My mom is a Starbucks mug collecter. It isn’t the one in the video, it’s much more sentimental as she collects the mug from each state and country for different countries she’s been to in her life, so her cups she’s been collecting mean a lot to her as they have sentimental value and memories, unlike these colorless and unappealing “cups”.
We have a Starbucks mug collection too. It’s a useful item, it’s a souvenir, and storing them isn’t a hardship. Between the 4 adults living in the house we could use them all in a week.
Yeah me and my mom collect these fridge magnets from every place we go to, it’s normal to have a collection like that, what’s not normal is the people in this video😅
To be honest, the thing that the youtuber said about "It's not made for collecting, it's made to be reusable" was just crazy. Like as people collecting anything they like, and those things usually not made with the intent of being collecor items.

Ngl the sunglasses holder is useful for me because I often leave mine at home and then I’m driving and it becomes sunny out. But my car has a built in one that I just keep a spare pair in 🤷🏻♀️
the purse hanger looks like an absolute godsend for someone who grew up with a mother who had a massive purse. the number of times i got whacked by it as she grabbed it out of the backseat is high, and the number of times i had to contort my body to fish it out of there for her is higher
Genuinely a trash can of some kind in a car is a must have for me, while I'm working I take breaks in my car and snack on the way to different job sites. If I don't have a trash can my floor becomes the trash can. But you don't need fancy compartment shit for that, literally a plastic bag on the back of the passenger seat is enough

I’m so happy I don’t have TikTok. This is ridiculous. Our planet is suffering and all this overconsumption is not helping! I truly feel sorry for the future generations.
I refuse to get TikTok at this point for the same exact reason. It’s just constant shilling and showing off massive collections of plastic only for views. Those people are only making that ice for views. I guarantee they aren’t actually using it. Just a waste.
What's sad is that people from developed countries actively participate in messing up the environment but it's the less advanced countries that end up facing the brunt of the consequences
And then its up to OUR poor asses to invest millions in green energy lmfao. And when we point it out to those rich countries (who started destroying the enviroment int the first place) they're just "Oh we can totally help you financially to invest in sustainable energy, all you need to do is give us unrestricted access to all of your natural resources and be our political allies under all circumstances, or else you're gonna be sanctioned. No biggie right?" Meanwhile they're incentivating mass production and consumerism because it gives them moneh and they dont actually give a f. Green colonialism at its finest.
21:00 My parents once bought something like this so that we would have to leave all our devices in one place and not loose them. It caught fire, in the kitchen. Fire alarm didn't go off. We caught it in time before it had fully combusted and threw it in the garden and it just burnt. Can confirm, giant fire hazard.
Oh god, the pink lady isn't just overconsuming, she's combining different types of pink that Do Not belong together. Also, Red onions? Red grapes? Strawberries??? Watermelon? Multiple types of dragonfruit??? Apples?????? THERE'S LITERALLY AN APPLE CALLED "PINK LADY". I'm gonna lose my marbles.
i agree that tiktok has helped glorify overconsumption, but as an adhd girly i have to admit that those clear plastic organizers help me sooo much in keeping bathrooms/ kitchen organized and stocked with the daily items i need. but i dont fill them with 24 of the same product like the tiktokers
Yeah, I have autism and ADHD so not only do I need things organized to function, but I also love organizing things and keeping them the same way for long periods of time cuz y'know, 'tis the tism. Anyway all the shade thrown on organizers is going overkill if you ask me, cuz it's an organizer. You don't buy a new one every day like they make it out to be, it's MEANT to be used for very long periods of time. It felt kind of strange seeing her talk about the packets being organized as if it was a problem, because does she expect them to let their place get messy and disorganized? Also at least the watertok people actually use the products, the worst part is when they use plastic bottles. But the stanley cup and Starbucks cup collectors are... Very destructive
as someone who’s had issues with depression and anxiety throughout life, a lot of the stuff that is promoted that helps with mental health and organization has really helped out. it’s all about positive intention and finding the good stuff when it comes to finding stuff like this on social media
I have adhd + depression I literally have my makeup sprawled out all over my desk even though I have one of the organizer thingys 😭 idk it’s just easier to find for me
Okay, but not calling hoarding what it is? That's insane Like, I'm a hoarder, I know this. But that's just cause I have things from years ago that I don't want to get rid of, not because I'm constantly buying more of the same thing and calling it "collecting" 😭
the fact that majority of the skincare products under the bed were still in their unopened boxes is astonishing. you not only have that amount of unnecessary product but you also haven't used it??? why did you purchase it???
I'm just surprised that they don't find themselves lacking funds for another thing they like, and go "you know, maybe it's OK if only 10% of my under-bed space is filled with skin-care. @@lug358
Omg same! I am also a pink fan and most items I own are pink, but I don’t go out to buy pink containers just for each piece of food. I don’t even own pink containers just the generic ones cause I got a bunch of them through other people or sometimes I reuse the containers I get from restaraunt that delivered soup to me or something.

Me too. Though I keep getting annoying ads or people ask me a lot if I seen some tiktok video/trend. There's a little isolation that comes with it, but I'd rather have that than losing my brain cells.
And collectors are often hoarders who think they arent because they dont hoard garbage and actually clean. Nah. You still a hoarder. You just not lazy which a lot of hoarders are.
I'm a doll 🎎🪆 collector and I have to agree. I love my collection and I love my fellow doll collectors but we do verge on hoarding. I try to be self aware and keep my collection contained to cabinets (no boxes in garage or attic) and I only buy what I can afford but I'm still a hoarder.
