This is the seventh video in a longform series on my 2022 westbound through-hike of the 1200 mile Pacific Northwest Trail. It's a vlog that details my experience hiking the trail and tries to share some of the beauty and meaning that I found along the route.
This installment covers the section between the the town of Republic, WA and the town of Oroville, WA. This was a pretty calm section with some lovely highlights on the Kettle Crest and in getting to experience the landscape open up a lot more into drier ecosystems with interesting and diverse kinds of forests that are different from any other point along the PNT. There was certainly also a lot of road-walking in this section in 2022.
Check out the website for the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, it has an amazing overview of the history of the Tribes in the area and even has audio examples of how to say their names in Salish!

Thanks very much for watching. And thanks to the PNTA for all their work on the PNT.
The score in these videos is all music I have made to accompany them using Ableton.

I love the flora and fauna shots and history of the trail and natives. SO much better than just a vlog of what your personal experience is, more of a documentary. Awesome dude for real.

I worked last summer on the Okanogan National Forest in the Pasayten Wilderness as a Ranger. Can't wait to see you slogging through the miles and miles of deadfall on the boundary trail! Great video can't wait for the next installment

Hahahahaha, as you know it is a truly special and unique experience! It'll be a while as my other work is in full swing... but it should be a fun episode for sure 😂

Some of my favorite camera-work from you in this series yet! Wonderful stuff. "Cathedral of Bodies" Gotta be the title to some project of yours in the future. Also, thank you for your thoughts on indigenous history, and how that impacts (or should) the way we understand our own place here.

Congrats on making the halfway point! I was glad to see another video post on your journey and have been following along since I discovered this series a couple of months ago. I very much look forward to your episodes and love that you are integrating the Native American history into your journey as well.

@@mjolo21 Thanks so much, I'm honored. 😊 It's gonna take me a long time to finish the series (my main work is in full swing now) but hearing that is very motivating! Also that's awesome, the PNT essentially makes a line from one of your heritages to the other, so I can certainly see why it would be of interest! I'll keep trying to do my best to share what I saw and felt on my walk through so many special places.
