This and yellow moon are two of their best songs. They stood out at the time and didn’t conform to Cajun, zydeco traditions. Very unique to say the least. These guys are eternal
Rest in peace to Art and Charles, and thanks for the music.❤ Cyril is one of my all time favorite vocalists...Neville Brothers one of a kind. I lived in NOLA during Katrina, and now watching Ida approach...I am praying for the city and musicians and culture I will always love 🙏🎶🙏Be safe Y'all. ❤❤❤
We were so spoiled down in New Orleans around this time, that when The Neville Brothers or The Meters would play at the Dream Palace, if the sign said $5 cover we would go "$5 dollars??? Just to see The Neville Brothers? They must be out of their minds!" Now that the Neville's have retired and people like Fess have died, mo one is carrying the funky side of the city anymore.
And long before that when The Meters , Fess and Booker, Earl King, et al would play at long gone places like Jeds uptown. The Seventies in New Orleans was funkified...baby. The BEST TIME FOR NAWLINS Music EVER! I was damn lucky.
@Talkin Bout Nawlins Yes. I know. But Art, Cyril and sometime Charles Neville are in the Meters. And George Porter Junior have played with The Neville Brothers. That's why I'm saying Meters = Neville Brothers
The Neville Brothers . Has a lot of talent . I'n singing music and playing their instruments . I love their music . Lord Bless Each One Of You .💕🌹💋💕🌹💋💞🌹💋💕🌹💋💞🌹💋
My name is Doug Mays Me and my group Storm performed with The Meters from Louisiana's Cajun Country to Ohio and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast at least 50 times and we always had a great big good time. A great band"The Meters"
Could the Venue be the Hard Rock Cafe ? or House of Blues? These guys are really talented and have become the successors to Professor Longhair to close out Jazz Festival yearly .I remember Arron Neville's hit song ,TELL IT LIKE IT IS , when it came out in 1966 while I was in the USAF and stationed at Dover AFB in Delaware , so I could visit NY on Passes easily by road in 3 to 4 hours....It was very Big Hit in NYC Radio Play !
OH YEAH ! Used to watch them quite often in the 70s at Old man rivers on the Westbank. Got really bummed when they announced at their last concert there that they were breaking up and forming the Nevelle Bros. Little did I know what was about to go down, but I really wish that Leo Nacentelli would have remained with the band.