I am a hoarder, but I have started getting rid of my stuff slowly, and replacing it with (fewer) items that I like. I trade and swap and donate whatever is left. I still live in a house full of boxes and occassionally take in a massive donation from an acquintance (like 13 bags of random stuff) but hand-on-heart I promise that about a shoebox was kept, the rest is gone, donated and will perhaps be traded later (what I mean is, the recipients will bring me stuff in return) but I will do the same with that. I have a place where my items can go, that makes letting go a lót easier.
While some places do require water bottled because the water is that bad, if your having a hydration station, thats when you buy a purifier for your tap water. Or better yet, buy a fridge that dispenses water and ice. My family has both and they are a much better solution then bottled water if your going to have water every day.
honestly it’s becoming a super big problem because i see my little sister (and people my age) starting to be affected by this. everyone seems to have mountains and mountains of clothes and skincare that they basically never use. you aren’t supposed to have 30 tshirts babes! you wash and rewear!!!!
My moms client is like rich rich, and her daughter is around my age so sometimes her daughter gives me clothes. MULTIPLE TRASH BAGS OF CLOTHES??? Some even have tags on them and its just crazy to me
I've recently made a rule for myself to use something t'ill it is truely used up. Like for example when I have a book I have to finish it before I can buy a new one. Like I realized I was addicted to shopping and I have a small room, so I have a limited space.
The problem with clothes though is that in many cases, unless you buy high quality stuff that is usually more expensive, most clothing items are made poorly or with not great materials so that you can't use it for too long before you must buy a new one.
As a collector, there is absolutely a difference between collecting and hoarding. Hoarding is when you actively have an issue with overconsumption and don't have room for your obsession of choice and are in an unsanitary environment. Collecting is surrounding yourself with things you love in a fiscally and environmentally resposible way in a sanitary environment. I stopped collecting makeup bc I lost the love for it due to the sheer amount I had. Edit: While I don't agree with the comment below completely, it is important bc it corrects some misinformation I had. Hoarding is a mental illness and that is part of what separates it from collecting. I also edited my comment above for clarity.
Completely wrong. Hoarding is a kind of mental problem where you can't stop even if you want to. That's why hoarders always need therapy. So the differnet between collecting and hoarding is not the whatever the hell did you just wrote in your comment, but the mental ability of being able to stop whenever you want to stop. You simply just wrote the difference between a casual hobby collector and a serious high-end collector if we talk about amounts.
@@tovarishcheleonora8542 Yeah, no, stop spreading misinformation. The definition of hoarder according to merriam webster noun hoard·er ˈhȯr-dər plural hoarders Synonyms of hoarder : a person or animal that hoards We love shopping, and logically so: we're planners and hoarders, and by stocking up on available goods now, we can weather lean times tomorrow. -Natalie Angier. specifically : a person with hoarding disorder She is someone who buys too much and doesn't throw anything away, even as the stuff piles up and impedes normal life-the textbook definition of a hoarder. -Steven Kurutz Most hoarders … know that their behavior is socially unacceptable and as a result actively conceal it from others. -Sandra G. Boodman Yes there are hoarding disorders, but not all hoarders have it. These people are hoarders, they stock up on shit they don't even need.
@@tovarishcheleonora8542 oh yeah, also, like Haylo stated at 15:38, these hoarders are running out of space in their desks, drawers, etc, that they have to put skincare UNDER THEIR BED. This is NOT just simple "high-end collecting", this is a REAL hoarding problem. They're not even displaying it like a regular collector, high end or not would, they've got so much they're just shoving it into random drawers and playing tetris with it.
@@tovarishcheleonora8542 The inability to stop is indeed true, but a key part of hoarding is an unsanitary environment, and not enough room for your obsession of choice. You literally cannot walk around the piles of your own things bc they take up too much room. I myself have hoarding tendencies and have to be cautious to not slide into that thinking or, as you have noted, I won't be able to stop. I should have added that when describing the difference between collecting and hoarding. However, I stand by hoarding also in part being an issue with overconsumption in an unsanitary environment with no room to move.
For the fridge restock, did you see they didn’t even empty the bottles. So you are either wasting food, or you STILL have to store the containers somewhere.
22:22 not to mention, most cars have BUILT IN SUNGLASS OR GLASSES HOLDERS like its like right under the mirror or somewhere near it you dont need to buy a glasses holder when theres probably already one there!
I agree on almost all of your points. However, as someone who moved from Colorado where we had wonderful, clear, crisp water from the tap, to Arizona where mud water comes out, I can tell you that drinking from the tap in lots of parts of the US is not always possible. I remember moving from Ohio to California as a kid and being so confused about bottled water. I had never seen anything like it. Yet when I tasted the tap in California, I immediately understood lol
Agree I I used to drink well water because I lived in the country and when I gone to my friends house I drank city water and it was horrible it taste like chemicals glad I don’t live in Wisconsin anymore
i remember when i went to college in maryland, no one drank the tap water cause it had a gross taste. Everyone had a brita filter or something similar.
This is literally me when me and my family moved from South Carolina to Missouri- For the first time we have to buy bottled water because the tap in Missouri tastes weird, while in South Carolina the tap was so clean I even knew people who would just drink the tap without filtering it. But now here in Missouri we have to buy bottled water every week because we can’t drink from the tap out of fear.
