@@DoRCthe mini revo/slash/summit is $200 for the base models. $300 for the VXL versions. The maxx is not nearly as complicated of a truck as the mini revo so maybe they will keep the price down. They are also trying to compete with the from so they need to get the price down.
I'm very happy to hear it comes with a brushless system. Love my Groms but upgrading was sort of a pain in the butt (and still is for various reasons) and I'd way rather pay more upfront to not have to take it apart and shove all sorts of electronics inside of it and jerry rig everything to fit correctly.
To measure is to know, my friend! I get huge savings on these types of models by just buying rollers and fitting my own combos. I just bought a Slash 4x4 Ultimate for $75 the other day (with all upgraded parts). Slapped a nice 4S combo on it, and now it's literally faster, torquier, and more reliable than a new one straight out of the box. Total price: $150 for a monster Slash.
The Furitek drop in Grom combo solves that. Everything you need for a fire breathing, 3s capable Grom for $99. Waiting on my first one to be delivered now.
@@DoRC Based on the size of a 1/10 power system, I would expect this to replace the 1/16's, maybe act as an in-between to the Savage XS and Grom. Lately RC companies don't seem to like competing head to head and would rather create a new niche with every monthly newsletter release
The battery you shown was a 3s, 11.1 voltage. However the bl-2s system will not take anything over the 2s battery. Just so you other viewers who might just be getting started in the hobby. Not to be mistaken.
Thanks for the clarification! I honestly didn't even pay attention to which battery I was grabbing a picture of as I was just wanting to show "generic Traxxas battery"
Yes! MJX/hyper go in the 1/14 and 1/16 just have better parts on them, equipped stock at less than 200. Even with spare parts included on some. I like them even with some quirks, they are cool. Arrma fell short on groms and cleaned up with us big time $$$ on upgrades. I have $300 into my brushless granite grom and it just feels ok. Traxxas is like *hold my beer*
This looks promising. I will definitely buy one if the price is reasonable. I would say $199 -$249 is a good guess judging by the way their brushed and brushless Mini E Revos are priced.
The larger scale and more than likely larger price point won’t make this a Grom competitor. They may be looking to capture some of that market, but if this is more than $70 than a Grom that’s a tough sell. The great thing about this scale is it’s fairly easy to make a fun durable truck but I also expect a lot of cost cutting from Traxxas. I can already assume the servo will be absolutely junk and even though it’s brushless it probably won’t be much faster than the Grom lineup. Maybe it’ll be the same servo as the XMAXX in that case, adequate for a 12 scale but junk for a large scale 😂 Let’s do a Bingo for this truck, I’ve got my bets on junk servo, poor quality plastic gears, and failing electronics
I agree with the servo but we'll have to see you on the electronics. I really do hope it has steel gears. As far as competition I think that's a tough one. It almost certainly won't be direct competition price wise but there are a lot of people that think the Grom is simply too small and underpowered. For those people this could be exactly what they're looking for.
For anyone thinking this would compete with a Grom, don’t think that. Groms are small and brushed with 2-in-1 ESC/receiver electronics. This Mini Maxx is upmarket. Grom is 1/18 and this is what, 1/12? 1/14 maybe? Not even in the same size class, and this Mini Maxx also has proper standalone components. No 2-in-1 nonsense here. I’m saying this as a guy who loves Arrma and is a big critic of Traxxas. Credit where credit is due, this truck looks promising, and you can’t expect this to be less than 200. It should be priced like a brushless Associated Reflex. Not a Grom.
Whereas I don't think this is going to compete directly on price I think it will attract a lot of people who were either disappointed with the Grom or didn't end up buying the Grom because of how small it was. I feel like it'll be direct competition for those reasons.
My local hobby shop confirmed it. It’s releasing sometime in November. It will be a 1/12 scale car. Supposedly it’s just as strong as the maxx. I can’t wait!
Best first have a look at the Redcat Valkyrie and this comes from someone that already owns the V2 Maxx and new Xmaxx and who likes both of them. If you are just trying to own all three, just to have them , I guess I understand but if performance is your criteria along with durability, with a lower price tag, then there is no comparison. In fact, there is no comparison at double the $300 price tag but to each their own.
