Can I just say that I love that after God scolds Moses for not believing in him, he immediately goes to comfort him, like a parent would do for a child. That just...hits me.
Just like it says in the Bible, God will chastise us when we need to be. But even then, He will be waiting with open arms to embrace and comfort us. Just because He disciplines us from time to time doesn't mean He doesn't love us. If anything, it further emphasizes His love.
@@SaiyanSweetheart45 But why do we deserve to be scolded if we don't believe in him? Faith is not a choice, you can't choose what you believe in. So why should we be judged on something we are not in control of?
@@viktorthevictor6240 Realistically He has given us free will so that we make our own choices. But there is still right and wrong and He expects us to make the right choices. On putlocker the version I hear is higher pitched for both Moses and God. The dub is actually different, it's not just altered audio. Can someone shed some light on this? Are there two English dubs for this scene, and which one was first?
This is true depiction of God's character. He is the perfect father. He is a father who disciplines His child so they will not end up in the path to destruction. Being in His presence is the most precious thing in the whole world. It gives you true eternal peace and joy that won't fade away ;)
Fun fact: the part where God scolds Moses was not written by the screenwriters. They are direct quotes from the Old Testament. To be honest, I was really impressed when I found out how much this movie kept to the original story.
My one complaint about God's voice (and don't get me wrong, a LOT of movies do this) is that there is so little emotion. Yes, this IS God, the Supreme Creator, Sustainer, and Ruler of all creation, but He is also creation's Father. The stiff and monotone sounds movies usually default to don't do God's relationship with His children justice...
@@andreasmeelie1889 a voice with emotion. That rose and and fell depending on what was being said. It might not be as bad as I make it sound, but there is still MASSIVE amounts of room for improvement on this front. Again, yes, God is the Supreme One, but he is also our Father, who has an intimate relationship with His children. This voice doesn't do it right.
There are other equally good translations from Hebrew for this which i find better: "I am who I am", "i will be who i will be", and "i become what i become"
When God slowly picks up Moses and softly says "Oh Moses..." I can't hold back the tears. To feel the warmth and embrace of The Lord truly is one of the best feelings in the world. That’s a good point. For it to be a kid’s Disney movie, the story would have to be watered down a lot. They would also need to make Jesus darker skinned to be accurate.
@Stefan Urban He creates calamity, through His just judgement, that's what 'evil' means in that context. God is *NOT* morally evil. He could never be omnibenevolence, commanding us to live righteous and holy lives, while also being evil. That doesn't make sense. And darkness isn't always bad. It depends on the context. It was dark in the universe before He created light. He made it so the sky gets dark at night. Evenings and nights aren't evil.

BloodSlayer429 If God were to solve the situation without killing anyone, that would be a wonder befitting a merciful and benevolent god. The bible never specifically states that He follows us along every plight. Your belief violates Gods word and for it you will NOT be going to heaven. This is exactly what's wrong with today's world. We lack the divine understanding to see God is dead, surpassed by his peers who've simply forgotten about this world to enjoy the universes splendors. The entry to heaven has long since closed and your soul will ONLY enter if you live by the bibles literal word. Please do not be misled by the Catholic churches 500 year lie that your God could even still be with you.

(Idk if you're Christian of Muslim, but if your Christian - maybe my comment would help you feel a little better❤) I'm not native speaker so I don't quite understand what "struggling with the faith" means, bit if it's "being about to stop believing" - I understand this. I have a really bad habit: to force myself into a corner bc of any reason. Sometimes the reason was about my faith. I remember how I asked: "Am I even a believer? I don't feel anything, but I kinda admit the Bible is true... what if I only wanted to be believer but not really am?". Another time I felt like I was turning into another religion. I didn't want it but for some reasons I couldn't convince what the Christianity IS the truth. At both situations, I got tired and just left it to God cause He said "neither shall anyone snatch them out of My Father's hand" (John 10:29). And it helped! He kept me safe! And them I asked about other my worries He hepled also! So, I believe He will (even if He didn't yet) help you. He loves YOU and won't let you to forget Him❤ Hope you're okay now❤

