I'm building out a small Sommet 297 this winter for my son for next year's Whistler season. Got the frame for an amazing price out of the UK. Frame looks sick bare. Can't wait to see it all built up!
Congratulations Vitus makes the best bikes. I have been riding this same bike for over a year in the 29 in dream build and it is the best bike I have ever owned. It is a one of a kind. It is a very unique bike here in Lake Tahoe. Really stoked for you.🤘🤘🤘🔥
@@LauraJaneWeeTamMTB Really nice. We are riding Northstar bike park tomorrow for Fathers Day. CRC was here a few years ago for the EWS World Series. We have Sky Tavern bike park by our house and that has some good DH. That bike is something else. Enjoy it!🔥🔥🔥🤘
@@ynwa9840 Well to be honest from the beginning of the pandemic to the middle I got this bike and my son got a Vitus Sentier and my brother got the Nukeproof Giga Factory. I got on the CRC email list and just a few weeks until one was in stock and as soon as I got notified I responded right away and got all three bikes. They all came in about three days to the US with no tax duties or import fee. The Giga and the Sommet were $125 shipping each and the Sentier was $65. The bikes all came in perfect condition with a care package. I was just really on top of it. All of my friends that bought the bike shop bikes all we’re waiting a year to a year and a half. I am sure it is different in other countries and we got the bikes one at a time too. I will tell you this bike is a stand out at the Northstar Bike Park in Tahoe. 🤘🤘🔥
Back to the forests I recognize so well now from your channel. Those must be planted forests - the trees are lined up perfectly. Good luck in the coming races! I'll be cheering for you and of course my fellow Canadians!
Yeah the home trails - we re spoilt with the amount of trails and lush forests. Thanks! I’ll be in the EWS100 so same course but not in with the pro riders! Can’t wait, the buzz at the event will be great!
I’ve got last years Sommet CR and it’s a banger. I’ve got a Nukeproof Megawatt EMTB that I ride more often, but I just can’t bring myself to part with the Sommet, it’s a special bike.
Like a kid at Christmas.. some pace there too wow.. I'm running Fox38 on my Mondraker E and they are amazing..got me out of trouble a few times already..looking forward to seeing your racing vids soon
Definitely felt a kid at Christmas 😂. Yeah they really are. Im still playing about with pressures to dial them in - need a lot more pressure than my 36s but they feel incredible. So smooth yet supportive 👌 great thanks, hope you enjoy them!
Looks like an awesome bike. My friend and I were at the gates when we saw you guys just coming along the road and said hi. I did the exact same as you and Tam near the end of the last trail as well :-D
Yeah couldn’t be happier with the bike! Ahah glad it wasn’t just us! It seems like a few people ended up off track there 😅 it just wants to take you there!
Thanks yeah blown away by it! @gavin yeah the racing line is only 29er so I’m running the regular wild enduro rear. I ran a front on the rear for a while in winter which was handy in the worst mud but back to the specific rear now
@Makaryo's Tyannel its your preference if you prefer the bike to be a little smaller or larger. I personally would go for a medium if I was 5ft 6. I think the reach and standover would just be a bit too small and it may be a struggle to find a big enough dropper for a small frame at that height. Everyone is different though :)
Oh that's niiiice! Read some good things about Vitus. They are direct sales aren't they (via Chain Reaction)? Might research if they do demo days as I'd want to be sure of frame sizing, bike feel, etc, etc especially at the higher price point of their bikes. How did you go through the process of selection? I'm in the middle of needing an L or XL so it can be tricky.
Yeah I'm blown away by it. Had heard good things and now I'm on one I can get why. Yep direct via Wiggle and Chain Reaction. Size is always a tough one. I compared the geo chart to my existing/previous bikes for reach, stack and standover etc and I'm pretty firmly in a small on most bikes. Size feels spot on for me!
@@LauraJaneWeeTamMTB thanks Laura. I am 5ft 6. So I am leaning towards the Medium as the reach concerns me at 418, my current small bike is 425 and i fitted a longer stem as felt it a little cramped. How does it pedal up hill? Great vids by the way! 👍🏻
Thanks, yeah I absolutely love it. I’m undecided… I do like my hopes but have been getting used to shimanos on the ebike. The XTs felt pretty good. Hopes for now and I’ll see after a month or two! Is that the new v4s you’ve gone for? Heard they’re meant to be really good!
@@LauraJaneWeeTamMTB I went for the E4s, figured if they are good enough for Joe Barnes they are good enough for me. The lever feel is amazing, really light and smooth as it's on a bearing now instead of a bush. Really happy with them. I've heard good things about the newer XTs, I ran Zee's for years but was getting fed up with the constant need to bleed them.
Ah nice yeah heard good things about these too. They sound great. I’ve got the constant bleeding issue with my v4s 😅 which is tempting me to the XTs so I’ll see how I go. The new XTs did feel amazing!
Well these videos just cost me £1700 for a Vitus Mythique and probably an E sommet further down the line. Probably a trip to the alps too. Bloody hell. 😮😊.
I’m questioning selling my current bike and getting this. The spec on this bike for £4000 is stupid and after seeing so many pros today at the EWS on these bikes I know it’s more bike than I’d ever need 🤣.
