People may be so happy about religion because they have a loving community, they feel they won't be alone because they have God, they feel in the end, they will be ok, they feel safe, and in a world that can be horrible, people will reach out for something so positive and reassuring. People want something to believe in, maybe they can't find happiness anywhere else and religion can give them a sense of belonging and feeling loved, in the end, that's usually what a human wants. Plus not having something to believe in can make people uncomfortable and is a scary thought for many, having something to believe in can make someone feel satisfied that they understand why they are here. You don't have to believe in God to be satisfied with life, and maybe that's why so many people don't wanna leave or believe something else because they want to be satisfied with life and don't wanna risk losing it, so they don't even question because they're scared and want what's best for themselves (which is ok) but they become less open-minded
