According to those writers, God put his people there, and he freed them, so they should be eternally grateful. What's notable is that any other culture might have said, well this civilization successfully conquered us, therefore we should switch to worshiping their gods. The authors of the Torah, however, said it's all the same God and he did this for good reason. This is probably the main reason why the religion didn't die off, despite the ancient Hebrews never being a powerful or dominant civilization.

I've gotten as many different answers/excuses as there are believers. I think it has to do with a sincere effort to reconcile their own higher morality with the morality they were taught to believe is higher than theirs, though it obviously isn't.

They can't conceive anything that you could actually say that should warrant an infinite punishment, so the idea of blasphemy as the "unforgivable sin" has become more of a boogyman threat, used to scare believers into staying on the straight and narrow path, and not something actually possible of doing by anyone, intentionally or accidentally, and thus nobody is ever actually beyond salvation if they would "simply repent and accept Jesus into your heart".

After that I’d gone to other religions see what they have to offer. But for me it always comes down to there being not nearly enough evidence for the religion. The best evidence I could find to verify the bible would have to be mount sinai/horeb in saudi arabia. There are many misunderstandings with this sin. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit isn't the same as any regular blasphemy. That is because it's not like some raw one time thing that you do. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit comes form the heart and is commit through multiple instances of constant rebellion. The unforgivable sin is not unforgivable because God won't want to accept your forgiveness, but because you won't want to ask for his forgiveness. It's not that he won't, he can't.

If he can't do something, then he's not all powerful.

I find it ironic that the one thing keeping this version of God from being all-powerful is the inability to be made whole in critique yet to require such would require abolishment of blasphemy which is not very God-like in itself. Weir, because here in Italy the law against blasphemy is still active. It’s not commonly enforced in the day by day life, but if you do it in television/radio, it WILL be because at tgat point there is evidence accessible to everyone. To the point that several football team managers have in the past got a ban for getting caught by the camera saying a blasphemy during a match…not even something that could be heard (thay have no microphone), but caught by looking AT THE LABIAL. That is enough to get heavily sanctioned. And this is an outdated law that still no one wants to abolish because…the church is against abolishing it. When I was a kid, this verse broke my sanity, because I believed this stuff and I knew I had committed “blasphemy.” This is what makes me wonder about the “real Christians.” I had WAY too much devotion to Christianity and too much integrity to lie about what the verse said to myself. I have to wonder about the people for whom lying comes so easily.

The Bible does make one thing clear: You commit this sin by SPEAKING. Not by “rejecting” the Holy Spirit’s so called “influence” in your heart. Just another example of how Christians make up whatever shit they want to help make their horrific Holy Book seem less horrible. Also btw, Christians REALLY need to stop saying that “thinking about committing a sin is the same as already doing it”. It’s not.