@@XWXW-lk4jf I will forever be worried about parts availability for anything that's not Traxxas or Arrma, I have to take what I can get in the UK. Full disclosure though: I honestly don't have any interest in Mini Maxx even though it is very cool; I already have an XRT :P
If its more than what the grom line up costs count me out haha, it’s cool though but for what the groms cost and what they can do it’ll be hard to beat for me.
It'll definitely be more than the Groms but I think it's going to be a lot more versatile too. At these small sizes even minor increases in things like tire diameter and ground clearance make a huge difference.
@@DoRC Yeah I agree, 1/24 is the sweet spot, many others have proved you can have 4WD at that scale. The 1/36 micros were great but limited options. It would be very cool to see good competition at 1/24 with brushless, waterproof, etc.
I don't think it will compete directly with the Grom in price but I think it will pull a lot of people away who think the Grom is small and underpowered. In that way I feel like it's going to be direct competition.
You have the best RC channel out there and don’t waste our time making ten videos out of content that could be in one. Please keep it up! You do all of the mods that we are all wanting to see! Awesome channel!!!
And who would buy this over a Valkyrie then? Except those who either don't know about it or are diehard Traxxas fans. I own both the Maxx and the Valkyrie MT. The Valkyrie MT rubs circles around the Maxx and I do like the Maxx, dont get me wrong. The Valkyrie is a smaller version of the 6s Big in how it handles. It is the best release of the year in my opinion. If this is priced anywhere within $100 of that, and people buy it, instead of the Valkyrie, that would be a terrible decision. Unless, the Valkyrie is too much to handle. I could see that being the case but then it should be priced in the $100 to $150 range. If Redcat can put out a truck that competes with $800 vechiles, for $300, then this should honestly be no more than $50. That is literally the argument here. I won't claim the Valkyrie is on the same level as Big Rock 6s but it is better than anything Traxxas offers. Traxxas vechiles need better handling. Plain and simple. They all handle like bricks on wheels. Why aren't they upgrading the Maxx instead of coming out with this little shit? The Maxx is due for an update although I suspect the Maxx Slash was that update which is unfortunate because that is actually inferior to the Maxx not superior. In order to not lose sales to Redcat, they best think about how they can improve the Maxx. Perhaps by start by addressing the handling. Perhaps also the insatiable appetite it has for eating its own drive drive shafts would help as well. The plastic has a nasty habit of degrading within the first year which leads to the bearings becoming compromised and needing to be replaced. A pretty hefty job that I did not expect and one that has negatively affected my opinion on the Maxx's supposed durability.
OH MY GOD, YESSSSS! I WANTED SOOO MUCH TO GET A TRAXXAS MAXX, but I couldn’t afford it, but if this thing is not super expensive - i am DEFINITELY buying that one!!! I am sooo happy that some time ago I’ve found your channel, and now I know all the latest leaks and new RC’s coming out!🔥
You must first look at the Redcat Valkyrie. I'm telling you, it is better than the full size Maxx, which I own btw. You are selling yourself short if you don't. The Valkyrie is a 4s truck about the same size as the Maxx. Right out of the box it is capable of between 60 and 65 mph. All for $300. The V2 Maxx costs $570 and does not handle as good as the Valkyrie and out of the box is about 50 mph top speed. Both are built equally sturdy but the Valkyrie offers a Hobbywing Max 10 esc and a 7.4 volt BEC to the Maxx's 6 Volt BEC. This new, smaller Maxx is going to cost about the same as this 4s Valkyrie but will likely be about 30+ miles per hour slower. Comparing the BL 2s system with a Hobbywing Max 10 is laughable. The throttle control advantage with the Valkrie will be significantly smoother at all speeds. Traxxas vechiles, with the exception of the Maxx, Xmaxx and xrt surge and cog like there is no tomorrow. Traxxas is very good at marketing, but they lag the competition in most areas despite charging a ton more for much less.
