For some reason any videos about history of black metal you see these days claim “unusual song structures” 🤨. It’s always been mostly - intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, some sort of interlude or rarely a solo, chorus twice, outro 🤷🏻‍♂️

ppl who started playing Black Metal with the corpse paint then later stopped wearing it because of it becoming a "trend" shows within it's own genre how much of a trend it actually is& how they see it's irrelevance to Black Metal. i understand doing things out of spite for the masses& unoriginal thought processes but you abandon the origins& importance of an aspect of something when you do that.
@dEAthlikEstAtic

the death of Euronymous helped Black Metal go back to just another music genre &empty trend to make a living off of instead of a movement based on actions. Varg did to Black Metal exactly what christianity does/did to other people's cultures/lives &it's not surprising considering Odin is just another cultures version of God, they're all the same God just played out in different times/cultures. people who usually believe in God want God to express Itself through just one person or culture because they more than likely don't understand what God actually is, it gives that culture power which is what a lot of people want &it excuses people in a way from taking full responsibility in what they're supposed to do for themselves.

Black Sabbath didn't have satanic themes at all. Geezer Butler's lyrics were typically about drug abuse, insanity, war, conformity, governments and generally real life issues.
@crownofrebellion
@crownofrebellion 8 месяцев назад
Indeed. Although I might not have been clear on what I meant. My reference was to imagery. More specifically album covers. Although the band itself were not satanic. They have influenced bands who would later come into being. Remember this video is about black metal. I was just trying to point out that Satanism and the Occult in metal did not start with black metal. It just became more serious and true. The fire of the Adversary was always present in metal and this can be traced as far back as Black Sabbath. I say it again. Not Sabbath's lyrics. Only the art and atmosphere as well. I'm sure you get what I'm trying to say🙂

Venom?
@DustyLeeSledge
@DustyLeeSledge 6 месяцев назад
Yeah. I think all the stuff Venom did in the late 70s was simply coincidental. True Black Metal was started by Bathory specifically the sophomore album.
@stevsh89
@stevsh89 5 месяцев назад
Venom were the starting point other bands would build on - that meld of the speed metal of motorhead with Satanic themes was the genesis. Each band after would just push this more in an extreme direction either in terms of speed, distortion or lyrical themes
@DustyLeeSledge
@DustyLeeSledge 5 месяцев назад
@@stevsh89 I disagree. Based on your logic; Black Sabbath would be considered Black Metal... Oh also... Motley Crue ... They have song "Shout at the Devil" And they wore all kinds of leather spiked clothing. *IMO* Venom just got undeserving credit because they just happened to call there sophomore album "Black Metal" Hell Hammer/Celtic Frost and Merciful Fate has more of an influence on Black Metal bands that came out in the early/mid eighties and most bands in the nineties. True/Real Black Metal started with Bathory. You will never convince me otherwise.
@stevsh89
@stevsh89 5 месяцев назад
@DustyLeeSledge Sabbath is the starting point for all metal and its genres ultimately. Your point on motley crue is ridiculous. Venom sounded completely different to other bands at the time and were the first to actively embrace sounding evil and trying to scare people. Not just the lyrics but their music was fast, aggressive, vocally pushing boundaries towards extreme metal and importantly also contained the beginnings of atmosphere with tracks like Buried Alive. If you can't hear how much bands like Hellhammer/Bathory sounded like Venom, you need to get your ears checked. I agree both of these bands then pushed things further towards what we know as black metal today but Venom was the first obvious step in that direction. Not to mention the stage names too.
@DustyLeeSledge
@DustyLeeSledge 5 месяцев назад
@@stevsh89 You need to get your ears checked "Buried Alive" has more in common with "One" by Metallica than anything Bathory ever put out. You will never convince me. Venom is just another over rated limey generic metal band. Nothing special.

Odin is God, the head "main" God figure in paganism like God/YHWY is in judeo•christianity. why would ppl in Black Metal hail Odin/God when the origins r Satanic? even from Venom & others in the "1st wave" who were introducing a more atheistic type of satanism.

@@masterroshi2779 The Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album had an interesting cover with the angels comforting the person on the front and the demons clutching at him on the back. I know that Bill Ward is either an Agnostic or an Atheist but Ozzy always maintained that he believes in God as does Geezer Butler. In the case of the latter it was due to getting too heavily into the occult.

I went to see Cannibal Corpse and the opening band was black metal, it was good show, but at the end the singer told the crowd to repeat after him "hail Satan" like the Nazis and then realized that I can support Death Metal bands but No Black Metal. I don't believe in heaven or hell, so why follow the lord of darkness? Death metal is like horror films , is art. Black Metal is like religion, too many sheeps followers
@crownofrebellion
@crownofrebellion Год назад
Ok I see what you're saying and yes some bands believe this, others not. Some do it as an opposition or an invocation of power but no use mentioning that to someone who doesn't understand. Also there are even more that deal with Gnosticism, real occultism which goes far beyond your common Satan worship. There are bands who have lyrics based on philosophy, nature, Hermeticism, Individualism, Mythology etc, these are only a few examples the list goes on but to disregard the entire genre based on just one incident is an act of folly. What about satanic death metal, ever hear that? What about metal in general? Are occult and satanic themes not in all metal genres? Metal has always dealt with topics other genres tend not to. The forbidden or occult. This is only one of the reasons why it resonates with so many people, as it serves as a voice,something real that people can actually relate to, if a band has lyrics that you don't resonate with. Just move on....but black metal is much deeper than you think. So think before you make such statements. Just a thought. 😄
@jedimindtricks7589
@jedimindtricks7589 Год назад
@@crownofrebellion True, some death metal bands are more satantic than some black metal bands. both death and black are very diverse genres, not to mention that even satanism itself is very diverse. Dark funeral believes in the church of satan/Anton Lavey's satanism while Watain are real theological satanists.