And you just know those things are made by hand in a crappy shed somewhere in India, because there is no way there is any real commercial demand for this.
When i first started watching Hayley I kind of didn't like the very energetic feel of her videos, but I gotta say it's grown on me lol. Keep up the amazing content!!
23:09 Exactly! Having places for trash to collect just encourages you to not empty it. My car these last few semesters has 2 empty soda cans in it NEARLY ALWAYS because i drink them when i carpool from home to college and back every week and because theyre cans that inevitably have that last drop that will only escape the moment i dont want it to, i cant toss em on the floor to make room for more drinks, so, this limitation forces me to bin the old cans before getting my cupholders back. Having a bin back to collect cans in just encourages me to have loads of emoty cans in my car. Make your trash a burden on yourself so you will be encouraged to throw it away.
It’s genuinely partly because their parents don’t care about them or teach them how to treat money or priorities in life. It’s also partly undiagnosed mental health issues being preyed upon like the impulsive buying of ADHD and collecting tendencies of autism. I swear to god, it’s terrifying
@@table2.0 I have autism and I don’t think that’s it. It’s a stereotype. I think people being on social media all day thinking it substitutes actual social interaction is a big party of the conversation we as a society need to be having. ♥️ I know we as humans can do better!

Almost all of those beauty products are going to expire before they can even be used. That is so disgustingly wasteful, that person should be shamed daily.
Exactly like i can't believe the day came when i believe i little shaming is needed for grown up adults like let's just shame them from promoting this behavior idc what they do privately since they clearly don't care 😂
"i'm not a hoarder! i'm a collector!" that is literally what most hoarders say, especially book hoarders. also who needs to make aesthetic ice? i mean sure make fancy ice to add some extra flavor to the occasional drink occasionally, but that's too many ice trays! my parents have three different ice trays. one for cylinder shaped ice that can fit in bottles, one for large ice cubes, and one for smaller ice cubes, that's really all you need...
My parents are hoarders (sometimes i catch myself becoming like them), and we have a lot of stuff that we don't use in our house. My parents bed can also open and they have stacks of blankets and clothes that we don't use. Your right, this is hoarding but they can't believe that theirself and deny it, just like my parents. Because "but what if we need it in the future?", and the right answer is that it's never gonna happen.
If you have to store skincare products on multiple shelfs and under your bed, you have a hoarding problem (and probably a crippling shopping addiction with a side of FOMO).
@@Nikki_the_G Yeah but being realistic no one has the money to buy all that. It was probably PR stuff they got sent. BUT they should give it away instead of hoarding it all and letting it go to waste.
@@user-dw8tl8ej7g Some people do have that money or, if they have an addiction, put themselves in debt because of it. Either way, I agree, the waste is shameful.
Best case scenario, 80-95% of those skincare products are actually empty product bottles and/or packaging boxes given to them by others. While not a shopping addiction, it is a hoarding problem
Exactly. Skincare hoarders only want skincare because it’s trending, not because they actually need it for their skin. If they need to put their skincare on display, they don’t really need the skincare. One day, all of these skincare girlies are gonna stop obsessing over their trendy skincare because something else started to trend. It’s so bizarre to me when i see 10 YEAR OLDS wear skincare that they dont even need. This skincare craze needs to stop. It’s so dumb…
I can understand some of the aesthetics. Like, I have depression and struggle to take care of myself. Showering, brushing my teeth, I used to just not do it because I didn't feel like I deserved to be clean or healthy. If I had tried getting pretty containers for my shampoo and conditioner, it actually does make me feel a little more comfortable and shower more regularly. However, I also absolutely believe that these people have overconsumption problems and should probably seek help if they're relying too much on these things to keep themselves healthy and happy.
Yes but that one woman's shower, with the many racks and bottles and tubs of products, would actually make me less likely to want to shower. Just looking at that much stuff, even neatly organized, gives me anxiety. Like I wouldn't be comfortable with all that stuff in an area that gets wet every day- you would constantly have to wipe everything down because mildew will grow on things in your shower that just get wet and sit there. Plus, I have this crazy aversion to hair- I spend 10 minutes brushing my hair before showering because when it comes out and gets stuck my my hand or on the wall or something, I get completely grossed out and sometimes even get sick. It's weird, I know but the mildew thing is absolutely happening in between those stacked tubs and jars and around the bottle lids on the products that don't get used often. Which is most of them since you wouldn't even use each product once a week if you showered every day and used 3 different products each time.
Why would they have all the scrubs, schampoos and body washes with DIFFERENT scents, like i get wanting to smell good but you only need ONE scent, like do you want to smell different after every shower? i get wanting scented products but all you need is ONE body wash, shampoo and conditioner with ONE scent, MAYBE a scrub and or a lotion if youre feeling really fancy, but not like 20 DIFFERENT of each???
I grew up with extremely frugal parents who were older then most of my friends parents, so when the other kids were getting cool things mine would just say “it’s unnecessary”. As an adult I have a shopping addiction, however, as I accumulated stuff I realized it wasn’t buying me the happiness i thought it would. I’m now looking for ways to get rid of alot of it. It’s very stressful and I have to fight that urge to buy more, but just the simple fact that so much of modern day manufacturing is making complete garbage but putting higher price tags on it makes it so much easier to bypass more and more
I can explain the aversion to tap water here in the US. Some water, especially in rural communities isn't very good and often comes with a boil first warning due to possibility of parasites. Which is why a lot of people in these communities resort to bottled water either by the pack or gallon (s)
Im from Peru and mostly of our water has to be boiled before consumption because of the chemicals(most of it is cl) used to desinfect it and also sometimes it's not fully desinfected. Most people prefer buy bottles or gallons of water for consumption and for ice. And i believe most of countries in America also boil their water because of the contamination of water
Or they are on well water and their well is not the best. I cannot wash anything white in my house because the water will turn it rust colored eventually.