I always point out to people that when Moses got the Ten Commandments, God came DOWN to his level, one-on-one. It showed God was someone they could address and trust, not just some *thing* that directed the people. God has the authority, but knew Moses was small, so it was as if they talked directly. He didn’t have to do that, but did.
I can relate. I was literally just brought to tears watching this again. God has blessed me so abundantly recently after a series of trials. Even though I didn't earn it or deserve it, He still watches out for me when I call on his name. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to be in his presence.
Alexie Toledo disagree with what part, cause it’s all true. If you disagree with the anger part, I can understand. In the Old Testament God was much more aggressive, but even then, he was pretty patient. He was annoyed at how long his people had been enslaved, and how evil Egypt was. When he decided to use Moses, only for him to talk back, he got REALLY annoyed, but in the end he utilized Moses in incredible ways.
@@williambarrantes1674 I don't think he's compassionate and therefore not rich in love. Definitely not slow to anger. If he was so annoyed by slavery, how come later he established the rules for it? And why those incredible ways of using Moses were mostly about destruction and death? I don't think that was compassionate or slow to anger.
Alexie Toledo if you’re referring to servitude in ancient times, that is not nearly like the slavery you think it’s like. Yes people were sometimes forced to become servants due to debts or being POW’s, but they were fed, clothed, and taken care of, so it was basically like being maids or cooks and stuff like that. No Godly person in the Bible ever treated someone like the slaves of recent times. Take for example Joseph, who was actually sold as a slave due to his brothers jealousy. He was a slave to Potiphar, yet he worked hard and became steward of the house. Even slaves could get raises and better positions. Slavery back then was a lot different from now, at least for Christians. Obviously the Egyptians weren’t too nice to their slaves but God didn’t like that
Alexie Toledo I also see that you’re commenting in other places, saying things against God. Listen man, whatever your going through, don’t get mad at him. I know sometimes it sucks, but if you don’t believe in him, at least don’t speak out against him. Try to be a good person, and once you realize that there is more to life than just maybe 100 years, he’ll come to you. You just have to let him in

To you two who are trying to rope him in to your spiritual doctrines, you are not helping him. And specifically to the person who said “just obey the Bible” that is precisely the opposite of what a person seeking greater spiritual understanding and comfort in their life should do. And to you, Lucas, the path you now walk is similar to the one that I walked along not too long ago. Speaking from experience, the best way to gain greater spiritual understanding is to read into the world like a poem. Look to the chaos of the world. Understand the intent behind the creation of a world incapable of accommodating our delusions of perfection and order, how it allows us to find our own fulfillment and meaning in life without knowing a higher being was breathing down our necks, and learn to embrace and thrive off of the chaotic and imperfect nature of our world. Perhaps most importantly, study other religions and philosophies. Plenty of atheists and nihilists I’ve seen online say things along the lines of “they can’t all be right but they can all be wrong.” But the key is that no one ever knows the full truth. That’s the point. But few people have the entire picture wrong. Taoism and Buddhism contain valuable teachings about learning to be at peace with the world and cast aside material desires. Shinto delves into how spiritual connectivity with the world can lead to an understanding of things beyond their physical appearances and their description by man. Countless faiths exist throughout the world, and all of them have something valuable to teach. Don’t tie yourself down to one particular group. Continually grow and change as you learn more and enlighten yourself. And most importantly, learn to live without certainty. This may seem like an absurd or foolish proposition, but it’s the most important thing I’ve said. One cannot believe they are certain of something without lying to themselves. Our minds and senses play tricks on us, and how exactly can we truly prove the world isn’t a gigantic illusion created by our own minds? Well, we really can’t. Don’t try to be certain. Learn to be confident in yourself and your ideas without being certain. It will make life more enjoyable, and it will allow you to be fully honest with yourself.

Not because he is too weak, but because that he becomes what he chooses to be. He would be able to lift that rock, no matter how heavy it was.

Fun fact: God's voice here is all of the actors' voices amalgamated. Also during the Plaque sequence, the voice of god is sung by a choir. Which states the fact that different people have different ways of hearing the voice of God.
@@eliasziad7864I disagree, respectfully. To me, one who believes in God and has recently come home to him from a life of torment and sin, it is accurate to my ears for humans to scratch the surface of what God might sound like by using ALL of the voice actors in this film at once or a choir of voices together. I say this not in argument to you, sir. I understand that it is very clear, pretending that God could have a human voice in an animated movie meant to educate, could be seen as blasphemy… if you have your eyes closed with negativity and pessimism. To me, it is not blasphemy to have many human voices in place of the script lines written into this movie, and in fact might be the ONLY correct, humble way to portray God’s talk with Moses. Because God’s word tells us that he speak through his followers. He speaks THROUGH mankind the ones who recognize him as our father. I am of the opinion that God would approve of the message in this movie being crafted the only humble way humans might know to portray him without meaning offense to our father. Indeed, if you look at this from a loving, devoted, kind, and optimistic perspective of this movie and story, then you would see how beautiful and humble and wonderful this scene is in something as little in God’s eyes as a drawn movie to help little children understand the story of just ONE of the humans God spoke through: Moses. I type this, not to offend you sir, and I hope you read this with an open mind. Just simply trying to provide a more positive example as you seemed distressed thinking that God would be offended by his children trying to find the most humble and respectful way to portray his voice on our physical plain for the purpose of spreading his word and story further in this modern age. There is no need to feel so negatively, I know it in my heart, in my soul, that this must be the only respectful way to portray our Father’s voice: by using the voices of his children, the followers that he biblically speaks through.

