You did an excellent job of pre evaluating what information was valuable to potential customers, left me with zero questions and a boat load of knowledge about this lighting element, Thank you.
That Predator Arena Light is the best.you can literally see the minimal shadow of the ball and I think, for me,that's the main reason and the distribution is perfect.great video.I always dream to have one of those Brunswick professional table and the Aramith Belgian billiard ball.it's just impossible to happen.
Excellent review Brandon. I assembled my 8' light by myself in about the same time. Easy peasy if you watch all the videos first. I covered up the light leakage at the joints with strips of black Gorilla tape. Complete blockage of the leak and you can't see the tape if you try because of the brightness of the fixture. (I also have the black frame). One other point for those that might ask. I have a 16' x 20' pool room and the Predator light lights up the whole room with no other lighting in the room.
Thank you for sharing your experience and tips, Rick. You're right about the Predator Light's ability to light up a whole room. The Predator Light was the only light source we used to record this video review. Having the light will make it easier for me to record more pool videos. :)
That light is awesome. Your review is perfect. but WOW 1 grand for LED? Considering it's made in China and I have had over 5 years experience with LED lighting from China and suffice it to say it's only recently become better in terms of reliability. Might have to make my own to see how I come out in term of lumins and flexibility.
Are the ball shadows uniform? Do you have any issues in the middle of the table with the shadows affecting your ability to see the balls correctly? I don't know if I want this light or a diamond light that covers the entire table. Comparing it to a 3 lamp light isn't really a fair comparison.
Nice. I have a 9 ft pool table with a rwgular hanging pool table light. However I wanted to get one of those ping pong table tops to put on top of my pool table to play ping pong, but my current light will get in the way of playimg. So I was thinking about replacing the light with a Perimeter Billiard™ LED Pool Table Light like yours. Iam assuming I can mount it higher than the regular pool table lights so I can play ping pong? Also I wanted to know if I will be good to use a 7ft pool table light on my 9ft pool table?? I also may downsize from 9ft pool table to 8ft pool table I don't know yet.
The worst part about this light was having to convince the significant other that I needed a $1500 light over my $9,000 table. But now the two times a year we have get together a big enough to sit around my fancy dining table top it will at least be excellently lit 😎
Hi nice review question does the light reflection on the balls bother you I struggled to find the aim any suggestions we have one here in nz for tv table dont like the light reflection buzzing off the Shiney balls I fell now I know why earl wears sun glasses
Brandon can you please do a video on the diamond system. And how to understand it As well as how to count between the diamonds correctly. Thank you sir...
hey brandon, i'm trying to find information about Rasson tables! not much online, i see you have one can you please do a review video? (or reply with your opinions) i am hearing they come un-level and sound funny because of aluminum frame?, how similar is the play? whats your overall opinion of them? compared to diamond
Thank you Brandon for this informative video. You answered all the questions I had about the light. May I ask if you could post the video of the assembly? Also is the 66" from the table surface recommended, or is that what you went with because you had the available ceiling height? I ask because I may not be able to ge that height, but it may help with not lighting up the remainder of the room--quite so much. I appreciate it. Thanks
That looks awesome. Wish I would have known about this about 10 months ago. Side note: Any chance of you doing a review of the new Viking Siege carbon fiber shaft? I haven't seen one anywhere and you always do a good job.
How did you mount the gopro in that position over the table to the light?? I just got my predator lights last weekend and am trying to figure this out! Would appreciate your advice
Hi Nancy, we basically set up the camera on an articulated arm and installed that into the ceiling directly above the pool table. We used a "Wall Plate with 5/8" Locking Receiver" that was purchased from B&H Photo. Make sure to turn on the "Linear" lens mode on your GoPro, to avoid any fisheye distortion.
@@BilliardsDirect so does that mean that it uses individual diodes? If so , that will be a pain in the ass. It would have to be sent back to the company to be repaired when they fail. They only last a year or two
@@bubbalands The Predator Light uses thousands of individual LEDs, positioned behind a prismatic diffusion lens. The LEDs are not user replaceable, but they are each rated for a lifetime of 50,000 hours. Based on that 50,000 hour rating, the LEDs in the Predator Light should last about 17 years, if used for 8 hours every day. The Predator light also has a 3-year warranty, with the manufacturer stating they will "replace any defective parts at no cost".
What a ridiculous price for something is suspect build quality and maybe $100 in materials. You'd be better off getting a hex grid system of lights, and the shadows would be considerably less as well.
I have played under these lights. Don't really like them. They have these at jointed cue in Sacramento. Everywhere you are the light shines very close to your face. When you walk around the table the intense light is much closer to your eyes which in imo glares.
Quality of fitment between the corners is crap they need to make a better kit so it's flush and even. That poor quality control and to tell the customer you have reassemble to get the perfect fitment.