@@XWXW-lk4jf Oh, thank you for the advice! But honestly, i am a massive fan of how traxxas maxx looks. I would really like to have a mini version of traxxas maxx Thats why I am so excited :)
Hopefully it's got more reliable drivetrain parts than the Groms! Definitely looking forward to seeing this truck. Hopefully doesn't cost any more than $200-$250 knowing Traxxas. Now.. if they do a Mini Maxx Slash... idc how much it costs, take my money
I feel this truck is more in line to competing with the Associated Reflex. Having said that, I am not a big fan of Traxxas due to their standing in the community as being seen as a bully. Perhaps being a bully is the only way to survive in the world of mega-conglomerates? Perhaps not. Until someone can show me evidence of Traxxas being the lesser of two evils instead of the greater of two evils, I will stay away from Traxxas.
I really hope they fix the BL-2S system. If the sensorless system ever thinks it is spinning backwards, even for a split second, it has a time out on letting you drive again. It is especially noticable if you use brake to correct while in the air and land with stopped wheels. A lot of guys in Spec Slash racing went back to the XL5.
Yes, the same thing is super annoying for me. Takes away the fun of driving my BL-2S slash. It won't come go from reverse to forward driving without this little time out. Might be that my particular model is faulty.
@@DoRC happens when bashing too, unfortunately :( Spinning out and rolling backwards, landing with stopped wheels, anything that the system detects as backwards motor rotation will lead to having to wait for the reverse to forwards lockout time.
That looks sick lol, that’s where Arrma went wrong they should have put a brushless system, let’s be real no1 reall wanted brushed, they bless you gunna run in certain races.
It’s brushless, if it’s got crap diffs like the grom I’d say $199 but if the diffs and driveshafts are closer to the grom upgrade ones I’m guessing $239
Given that Traxxas really likes plastic drive shafts I'm guessing they're going to be plastic but my guess is that the differentials are going to be steel.
@@DoRC I have no idea why people keep buying Traxxas in Australia as their markup compared to other companies. Seen Traxxas upto $400 more local compared to alternative with prices being similar in the USA.
Don't hate me but I will definitely get one of these if it is anywhere as tough as my Maxx. It's kind of like driving a block but my Maxx V1 is still one of my favorite trucks.
Traxxas now having a new mini means one thing. The "cheap Chinese rc" market is just gonna drop new stuff, probably better than current at a slightly lower price abd I'm for it
@@JUMBOs-RC I'm going to guess close to 250. I think if they get too close to 300 they're going to be competing with their own stampede which they probably don't want to do.
Not sure. It really depends on where the new car ends up price wise. They might use this new platform to replace the latrax cars and the 116th scale cars either one or neither. Just depends
@infamousrc2536 Yeah it'll be interesting to see what they end up discontinuing as they bring this line in. I guess it just depends on how much it's going to cost. Maybe they'll replace both the latrax and the Merv cars
i would buy one so fast if this is true. i mean the maxx and the xmaxx are really durable and traxxas most popular cars so i would really hope this is to at the 200 price line these would sell so quick
@@DoRC that is true. so with that being said, then maybe in the 250 range. I guess we shall find out in the near future being that all the talk about it is going to force their hand on a release date for them.
Yeah I kind of feel the same way. I suspect we're not going to be happy about the price but if it's sized the way I think it's going to be I get the feeling it's going to be attractive to a lot of people
Yeah whether this will be the replacement for those or for the latrax I guess just depends on the price and size. They might end up replacing both lines with this new model.
@@DoRC I've always loved the 1/16 E Revo VXL, but I'm guessing this new line will probably replace it and the other 1/16 models. Those are actually 15 year old designs at this point.
i'm betting on 199,99$ definitely not buying one (or any traxxa$$). i'm not gonna finance their trigger happy lawyers and their proprietary BS shenanigans.