Even in India we are not supposed to drink from tap water but almost everyone here has water purifiers and people who don't have water purifiers drink boiled water. We don't use bottled water at home, we only buy bottled water if we are travelling or outside and forgot to carry our own water bottles.
People went from hoarding makeup, and showing off their makeup collections in their beauty rooms, to now hoarding over priced (over hyped) skincare products & Stanley cups lol This just goes to show how easily influenced people are to jump on trends. When this trend finally dies down, you’re gonna find a lot of these collections in the thrift stores, discount stores, & trash cans. Edit: February 24, 2024 Based on the title of your recent video from 1 day ago, I’d say my comment aged rather well. 😎
It's not that simple. If you start a hobby like crafting, cooking or make up, you dive in, explore a new world and you want to try as much as possible. After a while the saturation kicks in and you are overwhelmed and fed up with your collection because you have much more than you need or use. Maybe you declutter, use it or cut back ob buying new stuff but very often the consumption shifts to something else like clothes, shoes, jewelry, tea.. I guess it's part of being human that they hunt and collect, you decide what and how much.

I hate trends. I've learnt a lot of trends. The stuff is more poor quality and made by folk who don't get paid well. I try to shop smarter or better when i can.
something thats a very real problem in the usa tho is a lot of our drinking water is contaminated from the pipes, in my town we have an arsinic problem, so a lot of people cant actually drink the tap...
It’s so wild that we went from thrifting being so trendy that people who NEEDED these stores to survive couldnt get what they needed and now its consume consume consume. The basket ideas or so stupid. I was confused when the boo baskets came out around Halloween time, now we have baskets for everything? The Valentine’s Day ones could just be yknow gifts? But if you need a guide one what to get your partner ooof
Gift baskets are out of control. They were originally a thoughtful useful gift. I've given baby "baskets" of a nappy bag, baby bath or changing box filled with things like a thermometer, bib, breast pads, nail clippers, nappy cream, baby bath & shampoo, socks, scratch mits, nappies, teething powders etc. Useful, practical stuff with a wee book or onesie for the cute factor. What I see on tiktok is a reach. It's usually aesthetic but filled with cheap crap from temu or SHEIN. I'm not using products made in a sweat shop in China on my face. Some of their items have been found containing lead.
The mixing cup and the automatic dish scrubber might be nice for folks with disabilities that make it difficult to do those things, at least. But if you don't fall in those categories it feels like a bit of a waste.
@@amethyst1062no, over consumption is getting an excessive amount of stuff that you don’t use for its original purpose, or just hoard it. You’re fine if you get one. It’s not over consumption to get only one of the covers.
the “binge eatin basket” is so unserious 💀 like let me just go under my bed, grab my basket with a crap ton of sugary treats, walk to the couch, and start slowly grabbing the sour patch kids out of the basket 😭
I wonder what would happen if the lady who makes everything pink suddenly decides she hates the color or she somehow magically goes colorblind to reds/pinks.
Now jn defense of one item: the automatic scrubber is probably for impaired people (elderly/chronically ill/disabled). Sometimes ablebodied, healthy young folks use products that were not made for them to be lazy and to make fun of them is valid, but the products itself are partially justified based on who uses it. Yeah otherwise you are totes right
I have chronic pain and I could probably use that because sometimes I literally physically cannot put in the elbow work necessary to get the dish clean
This! It would also be useful for an autistic person like me who cant always hold sponges because of textural issues. Somedays I am fine to wash my dishes but other days touching a wet sponge make me want to tear my skin off.
Honestly that automatic scrubber at the end seems like a good idea for disabled people! I've seen a large handful of things people go "UGH no one needs that! How lazy are some people?!" but it's for disabled people. Problem is, when you market items FOR disabled people, they don't sell well because they're not for everyone, and end up being very expensive. The Snuggie? Invented for people in wheelchairs. Marketed to the general population. And it worked! I once saw a fork that had a twirly handle so all you have to do to spin spaghetti on the fork was hold it at the top and slide down and the fork would spin into the spaghetti. Was made for disabled people, but saw comments like "How lazy are you that you can't twirl your own spaghetti?" Also, I do have to say, some of the littler cheaper looking organization tools just seem like good ideas and are practical. Racks in the shower (like, a normal amount of 1-2), car seat hanger hook, car organizer thing... It's especially good for people like me who have a tendency to clutter things. Having little bins/baskets/whatnot for smaller items has saved me from having them splayed all over. On my PC desk I would have all these little items like chapstick, nail clippers, hair ties, converters, pills, gum, stim toys, glasses cloths... etc. Now I have a small basket for bigger items and a tiny basket for tiny items and my desk is free from scattered clutter!
I just like things to look a bit more organized in general. Like with the shower dispensers for body wash and hair products. Not only dose it look "aesthetic". It also keep them all in one place, and It keeps the bottles from falling in the tub.
Your anecdote about the Snuggie is not true. You shouldn't get your education from 15-sec uncited tiktoks just because it sounds like something you want to believe.
