I used to hate these until I got one. Excellent budget carry gun. Poor man's Glock

My sd9ve has over 5,000 rounds and nit a single malfunction. Used all types of ammo and everytime I go to the rang I alternate rounds. Brass, steel, aluminum...Repeat. If a gun can't handle steel it doesn't deserve the brass. Only issue was after 2,000 rounds the damn polymer captured guide rod started to look bad. Replaced it with a glock 19 stainless guide rod and that was that. Now imma get the 2.0

Any idea what guns they are manufacturing down that way now? Used to drive to Knoxville a lot. Last time through Maryville was months ago when brother took me on a tour. He used to drive for Coke Cola and had that delivery route. Beautiful area.

@@richardrogers8254 Hey buddy…I’m not sure what they started to manufacture there yet. So far the SD 9 mod 2 is in gun stores here that say Maryville on them. I haven’t had a tour of the plant but from what I understand it’s not going to be a place to buy from just manufacturing and sending them out to stores. I was out your way last month at Buds gun shop 👍

I called S&W customer service for an issue with one of my firearms and the guy mentioned there might be a delay due to relocation from Massachusetts to Tennessee. So now I know exactly where they are, thanks!

I'm still trying to figure out what every nuance of what changes have been made in production. Mine is a SW357V. The 15 round 40 S&W mags were about .015" too short from the top of the baseplate to the top of the mag catch hole meaning it would barely lock. Not much to sand that much off the top of the baseplate & have them working perfectly. Not sure if the newer 14 round 40 mags would fit as I haven't tried one yet.

I have the original version and absolutely HATE the trigger.

My first semi-auto was an SD9VE that I bought from a friend. He'd hardly shot it; experienced guy that likely bought it out of curiosity when it was the new budget gun on the market. Even with an Apex trigger it's still squishy with no real break, which is kind of a good thing if you like to play the "When is it going to fire" game with trigger pull.

@ericsande5345 yea that trigger isn't anything to write home about lmao. Had I known what I know now, I probably would've gone canik or taurus g2c for my first.

No doubt about it. P10 is a gun that can (and did) sell for more that they dropped to a fantastic price. This is a cheap gun they put a bit better trigger in as a refresh. P10 is better in every regard. Better trigger, ergos, recoil impulse, after market, has OR and SR options, comes with two mags, comes with steel sights (vs these being plastic). I’m glad these are better than they used to be, but the price point is also a lot more competitive too.

Same here! It’s still my home defense pistol with a light on the front. A bit expensive to shoot 40 cal, but I just shoot it to keep the ammo from getting old.

I recently purchased a PX9 Duty from Tisas and for what it offers in the box and how the platform is designed being virtually a Glock 19x Alternative, I would not even consider this reworked Sigma. I was out the door for under 345 bucks and got panels offering the grip modularity of a VP9, a direct mount RMR cut with a plate for bottom battery optics plus extra screws, a minimalist IWB holster (not a fan), Warren Tactical Fiberoptic style sights, an 18+1 and 20+1 Sig 226 patterned magazine, removable mag-well, a cleaning kit, a tool for the roll pins and screws, and all in a lockable hardcase. Now, the trigger is smoother than the Mete’s but has a bit longer reset comparable to the Smith’s; however it breaks cleanly at 90 degrees with no over travel to speak of. I shot it side by side with the Canik Elite, base TP9SF, and Glock 19x and found the ergos and trigger to be better than any of them, and yet it was the least expensive of the bunch. Sure S&W has impeccable customer service and such but I think SDS Imports is going to stand behind these pretty decently. I am now putting back the bread to get either a Night Stalker 1911 DS or the MAC 9 DS "Turkatto“. I also seen where the PX-5.7x28 has started shipping but I'm going to wait until some gun tubers have put it through some range reviews before making the leap on that one. I was blown away by the MSRP because if it shoots anywhere near as well as the PX9 Duty and as reliably it will hands down be the best value in a 5.7 pistol to date. I love the M&P 2.0 and Shield Plus but have to say that Tisas has really impressed me with their quality to price ratio and has me very distracted right now.

Had the same thing happen to my Shield. At the low end of their price range, Smith seems to take the Ruger approach to quality control: customer finds the issues and then they are happy to fix

Best warranty is the one never needed. Company fixing it quickly still means it broke. UnSAT for any carry gun.

People will bash warranty but I've had warranty work on all brands across the baord except S&W. 3 glocks in particular, 43, 26 and 43x. All extractor and feed issues.

This is when he began to understand the difference between reputable agencies and the one he was working for. As an aside, I've recovered a few from crime scenes. Including one that failed it's user. Sorry, maybe you were just lucky, but most of us old-timers hated them.

​@@brettdavis4269no reputable agency would issue these. Not ever. A friend of mine was issued one of these and after a few unit trainings they offered their badges up with them. The sheriff then went and bought Glocks. I've recovered several of these at crime scenes, to include one OIS where the perp used one and it failed him...he was beyond caring at that point...

I've got 5 G3C's no problem

My G3C is extremely accurate and extremely reliable. It eats any ammo I throw in it. And since it comes with three mags I can throw a lot of ammo in it. I keep trying to figure out what the market and customers Smith and Wesson are looking at with this pistol? Obviously at that price point it's meant to be either a backup or a gun for a new shooter. In that market the G3C or even the regular G3 is a much better deal and comes with enough mags that you don't have to buy in the extras.

For the price, I’d take a P10C over either of them. Since CZ has dropped the price, it’s the best budget gun by far.
