The Queen Mother arrives at Buckinham Palace to the tune of the National Anthem. Later on, the whole of the Royal Family come out onto the balcony to greet the people. The Happy Birthday is played by the band once again.
It must have been a great sadness for the Queen Mother to see her daughter Margaret die in February 2002. Luckily, she re-joined her daughter just after seven weeks.
@Maurice Sherwood both the Queen mum and the Queen herself had their first 2 children in their 20s as did some of her other children like Anne and Andrew. The modern royals for the most part have pretty hardy genes with rarely a mention of cancer, stroke or dementia among them. And having four generations under one roof seems to be quite common for them since Queen Victoria met many of her own great grandchildren.
@Maurice Sherwood what’s a couple of weeks? 😄 The royals seem to pretty much follow the trend and get married and have kids when their peers do. So getting married and having kids in their 30s now is common. As it was in their 20s during the Queen’s time.
2:33 this reminds me of the time when my great grandmother and my grandmother were walking into the door of the apartment just like what the Queen is doing with the queen mother
I would like to see Elizabeth II standing on the balcony again with her Queen Mother in August 2010, celebrating her supercentenarian birthday. R.I.P., both Elizabeths
Dave J Yes I think you are probably right. Sorry, I should not have been so rude to you. But there, always was an opinionated big-mouth, but I have much affection for the Queen Mum.
Commovente questo filmato per l'affetto sincero delle Personei verso la Regina Madre. E Lei così teneramente gioiosa risponde con il suo sorriso. R.I.P.🌹
thanks for clearing that up i've actually searched it up since then, but you explained it alot better than google did. to be clear i wasn't hating on the queen, i respect her i know she's did alot to the people of her country especially people who have lost loved ones in iraq.
Whether monarchist or republican it's easy to see why she was so popular with so many people here and around the world.Ok,she did have a somewhat privileged life which may have contributed to her longevity in that she didn't have to struggle to,say, pay the bills or have to go out to work in the conventional sense. But she came across,at least in public,as a dignified matriarchal figure with the same sense of duty her daughter inherited.'Duty 1st,self 2nd'.Her legacy endures.
Telling that the future traitor, Harry Windsor, would appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace on such a momentous occasion, in jacket unbuttoned and hand in pocket.
What is the song that begins at 3:58? Did the Queen Mother pick that song to be played, or is that just a British Military Tune? I would greatly like to know to see if it's on iTunes, its so lovely. ^_^
Prince Philip celebrated his mother-in-law's centenarian birthday, but sadly wasn't able to get a centenarian celebration himself, as he died just nine weeks before his 100th birthday, on 9 April 2021, coincidencially on the 19th anniversary of the Queen Mother's funeral. I would like to see a new celebration of the Queen Mother in early August 2010, when she would have become a supercentenarian if living.
As good of physical shape Margaret seemed to be in here, it's odd that she couldn't muster up the strength to keep going at least until after her mother had already died, I guess she just gave up.
after grand mother died everything fell apart ,it was like the arc was gone I WAS on a mission in Washington dc when they told me my grad mother died she was upset I was going near the hope diamond
I find unbelievable that the first 4 royal family members stepping out onto the balcony are dead now. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother (1900-2002) Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) Prince Phillip (1921-2021) Princess Margaret (1930-2002)
I'm sure that Queen Elizabeth planned to celebrate another centenarian birthday last year, when Prince Philip was expected to turn 100 on 10 June, but he sadly died on 9 April, just nine weeks before his 100th birthday.
@@KingJackson11355 the Queen did not even live to the age Prince Philip had lived to on their 70-year-wedding day in November 2017. I was quite sure that the Queen would be able to celebrate her 100th birthday in 2026, compared to Prince Philip who failed to become a centenarian, but she sadly died just 17 months after her beloved Philip. Luckily the Queen was at least able to celebrate her platinum during in 2022, before passing away short after the summer.