@@SnakeKillsDumbledorf hey, there is no need to just come and attack me because you clearly have issues with things! i found out about the snuggie information long before tiktok was even a thing! i had learned about it on tumblr SEVEN YEARS AGO. it was a popular idea and was only disproved well after the wheelchair idea was widespread, and the real origin is not widely talked about, so why are you getting up on my ass? old man yells at clouds moment. i don't even USE tiktok, i just watch compilations on youtube like once a week. get over yourself. don't act like there's not a ton of legitimate creators on tiktok who are experts in their fields talking about their passions, like the birdwatchers, the rock finders, the hobbyists.
Water tok is like those commercials targeting 'clumsy' people but in reality the products are meant for the temporarily and chronically disabled. The water flavours are great for those who had undergone bariatric surgery, but it's gone into the realm of noone says the B word but it's cool that water tastes nice 👍
the shower one also made me go crazy but in one of those videos i saw a comment about how someone is struggling with getting themselves to take showers and videos like that make them excited. and i'm glad these videos have at least some merit to them but a thousand bucks is not okay to spend as a real person, they're not even an influencer!
Yeah as a neuro divergent. Person showering is an event or I won't want to do it. Also they are influencers as most content like that is to Sell you something. Just one of the products shown The more products shown in one video the more of investment they are making. An they can claim all the money spent as work related expenditure. So it's not even actually costing them money to set their shower or cabinet etc up like that. It's an investment in the videos momentary gain and any money made from Sales through links in bio etc
For me when I wash my curly hair I turn Friends or another TV show on and listen to it since it takes me 30-40 minutes since i have a lot of hair and it gets tangled lol
@@Kk-mp5mxI can understand why curlies have more hair products in general. I know the struggles well. Your favorite/most used product in the spring won’t work in the summer. Your summer products won’t work in the fall. Your fall products won’t work in the winter. Your winter products won’t work in the spring. You need a clarifying shampoo, a moisturizing shampoo and a shampoo with protein. Same with various types of deep conditioners. Curly hair needs something different every week. You have to feel it, look at it and go from there - especially when you live in an area that has seasons and high humidity or and/dry weather conditions. When you finally figure out the gist of ingredients that work best for your hair it’s easier to narrow it down to some extent. Then your hair starts turning gray, the texture and curl pattern changes to some extent and you’ve got to work that out. It’s never ending but if you’ve ended up with hair products in all the cabinets and under the beds there is a problem.
In defense of the self-stirring mug and the electric dish scrubber, they can be helpful for people with disabilities ;v; On days when my arthritis is really bad, just holding a spoon, let alone trying to stir something a lot to ensure its well mixed is... not easy. Most days I'm fine and I wouldnt need one of those mugs, but the winter months tend to be pretty rough.
I completely missed the "water station" side of tiktok. The plastic waste, the unhealthy chemicals and sugar, the unawareness of one's footprint... I cannot 💀
Reminds me of the we bare bears episode when they had to buy a tote bag at a grocery store and were judged for not already having one (caring for the environment) and were praised and accepted for finally buying one. They proceeded to buy so much more and ended up with thousands in and out of the home essentially destorying the environment. Reuseable cups, bags, container etc are going to end up in landfills because of these people. You're only supposed to buy a few maybe one for each day of the week (minus containers) because they are reusable, not hundreds.
Man, I have two Starbucks reuasble cups, one big one small. I use whichever one fits my needs for more or less coffee. I see lots of cute cups and I think "I'd like to have that" but I already have two so I'm set and that's that. I couldn't imagine feeling so pressed to have every cup starbucks comes out with. That's a new level of stress to keep up with😭
that’s how i am, i don’t drink out of open cups so i only use lid and straw reusable cups for my water and coffee. i don’t have the most storage ever in my kitchen so i limit myself to 1 shelf of cups. if the shelf is full and i want more cups, i have to give some away first 😂
I have one Starbuck's cup for my daily coffee that I got when I lived in California (I moved back to Missouri in 2014) that I have been using for OVER 10 years. I have used it so much that pretty much all of the color has come off of it now and you can only tell what color it used to be in a couple of small places where the color still is. Every time I consider getting a new one because mine is a bit rough looking now I don't do it because mine still keeps my coffee warm for 3 hours. It still works so why do I need a new one?
The only reason I can think of people giving you skincare on Easter if it’s like something you needed. Like my family got me a brush for my face because the I used was old and had no batteries, the brush part would fall off all the time!😭
Yeah a lot of it is stupid but it is their money and their life. If they make enough money they can do whatever they want with it. It makes them happy so who cares honestly. It may be money waste to you but it may not be for them. And I hate all this weird TIK TOK stuff but it’s not my life to control and get mad over.
@@cottoncandyjellybean8539 I totally agree with you. And I feel like most of these people are living way beyond their means and on credit so they only have themselves to thank when they see zero in their bank account and no where to live.
@@Porataa No one said we care or that it’s affecting us. Of course anyone can do what they want with their money. They earned it and worked their ass off for it. Just because I think it’s ridiculous and no one needs 1000 bottles of skincare doesn’t mean that it’s affecting me or they can’t buy/get it. It is a waste though because no one would be able to use all those cups or skincare. You know you’re watching a video where Hayley is talking about the ridiculousness of it and how it’s excessive. 🤷🏻♀️
Right! I mean I do buy quite a lot, but I’m very choosy with what I buy. If I buy something, I always think “do I see myself using this and how often?”