I've been wanting a Traxxas Maxx, this is a good way for me to venture into the Maxx world, in a smaller scale. If it's $200 bucks or under I'm fully in. 🤔
Other than the battery tray, with the brushless system, and a price of around 200-250$, this may be a decent contender for the “grom” sized lineup from each brand . All we need is a losi from and a team associated one 🤟🏼😇
Im definitely getting one so i can have the whole maxx family lol i hope they come out with a XRT the size of a Maxx and a smaller XRT like the mini Maxx
Cant wait! I am new to the sport / Hobby and already have a collection of around a dozen including the max have been looking for something smaller that won't get hung up in grass that I can run on my lawn and out into the road and the nearby parking lot and it'll hopefully take a little bit of bashing and even more hopefully will stay on its Wheels when not actively jumping definitely getting my exercise chasing around some of the smaller lighter ones my lawn is rutted and bumpy and it keeps flipping the vehicles.
Being smaller, this is gonna get much more hung up in the grass. I've been critical of the Maxx but being capable of handling offroad is not one of its short comings. It should be able to cut the grass, no matter what length. Not get caught up in it. I actually use mine in place of a lawn mower, it does thar good of a job.
This probably will be perfect for that. Smaller cars always struggle in tall grass but this is going to be a little bit bigger than the Groms so it should do better than they will.
Hopefully a little bit last. I think the closer they get to 300 the more they'll be competing with their own 1/10 scale stampede which they probably want to avoid. We'll see though. Thanks for watching :-)
@@DoRC That's probably a good thing as the 1/16 E-revo was fast but no basher. But man I think it won't be less than $300, and probably without Lipo/charger like the Grom.
Sort of. When the granite first came out I kind of felt that way but they've gotten more expensive and larger since then. Ultimately I think all of these smaller cars are really in competition with each other though.
It might be replacing the 1/16th E-Revo?¿ I'd actually like to see a side by side comparison between the Mojave Grom and the 1/16th slash, in which itself is on the mini E-Revo platform. More of a mini electric slayer 3.3 than anything Slash related, but I digress.
I think it just depends on how much it ends up costing. I think all these little cars are in competition with each other but they might replace the latrax cars the 116th cars or neither. Who knows
I bet $300. Anyone who would pay $200 to $300 for this over the Redcat Valkyrie ought to have their head examined. The Valkyrie is better than the Full size Maxx let alone this. 62 mph truck vs 20 mph truck.
Maybe. The Valkyrie is good but it also has some limitations. I think these small cars also allow you to bash in places that you wouldn't get away with running larger cars.
Based on what you are saying, this could be the grom killer, but I am sure they will price themselves right out of that idea. I would guess they will price it around $275. And I bet that BL2s won't be any faster than the brushed grom.
I Really hope Traxxas Can lower the price for the Max-XMax-XRT.Soo I really hope the see that different Rc brand releases New great Car all the time.Soo Traxxas really want one.Think it's going to be around 2-400$ is it 1/10 scale maybe smaller.Whating to see thanks for sharing this 🙏
I'm thinking we have a new high price leader in the mini market. Move over Losi mini LMT. Traxxass just joined the game! Personally I'm sick of mini everything. I'm ready for some large scale stuff! Redcat and Arrma are the only ones giving us anything except bold new colors in the large scale world. Even Arrma just added a few parts and electronics to existing roller platforms. Maybe large scale would sell better if we had more options. Folks are likely gonna pay $300 plus for this dinky little thing so that proves the money is here to support new large scale rigs. Redcat couldn't keep the Vigilante in stock for months after it released. Give us a huge basher buggy on that platform and we'll buy them all also.
Finally, RC majors understood that not everybody has a space for 1/8 nitro in their small rental flat. If only they would bring back 1/18 nitro, I wish I wish. Also, bl2s is a 3660 size can but with a 3650 size rotor. Its a max 45amp can, so slightly overpowered for a small scale.
I get what you're saying, I have a small apartment with no room for storage of anything except the essentials, but I fit a 7th scale and got a new 8th scale this month, so I'm just going to rip out the shower and take baths in a barrel, like the good old days.
Maybe though there are a lot of things to consider. This will definitely have better aftermarket support and better parts support. It will probably be a bit smaller though.
