@@JustTryingToRU-vid 1 kg is 2.2lbs. Meaning to hit a 1:1 lb ratio you'd have to have 2.2x more horsepower. And if you wanted 2:1 you'd have to have 4.4x more horsepower
No-rules racing sounds good on paper, but in reality it usually leads to the team that can throw the most money at R&D sweeping the competition, like this Porsche. Sometimes it can become a safety issue too because the cars are just too fast. I will say though that a racing series with only light restrictions on power to weight ratios and such would be really interesting to see, and would be a nice departure from the FIA’s habit of instantly banning any new technology
Reminds me of that one race car that had a wastegate malfunction that caused it to make something like 500hp over what was supposed to be the limit, resulting in multiple lap records
I drove this beast irl in 2017 at Goodwood up the hill… I cannot describe to you the acceleration. It was like strapping yourself to the Saturn V rocket when the turbos came online. Absolutely NUTS. Never will feel acceleration like it again I don’t think… but that’s fine by me! What a car to go out on!
@@sighfly2928 The shifter was rock solid and so mechanical. I remember having to be pretty forceful to get each gearshift into the gate - if you half ass it it’ll grind. Clutch had a surprising amount of travel and a smooth bite point. I didn’t drive insanely fast round the corners due to the sheer value of it (regretfully a bit too slow, should’ve pushed a bit more) but all I wanted was to go full throttle for a few seconds on the straightest part, which I sure as hell got to do! 2nd/3rd gear to redline. Speechless. No car I’ve driven compares! I remember also being pleasantly surprised at how poised and light it felt. I was expecting something big and clumsy but nope!
Pretty sure the tires were still slipping because the engineers didnt account for how the weight distribution would be affected by Mark Donohue's massive steel balls.
Honestly I wish we had a race series where there were no rules. They just tell all the big car companies and race teams “whatever you want to race, send it.” No rules or limiting on the cars. Just maximum performance that’s able to be obtained by modern tech just to show what they’re capable of.
I think doing that in a race series is just asking for a boring race series where the team with the most money runs away with it and no one can compete. It's better the way it is now - well-regulated series, but with things like Pikes Peak, time attack and manufacturers setting lap records to demonstrate what cars can do when they're allowed to go crazy. Like the HKS Tsukuba time attack cars, the VW ID.R, Ford's recent electric SuperVan, the 919 Evo... Literally nothing could compete with the latter so I don't really think there's much entertainment to be had watching people try and fail, but we still get to see these cars in action.
"Throw out the rulebook!" Rally Group B: "But we tried that and were shut down after digging only a few spectators' fingers from our engines and a couple of drivers from ravines! Unfair!"
Was Car Leaning on banked Turns, less weight on Left Rear? Allows fish-tail Spinout to Wall - when we see Flat Tires & Cars hit Wall. NASCAR, Indy Watch F1 at U.S. GP, SUNDAY
The funny thing about the Can-Am series was that they were classified as “Group 7 cars” meaning that they if they were based off of a production/street legal car the design would have to be based around that car. But since none of them were production cars they could do whatever they wanted
That's the fun you have to guess where they stuffed the second person 😝😝😝 (also this is modern social engineering where a reel will put something in to trigger responses in the comments)
I know what you're talkin about and you have to take one thing into account East artistic build of a car has its own characteristics and you have to experience it and then you can make your judgments but still appreciate the artistic endeavor it gives you a chance to experience other people's dreams and inspirations and artistic work but thanks for reaching out because I'm a car nut from way back my family built cars back in Europe if you ever want to know the brand names just reach out but they still build him here to not build them but sell them at the Mercedes g wagon the original model came from my family and it might give you a hint with the name might be but nevertheless thank you for reaching out I like carnitas I am a master master mechanic I enjoyed eliciting and thank you for reaching out I really like that because like I said I got a gearhead and motor oil running through my blood
Yup, I bet the guy who drove this in 1972 was not very impressed when the Bugatti Veyron came out like 39 years later......he was probably like "why is everyone so excited? I don't get it? Did everyone forget that 40 YEARS ago I went 233MPH in car that weighs 1,764lbs and had 1,100hp up to 1,600hp?" Seriously though. Everyone loves to think the Bugatti is the groundbreaking revolutionary car that smashed all the records and was ridiculously faster than every car that came before it. But in reality, this car from 40 years ago (39 years technically) could probably destroy the Bugatti Veyron in a race.
Na basic safety stuff and fule stuff. And basic width. Then let the engineers do what they want. On a track that has both paved, bricked and dirt roads. Turns of both left and right. And straight ways. Let’s see who makes the best car.
I want to see the Redbull X1 be made and a series for it. It would be have to be Formula zero or something. That is what a unrestricted car looks like. I imagine lots would die though. 300mph+ and it pulls enough g's to make you pass out with a g suit that fighter pilots wear.
Can-Am series was the best race series in history. It was the one moment when the officials got it right. All these rules to make the playing field equal it stupid. Build the best car you can and may the best car win.
Group B Rally racing was insane. Audi, Toyota, Alpha Romeo, Citroen, Lada, Mercedes, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Subaru, Mitsubishi It was F1 but on mixed roads with higher power output
That’s the type of racing that’s the most exciting, having only a couple boundaries, and leave the engineers to do their work and make the car better than their comparison in complete different ways
Safety is the big thing. No racing league will survive if they get sued into oblivion every season from wrongful death suits and stuff. Plus regulators will be all up their arse with workplace safety rules.
this is what racing should be, companies and investors just going crazy with ideas and innovations and developments to make the coolest most efficient cars, nowadays racing is boring as oatmeal to watch
If you want truly groundbreaking design look at the Chapparells from the Can-Am era. They had 'wind skirts' similar to a hovercraft with fans that sucked air out from underneath the car creating a low pressure zone that glued the car to the ground. They did that way before ground effects were considered in the late 80's
I played this car in a racing game once, it was so damn difficult to control with all that torque, I thought it wasn't real but here we are holy shit 😂
Cam-am series was such a good idea, it honestly needs to come back. Just tweak it a bit, set like a budget limit or you'll just end up with F1 and touring cars everywhere on the track. I wanna see some creative madness making the runs on the track
Can Am was wonderful. There’s nothing else like it. We had a fan car that raced for a considerable period of time, the proper birth of McLaren as a racing organisation and this fucking thing.
it's amazing to realize how primitive the tires this thing was spinning were back then and how the more advanced tires of today would allow this thing much quicker acceleration
It shows what we conceptually understood as engineers back in the 1970s, the airframe is antiquated compared to modern LMPs, so 1600 hp would be absolutely terrifying in that!
I ride bikes like I'm TRYING to beat the reaper home but I reckon even I'd yell out " FUUUUKIN HELL" the instant I stamped on that go pedal in that thing 😮😂 I WANT one 😂😂😂😂