Becoming minimalistic and barely buying anything (including clothes and items I don't need) has been really freeing. Moving out into a one bedroom apartment really made me see how limited my space is, honestly it's a blessing. I don't buy anything online, I bought maybe 2 articles of clothes last year (one for jeans because my prior one finally ripped after almost a decade of use), and honestly I wish more people just shopped similarly. Kids have more stuff than I do at this point! Why are parents allowing this!? AND WHY are they letting their literal children on Tik Tok to begin with 😐
Whom cares how many things the kids have. Just let them be kids as long as your wallet comfortably allows it. Kids never did need restriction for "you only can own X amount of things in total".
@@tovarishcheleonora8542I think you're missing the point here. It's not good to teach kids that they can have whatever they want and whenever they want. Unlimited access to stuff can risk kids to shopping/hoarding later on in their lives. It's important to teach them that happiness doesn't come from materialism and that overconsumption is gonna ruin their mental wellbeing.
Not to defend the watertok girlies, but there are a few states where tap water is literally undrinkable/not safe to drink due to the amount of chemicals they put in to disinfect it (or they have dangerous amounts of lead in it i.e. Flint, Michigan). Also watertok was started in general by people who underwent bariatic surgery because post-surgery, they literally can't tolerate straight water. Of course, it went south pretty quickly because it's TikTok, but it started out with pretty good/reasonable intentions.
😆 Most of the time, chlorine is the only chemical used in the United States to disinfect drinking water, and the water is perfectly safe to drink. If your water tastes weird, it's likely your plumbing causing that issue. Use a charcoal filter on your tap for an easy fix. You don't need bottled water, which isn't regulated to the same level as your tap water.
@@MultiKatieBee you've obviously never lived in a place with "bad" water. I've lived in at least 3 different cities where filtering the water twice still didn't help to make it drinkable. And no, it wasn't the plumbing making the water taste like mud and be slightly tinged. It was the fact that the local "reservoir" was half swamp. Even restaurants had to use industrial filters for their ice machines and taps that were expensive to maintain due to the high volume usage. Where I live now the water is OK after just being run through a filter to drink but many people here have filters on their showers because if you don't, you itch like crazy. The last city I lived in, the water had a lot more than chlorine added- it was so "soft" that in the shower, you literally felt slimy or like you hadn't gotten all the soap off no matter how long you rinsed. I'd have to rinse my hair for like 10 minutes trying to get the conditioner feel out of it but it always felt like it was still in there no matter what.
when it comes to tap water, at least in my state (I live in the US), we are actually advised to NOT drink it bc it’s dangerous and has certain chemicals that can make you really sick 😅
Mine smells/tastes like sulfur. ☹Oh yeah did I mention that they sent a note to everybody in the area that said if you had a weak immune system or are either elderly or very young (babies) to NOT drink the tap?
I love your vids. It always refreshing to see someone yell at us to snap out of over consuming. We have a small collection of skin care products. We only put cera vera cream on our face bc it’s nice and we’re almost done 😭😭. we have enough make up so we just look and not buy. Honestly want to get rid of most of clothes because when are we going to wear it. We started to declutter our socks, we got rid of the one with holes and ones that don’t have pairs anymore. We were going to start to fall for the skin care things but seeing this make us like say hell no. ❤️
And some of these over consumption videos on tiktok are just 'commercials' selling the products all with links to said objects. Many people seem to not realize this as well.
fr... all affiliate links from amazon and t3mu!!!! these ppl dont organize their ice every day they're just shoving products in your face... which makes it even worse!!!!
Over consumption itself has become an aesthetic because it gets views when it’s organized and displayed. Organization itself is pleasing to the eye. Satisfying to see done and watch be done. So we have ads masquerading as lavish lifestyle “restock” videos that perpetuate the idea that not only is it okay to live that way, but it’s something we should aspire to. No one actually lives that way though. They’re making that content specifically to get paid by all of the products they feature. It’s their job. A job with a heavy amount of moral implications and room for moral injury but, a job nonetheless.
Plus, when they retire from doing this shit, they'll be able to sell all of these products. (not the ones with expiration dates of course, the reusable ones that were not even used yet)

My grandparents don’t usually go to the store for milk they get the milk from actual cows and that’s why they use like pitcher’s or whatever so that they can pour the milk as it’s not in a container like store milk.
I used to work in the kitchen of a private school… when we made flavoured water, we’d cut up fruit and add that to the water. It’s tasty and far healthier than the syrups and flavours. Also the school had a filtration system for the taps, so any tap water was already filtered, and many staff members (myself included) would bring our own water bottles or cups and we’d refill through the day.
I'm so curious what other things were served at a private school. Like what kind of lunches or snacks? I think your comment shows the difference between people overconsuming a bunch of trash to look wealthy vs what actual wealthy people do.
@@SnakeKillsDumbledorf the particular school I worked at served healthy lunches (salad table, deli table, hot foods always included protein and veg with a side or two, there were soups too, plus accommodations for kids with dietary restrictions). They had a panini press too if the kids wanted sandwiches. The kids still got desserts and snacks and juice, and pizza was served on weekends usually or sometimes as Friday dinner (the school had boarders). The kids loved juice and snacks but were pretty good about eating healthy stuff too. Breakfast was usually eggs, meat, pancakes/waffles etc. there was a cereal table, milk, muffins, yogurt and fruit. Staff could eat there too, so working there meant I got to eat healthy food (as much as I wanted).
