Change the requirements to live in the city. Nobody is moving to Philadelphia.

What cop in their right mind would want to work somewhere where they are hated? I say all the cops leave and let nature take control.

Go to the suburbs if you want to be a cop. You won’t be arrested and or fired for doing your job.

Ive applied and took all the tests twice. Their are people applying they just DONT want to hire, they failed me on the last test and couldnt give me an exact reason. The hiring process in this city is a joke.

The hiring process for police officer in Philadelphia is THE ONLY JOB CLASSIFICATION, out of all the various occupations the city has where there is a need to give a reading comprehension test. That tells you something about the kind of applicants they are attracting.

Stop firing cops and trying to put them in jail for doing their jobs. Start there.

I will never apply with them. Even though I am perfect for the job. Unless we can bring frank risso back then I will never ever do it. Frank made this city amazing. He didn’t take no mess at all. We don’t have police officers or public leaders like him.

Hmm maybe it has to do with the current DA…..and the general disregard and disrespect towards law enforcement in philly. I remember a time when you could walk almost anywhere in philly and even take the subway. Not now a days

The PPD has lacked officers for a long time. Predates the pandemic.

A good number of them get weeded out on their first stop in the selection process when they fail the reading comprehension test. This is not levity. It's true.

What's the starting pay like? What is the percentage scale of an annual raise? What kinda work would entry-level cops be doing?

Over the last three Decades they Philadelphia Police Department has Worked real hard to keep black and brown people put of the police department. I applied for the police department three years after graduating college. I passed all the pre Training test, but I was turned down for getting arrested at age 16. I was falsely accused of hitting another teen with a bat and stealing money from him at a concert. I never touched the teen and was amongst the hundreds of concert goers who were walking by the area where this teen got jumped by a pack of other kids. I saw the police coming, and moved out of the way of the perpetrators who ran away. One of the officers just grabs me!!! I was found not guilty of charges. one lying police officer said he saw me hit the kid with the bat and rifle through his pockets and take money. The officer said he arrested me after a brief chase(I never ran anywhere. My lawyer asked the officer if the bat or any money was found on me or recovered on the path I supposedly ran. He said "no"). I got to appeal the decision of the police department turning me down, and sat in front of an three person Appeal Board made up on three Caucasians (two male , one female). I told them I never beat up or robbed anyone, and told them what happened. Between getting found not guilty at age 16, I graduated near the top of my high school class, got a scholarship, graduated college, and had 3 solid & consistent years of work experience. Not one arrest. Yet the PPD turned me down based on getting arrested at age 16 on something I didn't do & found not guilty. Then over the years I've listened to other black/brown applicants getting turned away for minor things. Doesn't matter of you have a felony free record or not. To be black and get into the PPD training class, your history must be spotless

The polygraph test needs to go they don't even use them in court in Philadelphia because it's unreliable so why are they still using it there's tons of people who made it to that point and couldn't pass it due to nervousness and they are failing because of that they asked my sister if it was Tuesday and it was and told her it said she was lying what does that tell you

WHAT A JOKE ,,,, we were lost and tourists and walking , we left rocky headed back to liberty bell ,,, lost and finally found 4 cops on a the corner ,,,we asked them where the LIBERTY BELL was and NOT ONE KNEW !!!!!!!WTF,,, A MAJOR ATTRACTION ,,,,,,,we were only approx. 5 blocke away ,,, YES ONE was even going to send us the WRONG WAY !!!!!!! WTF > who is training them !!!!!!

We won't need that many police of officers literally take time to educate our young people.

why when things get tougher law enforcement is the only organization that will lower the bar? Inviting more uneducated, uncontrollable, violent people to this profession. So many incidents seen on social media again and again of brutality, racism, and criminality within so many departments who in their right mind would want to attach the rest of their lives to such an organization? Those with all the power have everything they need to earn either hate or trust. It's in their hands. Until then Leo's nationwide will continue fo defund themselves. Just my opinion.

In the black community ppl just need to be heard.....why do u think they robbing slinging drugs? U think they like jail? I would certainly hope not.......They need money......if money is the problem share resources help then get to it legally. I try to talk to the young men who are willing to listen.... I love sharing and resources that I may have with them because in the long run it will benefit everyone
