2021 Listening to this ,the Neville Brothers could be, should be called "The Funk Brothers"! Who can't groove to this, your hips move like they have a mind of their own and feet don't fail me now ! Any people with thumbs down must be dead inside and I'm feeling sorry for them.

Amd neither of them are Johnny Vidacovich, Gerald French, Bob French, Herlin Riley, James Black, Jason Marsalis, Ed Blackwell, et al. Everyone is an individual and has their own unique, individual voice. There is only one Zigaboo. There is only one Johnny V. There was never meant to be more. And if you *are* a musician, you should know this! No need to slag someone off for not being someone else. I am sure there are some people we could measure you against and you would be found wanting. But to quote Keith Moon, "I'm the *best* 'Keith Moon' style drummer I know!"
The Neville Bros are the real dope. Making this music since the 60's and still going strong. I love them and saw them twice in the 80's and 90's. NOLA FUNK ROCKS AND RULES!!!
WOW! I could not turn this off and I was so tired wanting to sleep! The beats are incredible... I was sorry to hear Art had died, but how wonderful that the whole family and descendants play and sing too!
Already planned my own "compost' burial in own yard, with a tree planted atop. Only celebration desired is a @2nd Line (thru my now-rare-to-find 1/4 acre green space) ...with a list of tunes that includes many early 'true' R&Bs, John Prine, and Several NEVILLE Brothers tunes. Never can get enough of them; All and Any of them. Funk On !!

I love Mean Willie - the Nevilles used to play all the time at Rockefellers in Houston and it was kinda pricey and we were in college so we would roll the biggest fattest joint of the best bud and have the doorman summon Willie and he always let us in. Didn't hurt that my friend and I were cute, but I think the green was the ticket! :)
Yeah Mean Willie is one of the most badass Nola drummers ever! He's been playing with The New Orleans suspects for awhile now.. check them out if you're not familiar! I feel lucky that I caught the Neville Bros with him years ago here in NY at a free show they did..as well as at Jazzfest closing out the festival as they always did.. about 15-20 years ago! As much as I love Mean Willie though..imho.. there's no drummers that touch Zigaboo Modeliste when it comes to the ultimate Nola Funk drummer. What he did with Art, George and Leo in The Meters.. revolutionized all Funk that came after them! Thank the Lord that Art Neville had the foresight to form The Meters! There's just no Nola band more integral and important than The Meters..at least in my humble opinion ✌️🎶🎵 I'm still struggling with Art passing away after seeing him so many times over the years between the Funky Meters and Neville Bros. He truly deserves a monument in Nola for all he did in music and the immense influence he had on every keys player/singer and song writer/arranger! Poppa Funk will live forever in the hearts and minds of all who loves his music and cherished seeing him as much as possible. RIP Poppa Funk 🙏💔😢💙🎶🎵🎹🎙️✌️

I was at that Halloween show. They had a whole Neville family line-up. The opening acts were some of the Neville kids with their band, and Charmaine Neville, Charles's daughter, a jazz singer. Good time.
Saw them in, of all places, Kalamazoo, Michigan back in the mid-late 80s at a joint called Club Soda. They opened with 'Fear, Hate, Envy And Jealously'...it was almost surreal in it's musical excellence.
The brothers are a gift to the world.everybody in the neville family sings and plays.neices,nephews,cousins etc.Cassandra,dianne just everybody.long may they rock and bring us the true soul of new orleans.No body like black folks.We got this SOUL.