@@raesour2806 that sounds like a plum job. Not just free food but actually high quality meals, you could easily pay $30 for a lunch like that at a restaurant. I'm always fascinated watching the dining hall scenes of tv shows and movies set in private schools and seeing the great food they get. The tables were self-serve, yeah? And what was the ratio of fruit to water for the flavored water? Strawberries are in season and I'd like to try. Frozen blueberries should work well for it too I think.
@@SnakeKillsDumbledorf yes the tables were self serve, but we servers would refill as necessary and we were behind the serving counter for the main hot foods. It wasn’t a bad job… stressful at times, but the shifts flew because of how busy we were. As to the fruit/water ratio… it depends on how big of a jug you use. Frozen fruits work great, just keep in mind that the Color of the water can sometimes change with things like berries (still perfectly good to drink though). We switched out the flavours so we’d do things like lemon, orange, limes (sometimes lemon lime together), apple cinnamon (using cinnamon sticks), cucumber or cucumber mint etc. we got creative with it. Whichever ones the kids seemed to like best, we’d make more often.
I have face masks, like a roller and guasha, moisturizer, face wash, and aloe Vera for sun burn. Like I have the rest of the drawer for nail polish and perfumes and bath bombs. But seeing how much drunk elephant some people own in that room is like over $9,000 no joke and that might be less
19:40 , I have these, BUT they aren’t plastic ones I’m refilling AND I buy the packages that are meant for you to take, and pour into these. I only even did this for hand soap.
I'm a late Gen Z'er who uses TikTok for three and a half years. Out of everything I had witnessed or experienced (despite the longer duration of screentime), I'm glad to admit that I never manipulated myself, or fall into buying trendy products, which do not even have a purpose or/and that is unnecessarily a waste of money.
Same, I had to get my screen time under control at first cause it was ROUGH lmao, but the most I’ve done was recently download a game I saw advertised that’s actually pretty fun and beautiful to look at. My fyp consists of humor, art, and people calling out this madness
Deadass. Though, I'm 22 and downloaded tiktok when I was 17, so I wasn't young enough to get as easily influenced. But, never have I bought something off the shop or took anything I saw face value until I did my own research. It's so wild how many young people within my generation is so easily influenced into being the worst people to exist.
@Kerastalise Yes cause the only point of tiktok is to be a consumer.🙄 Most people should just be there to watch videos. Lol. Shop on places where it won't get advertised to children who don't need it (retinol creams for example).
@@r1gbysj0k3rrch2 Tbf, if none of the kids actually does research on why retinol will damage the skin when there isn’t an issue, it would be kinda funny that they destroyed what they were trying to “fix”.
Not to defend the watertok girlies, but a lot of places in the US don't have clean tap water that you can just drink. Of course you can do other things that are less wasteful like buy a water filter depending on the situation but just wanted to mention that, as someone who lives near the infamous Flint, MI
This. My family actually bought a water cooler that we just get refilled at the gas station whenever it gets low, it's a house of 10 and we have 2 of the plastic jugs which we fill at once. Lasts us a good few weeks and not that much money long term, when I get my own house I'll probably get one there too (just with one jug cuz y'know, not a house of 10 anymore)
The ice thing reminded me of a video named "I made every pastashape to prove a point" by the channel "answer in progress", where they try to find out why there are so many shapes. The answer might surprise you, had a bit of a sad side to it, but also a very positive one, and it could have a bearing on this ice thing. You should watch it. Whether there's something to take away from it with regards to this or not, it's a fun video.
I have a legitimate sugar addiction and even I am baffled by people putting flavored sachets and syrups into water. Like... can you not just drink the water? Does it taste that terrible to all of these people? Is the water just boring to them because it's clear and not a fun color? Are they aiming for diabetes or tooth loss? What is happening?
Actually I know some Autistics who can’t stand normal water because of its lack of flavour, so while they might not go this far, it isn’t uncommon. They were made for a reason. And the actual source of water talk was someone who was trying to make people feel less glum about having a liquid diet after surgery. It was rooted in a good cause.
@@fantasiakeith9199 Oh wow, I had no idea. Thank you for your insight! I was just being a smart ass, I totally understand why some people don't like plain water, but I appreciate you sharing this. 🖤
Restock channels are insane: I watched a woman with these _ridiculously_ long French-polished nails take deli meat out of its' package- not even to separate it for the freezer- it just went in the fridge; she just moved it from its' commercial packaging, to put it in some ✨aesthetic✨ container - but only gave her fingers a delicate rinse after doing so, & I was like, _ugh_ I felt the need to wash *my own hands* after that... The manual Dishmatic scrubber, holds dish liquid, but *doesn't* require electricity or batteries to use.
What is different between a Starbucks cup collector and figurines collector? It is both plastic, both make the person happy. It is just that one is acceptable by society as a good thing to collect and the other isn’t. Go give the same energy to people who collect figurines, Lego sets and other stuff.
@@gab1888 only problem with that buddy, is that toys and figurines and such become more valuable with time. Like the first transformers toys are worth a lot of money if you have them in box. The fact you mentioned Lego is hysterical, because old Lego sets unopened can be worth a few thousand dollars today. Not sure the same can be said about a Starbucks cup… Also just because I didn’t mention figurines doesn’t mean I don’t also think that it’s stupid and wasteful. But good job going to “what about ism,” as a weak attempt to tear down my comment. That’s exactly why we are in the mess we are in, because of people like you who say “what about this and what about that?” As if that changes the issue at all, or excuses it. Learn proper debate tactics, rather than resorting to “what about isms” to make a point, otherwise run the risk of sounding like an ass when you make your assumptions based on shallow information, and ignorance.