I absolutely ADORE the small echo that's been put on everything in this. That tiny edit makes the whole feel so much more ethereal and holy. Like the ancient biblical story it is.
I tear up every time. Here, Moses really lacked faith in himself, but in doing so he doubted the Lord. The Lord reminded Moses here "Remember who I am and what I have done! What reason do you have to doubt yourself when I do not doubt you?" Even if Moses's faith in his own ability is lacking, his faith in his guide, the Lord, shall be enough. I strive to apply this to other people as well, who were made in God's image. My older brother is teaching me about computer hardware, something I have always thought I would never be able to do. I grew up in a Christian household, but going into adulthood, I don't consider myself a very religious person, but I feel like no matter who you are, anyone can appreciate just how well executed this scene is. This is easily one of my favorite scenes in the entire history of animation. You just feel the epicness, the gravitas, and the weight of the scene in every frame and line of dialogue. the part where there's no dialogue, but he runs to his wife and explains to her what happens. the animators achieved every emotion that could be expressed with words, but did it only with movement. they captured the excitement and awe of moses and the shock, disbelief, and curiosity of zipporah with literally _only_ animation and that's just so amazing to me. one of my favorite parts of the film that truly makes it (along with the music, the previous burning bush part, and when moses parts the red sea and the hebrew people pass through it).
Plus not a stereotypical old man or Gandalf voice. I like that. A young, yet still boomy and powerful voice gives the sense of a strong leader. Do you know what I mean? Someone who is young and "healthy."
Also, like elitadream said below, and Daniel Kalban, it is not just one voice, but the whole cast, or a big amount of it, and the most prominent voice is played by Moses' voice actor, probably to simulate God speaking to his soul and not his ears. They pay respect to the fact that no one has heard God's voice and knows what it sounds like, so he is hearing it through his own inner voice, sort of. I only just found out it is the same person though. I'm not sure it is the same way in the Danish dub. But it is a wonderful detail in the original dub :)

I love how they gave God the same voice as Moses in this movie. When you think about it, it makes perfect sense. He is a living presence that can be felt, and heard murmuring to our hearts... but not with our ears, because God speaks to the soul instead. Furthermore... No one truly knows what God actually sounds like. The fact that the people behind this film were respectful and humble enough not to cast anyone to directly voice God Himself makes me appreciate it even more. It's both clever and brilliant.
That's actually really cool. Like its God coming to you in a way you can relate or not be to scared of. Hmm that would be cool if God talked to me like that face to face and he had my voice. :)
"I shall be with you Moses" at the end always gives me chills because it's what every Christian wants to experience. We want to experience that relationship with God where not only do we trust we hear his voice, but that he affirms that he with us always!
He didnt say that just to Moses. He says that to us every day - to go out there and to save our people from the evil of world, and to know He will be with us always. Whether we choose to hear it is the real question.
Oh I can just imagine them making a short animation about the story of Adam and Eve, even though I’m an atheist I would just love to see the designs for the garden, and the first humans.
This is one of the scenes that always give me chills no matter how many times I watch it . The voices, the echoes, the whispers, the buffing sound of the flames, the music ....the deeep but tender voice of Jehovah and Moses real fear and doubt. I also love how it was portrayed by sounds the things that Moses was going to say in the future ...it’s a beautiful scene...the visuals and the last year from Moses after understanding he was backed up.
It was also said that when Moses was speaking to God in the burning bush, hundreds of angels were stationed nearby watching the scene in wonder and amazement.
It makes sense if angels act the same way as how they’re usually depicted in fiction where even they do not understand why God considers mankind to be special. So here, they’re amazed at how a human gets a chance to speak to Father.

@@AppleOfThineEye How am I being sacrilegious? Do you think it's a good thing to hear voices in your head? It's a sign of a mental illness or even psychosis. How is my statement wrong or sacrilegious?
Alexie Toledo Just the one God actually 😅 (Allah is just the name of God btw). He’s the same God of Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammed. Peace be upon them all.
Just think, the one speaking to Moses is the one who became our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ or Yeshua. He is the God of the Old Testament. It's an amazing and humbling thing to realize that the entire purpose of the Old Testament, the Law, the Prophets, etc. is to lead us to Christ or the Messiah which was 1st prophesized in Gen 3:15 in the Garden of Eden. The purpose of the lamb in the Passover symbolized the lamb of God which is again Jesus Christ. The disciples of Jesus were first Jewish and that's where they became known as Christians afterwards. John 8: 58-"Before Abraham was-I AM!"
when God said he would smite Egypt, the scene showed Moses as being in awe as though it was so beautiful, even though the plagues were all pain and suffering, but thats just to emphasize how all things work for the glory of God, and the glory of God is a beautiful thing
"While artistic and historical license has been taken, we believe that this film is true to the essence, values and integrity of a story that is a cornerstone of faith for millions of people worldwide." Really shows you how carefully and wonderfully DreamWorks treated this story, so much so that not even atheists scoff at this scene. Even as a Christian myself, it's hard not to roll my eyes at some of the interpretations of modern Christian films. A Christian movie done this well is an absolute rarity.
Check out the post credits. There's a quote about Moses from the Talmud, the New Testament, and the Quran. When they were researching this film they consulted Christian, Jewish, and Muslim theologians. It's a Moses movie we can all agree with and love.
