I’ve been watching for some years and I just love how you guys experiment with these shotgun rounds. Some of these I feel like you can brand and make more money from them instead of RU-vid, but you still continue to entertain us AND teach us and I just twang you say we really appreciate the content.

This is the perfect home defense round. If I'm being attack by a home I'd want to use these.

Funny enough this is just a miniaturized version of something that already historically existed at one time. Canons aboard naval, merchant, and pirate vessels during the 1500-1700's could be loaded with "chainshot" which were two smaller canon balls connected to each other with cast iron chain. They could, of course, cleave men in half... but their primary purpose was actually to wrap around and damage the masts and sails of the enemy ship.

I find these very intriguing as they essentially place a hard cap on how much your buckshot will spread.

This is a round that deserves mass production. I can't honestly think of anything better for self defense than being able to control the spread of lead downstream, while still giving a nice wide firing area for less experienced or capable shooters, while at the same time producing a wound or set of wounds that would be utterly and completely devastating to an attacker. This round is limb-shearing in its potential. Very nice. Maybe one of my all time favorites. Excellent work, sirs.

The perfect HD rnd is whatever you can put in the intruder quickly and accurately that doesn't overpenetrate and endanger family or neighbors...

Old naval cannons had a shot that was two small balls with a chain attached to them. They would aim at the sails and rigging to disable the ship.

Also, I have literally hundreds of rosaries, now I'm gonna load a shell with a slightly modified silver rosary , and make a superior anti vampire round.

Fascinating. I've seen this referred to as chain shot in a book from the 1950s. The method of making it was crimping lead split shot fishing weights onto wire, or pulling a buckshot cartridge apart, splitting the shot with a knife blade, and crimping them into the wire. I always wondered how it might work. Or if it would work. And what would happen in a rifled barrel!

How about a MKII version, with the wire in a loop to keep the shot closer together? On the string version, they are able to spread out more, ideal if you're defending yourself against an advancing home, in a loop they should group tighter and you'd be able to use it to defend against an attacking Wendy house, as they're much smaller.

Looks like a good round that needs to be in production.

My dad was a us deputy marshal from 1920-60 and showed us this round using piano wire but keeping the set up in a circle instead of a line. We used it to cut down small trees of about 20 inches in diameter. 2-4 rounds and the tree was down. This was in the 60-70's. I haven't used the round since I joined the military in 78. It was a great round for trimming tree limbs also.

My brother and I made similar rounds back in the late 1950s. We used lead split shot fishing sinkers and monofilament fishing line except we only tied 2 sinkers together and loaded 3 pairs per shell. That monofilament line made very effective brush and small sapling cutters.

Here's an interesting one for you guys to possibly try through an air rifle! Q tips!! I was cleaning my 4.5mm air rifle one day and noticed that q tips made a fairly tight fit in the barrel (i was poking one down the barrel and seeing how much fowling it had on it) so as a thought I figured maybe if I shot one through the air rifle it would have a sort of instant cleaning effect on it.... now mind you this was a fairly powerful air rifle for what it was and would push a led slug at 900+ fps the type of thing you could easily go and take rabbits and other small game with. So I set up a back stop in the shed thinking it would be perfectly fine to do it inside because while I was confident enough that it would spit the q tip out the other end I didn't think it would seal very well( due to it only being the cotton on the end making it fit) and build up enough pressure to really send the thing flying... Anyway this thing went straight through my backstop and ended up sticking itself inside a bag of whey powder I had sitting behind it and judging by the incredibly loud crack it made and the ringing in my ears pushed this q tip at easily 1200 fps... anyway I think it would be cool if you guys could get your hands on a air rifle around the same power and see what some q tips would do to some gel and maybe try get a chrono reading! cheers

If I recall, buckshot fired from a rifled barrel tends to spread out too much unless you are firing at very short range. The wire definitely prevented that from happening, so that is kind of interesting. Might be cool to do an A/B comparison between buckshot through a rifled barrel with and without the wire. Same gun, same velocity, etc, but with and without wire.

Awesome fun round! I'd love to see MORE tests with this round!! Ballistic gel, dry wall, watermelon, multiple water jugs for penetration, layers of hot dogs, a basket of apples, all kinds of food so we can see how great it truly is at slicing food.

I'd love to see you putting the rosary of death into the hull. Sorta see how it's put together.

We used to do this some 40 years ago and used split shot sinkers attached to 50lb test fishing line and called them bolo rounds - - they were pretty mean and did damage to trees pretty good!

8:09 I really enjoy the one joke that OG knows. Jokes aside, I'm astonished these rounds not only stayed together but also hit what you were aiming at. I love test videos, especially when the results are so unexpected.

That slow motion shot of the clay block getting hit was incredible! The clay splashes as if it were a liquid because it is a non-newtonian material. The water contained in it rapidly expands when hit with a fast enough projectile.

Definitely a great home defense round. Looks like it has some good penetration capability, so if firing in home, you would have to be careful of calateral damage, as always, but this round looks brutal.