I can understand getting like the little koolaid powers/syrups for your water every once in a while. BUT WATERTOK IS FUCKING WILD WITH THIS SHIT… With the containers for fridge restocking, the only thing I think is okay is like, cereal (no I don’t store my cereal in the fridge) for if you like, have 2 boxes of the same cereal and put both in the container, but still it’s just like, whhyyy For the cars, the sunglasses duh, on your head, but for like garbage, my parents put like, a grocery bag on the stick and never put food in it because of ✨MOLDING✨ Edit: And with the phone in the shower thing the only acceptable reason to have that is to like, change your song on Spotify without drenching your phone, but even still, just keep a rag nearby and dry you hand before grabbing your phone 😭😭
I will say as someone with prescription glasses/sunglasses its not that easy for me just... slip them on. so having a spot my regular glasses stay and don't break is helpful.
@@devilfightersame. My Honda Odyssey has a space for glasses/sunglasses. And actually has ALOT of storage features, cup holders etc. I don't need to clutter my car w any more unnecessary JUNK than needed.
What is SERIOUSLY concerning is the fact that there are companies making all this stuff specifically for indulging and promoting these disorders, and promoting the degenerating of our planet in the process. Very, very sad 😢😢
As a collector, I feel like the Starbucks cup and Stanley cup girls give us a bad reputation I will admit my purchase history is not the most impressive in the terms of saving money when I am spending over $100 on model horses that are gonna sit on a shelf for the rest of their life but I don't store them in cardboard boxes they get aligned nicely on shelves organized in whatever order I decide I like for that time this system of storage is not because I want them to look nice it's because I don't want them to get scratched by storing them in boxes because as soon as they get scratched up a little a $300 horse becomes a $75 horse
idk anything about model horses but at least you can say for collector type objects (im thinking mostly vinyls, fragrances or old posters/ephemera) you're buying ART and supporting it. I wish I had the space for stuff like that and keeping it alive. That's actual living history vs this mass produced slop. On the extreme end you got the single male apartment meme (how i live bc i get claustrophobia easy from a childhood with a hoarder parent).
So I will say this: people love collecting things. And collectors aren't thinking "oh, I NEED this item to live." They go "I like collecting these things and this just adds to it." Now, Stanley cup girlies that have four of the exact same cup... yeah that's insane. The Starbucks cup lady for me walks a bit of a fine line because on one end, yeah she wants the complete collection. But... oof that is a lot of cups that aren't organized. I've also come to find that unless you like collecting that thing, you don't understand. And you judge. I'm sure people would look at me like I'm deranged for spending $30+ on a kpop album but I enjoy it. Also, "making a skyrim healing potion" LMAO
I don’t own Stanley cups but yeah, that’s me. I like buying random DVDs that I set aside to watch later even if I don’t have the time to watch them, let alone like the genre they’re in. I’ve got 23 DVD cases just gathering dust in the corner right now…
Exactly what im saying! I collect pin backed buttons. I have hundreds of them. I will never wear them all nor do they serve a specific purpose other than making me happy. I think if someone wants to collect something, people on the outside wont understand.
Yes! I collect various things like dvds books and figures but I keep it neat and organized. Yeah it may be a waste of money for some but not for me. It makes me happy. It’s my money and if I have extra I can do what I want with it. I don’t get having like 4 of the same item at all that’s crazy and absolutely unnecessary.
That what I was thinking it’s not exactly the same but I’m collecting every version of all the books in my fave series and some people think I’m weird for that sinse I don’t read the hardcover versions
i love collecting but i collect music like records and CDs, even though they don't help the environment, if they are in good condition they can keep being passed down and reused. they are also organized!
I agree with much but i want to note that i disagree with the "It's not made to be a collectors item"-statement. A lot of things arent made to be collectors items, yet people get joy from collecting them. I collect dragon toys and bones amongst some other things, neither of those are meant to be collectors items. Some people collect mugs or shoes or other things and whilst those things are "meant to be used" people can be happy building a collection out of those things. If it escalates into becoming unhealthy or excessive regarding the amount of money spent on the collection or if the collection takes away way too much space in the flat then there should be a slow down but as long as nobody gets affected negatively by the collection i don't think it matters much what the collected item exactly is.
Actually, I'd venture to say that putting your onions and tomatoes in those containers would spoil them faster. It's best to leave them in the open, or stored in a moisture free environment.
A lot of these people wouldn't be doing all this if they weren't making money from it. They get sponsors / cuts. The real scary part of 'overconsumption' is all the people they are influencing to buy more stuff they don't need. Also, I don't think the influencers are actually buying the products. I'm guessing the companies send it to them to make a video.
I 100% agree with the Starbucks cups, I have collections too! I have a collection of body mists (total of them is about $55 I got 4 of them on sale for $5) this is ridiculous. 😨
I've never been on tiktok and don't defend any of this but as for drinking tap water, I don't know how things are where you live but in the states our government doesn't feel it's financially necessary to properly filter our drinking water. Installing your own filter or getting a Brita pitcher makes the most sense but drinking unfiltered tap water in excess can be extremely harmful here. Tbh the amount of toxins and prescription drugs we absorb just showering in this water is insane. Then on top of not properly filtering our water many cities and towns have very old plumbing so there's things like led being absorbed from the pipes. It's all just really terrible and there's not enough awareness about it.
