I’m pretty sure that season 2 was originally meant to begin airing on Subaru’s birthday and end on Emilia’s birthday

Man, if whitefox does season 3 the justice it deserves, it will be a POWER season. Like, get all the shounen bro’s in with arcs 5’s bombastic energy, and then appease lovers of the psychological thriller angle with arc 6, all while building the lore and characters up tremendously. Could be a damn all-timer! I can’t wait!

Budget increase!!! Yeah the animated scene between Elsa and reinhard was deadly, the first person segment of it lives rent free in my head! First person perspect done in anime like that is rarely done! I'm most excited for kurgan vs garf! And the emotional talk between Wilhelm and Subaru!

I agree with the one who says arc 5 might not focus on hugely improved action animation. People haven't reread arc 5 enough(AND most haven't bought the light novels), for me the takeaway is really not as big on emphasising fight scenes as that. The fights all had a very deep emotional undercurrent, same as arc 4 fights do, and while they'll need to do more action for sure than arc 4, I really don't think those fights should be animated as straight action. It should have a lot of flashbacks to show their emotional arcs, I don't need to spoiler because think of Wilhelm's fight in arc 3. Doing some similar levels of that for Garfiel, instead of just battles, is what I actually want.

Man glad to hear you guys again… feels like ages… well I was a year younger at least so I suppose it has been? …regardless I dig how you’re trying the vtuber kinda stuff for the characters… might make some stuff work better later in readings… I still gotta say my biggest issue was the idea of adapting whole arcs, especially with the length and depth and how some of the heavier internal character development and experiences inform decisions made in the coming scenes… That will be complicated in Arc 6… Can already imagine people protesting around a certain someone’s treatment of his wives… that can be messy if people really binge a lot of arc 5 without expecting certain things… but there’s a lot removed and added in lightnovel versions and so on in past few years of I remember right… not just the stuff that wasn’t in end of last season… but that Can be future flashback stuff but depends how certain fox related things are handled too… but that’s just thinking one character off the toppa… so… Wish it was arc 5 plus what ifs etc as a model for adapting arcs OR maybe just the third cour handles the sandy bit, if some get what I mean… speaking carefully of course… Cheers guys! Now I’m wondering if big K didn’t delete the fanbase discussions vids etc to prevent spoilers… man if I were their PR guy that would be my story for the losses! : D

Honestly, I love that episode in season 2 where the Witch of Envy gets up close and personal but the stereo effect could have been so much better. I've found that when you need to get a stereo effect like that it is best to use a pair of ribbon microphones set up in a Mid-Side configuration for getting the stereo field _as tight as possible_ in order to make it sound the best. Using a setup like the Dummy Head just won't get you there. The stereo field needs to be tighter than a Dummy Head can get, especially for people that are listening using headphones. And as expensive as those Dummy Heads are it is kind of pointless to spend that much when a couple of lollipop ribbons that cost a fraction of the price can do a better job. Big misconception that the "Dummy Head gives best stereo imaging", I disagree. For the price of one of those Dummy Heads it better ~~~~ ~~~~ too because it will sit in a closet most of the time otherwise and having a couple of ribbon mics on hand is much more useful than a one trick pony Dummy Head that isn't really that great. Just had to rant on that stupid Dummy Head. ;P

On complaints about the cut Rem scene I also disagree that it doesn't make sense to cut at all. Subaru kind of confesses but not really properly (like with Emilia) and leaving it in would make people see his confessions on the same level. But Wilhelm technically told Theresia he loves her too, the tragedy was in him never saying it completely honestly until her death, and Subaru's been paralleling Wilhelm in his relationship(revenge) with Rem beginning with the white whale fight. The idea he blatantly loves her despite originally being focused on Emilia and never makes that clear until she's (temporarily we hope) gone makes it far clearer than showing him begging her not to die in episode 21 of season 1, I hope they make the reason why Subaru's so attached to Wilhelm's revenge clear this season. It doesn't get enough attention and gave early arc 5 chapters a gigantic amount of emotional weight to me.

I really wanna see them animate Subaru vs an entire crowd of mind controlled people.

Right now studio White Fox is busy in adaption of Sengoku Youko (the manga is by Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer's author, which I heard is quite popular). It is going to air for 37 episodes . It has had action for pretty much every episode (4 episodes aired) and White Fox has done a great job on them but not on the level of demon slayer or jjk, well expecting it this early on is also not great so we'll wait and see. From the teaser's artstyle it seemed that White Fox will return for season 3 of Re Zero, so until Sengoku Youko is completed they may not adapt Re Zero. Which is a good thing cause Sengoku Youko is an action focused series and if they deliver GOD tier animation sequences for its peak moments we should expect a good season of action focused arc 5. And even if they don't they would have a chance to not repeat the same mistakes with Re Zero (which is highly unlikely as they're already creating a pretty great adaptation of the ongoing series). So, I'm trusting White Fox with the adaptation for season 3. Even if the somehow the animation is not on the level of jjk or kny I'll love it either way because because it is FREAKING RE ZERO. Having animation on jjk level would be cherry on top of the cake because the story's already delicious. Getting someone like Yutapon or Vincent Chansard (he did the airplane sequence of jjk and great moments of one piece gear 5 action) would also be great. I've completed most of arc five through your recordings (thanks) and now I'm reading arc 6 so until I complete it I can't say anything about arc 6. All of this is just my speculation of course, we'll know more about the anime at Anime Japan.

Yay more podcast Ok my Rem take is that she is completely irrelevant after season 2. Emilia, Ram, Betty, Otto and Garf all overshadow Rem as characters by a long shot. To me she's nothing more than a mascot at this point (sorry kyles.) I feel like I'm so emotionally attached to everyone else but her... in short Rem is boring. Also since you were talking about reactors - I've seen more than I could admit - I have to shout-out Psyculturists. Ed analyzes the psychological aspects in re:zero and often predicts future events like the wizard he is. (Let me also mention @AutoSaveFamily and @PinkCubed they're really awesome)

Hey so in addition to season 2 being split cour it did actually get delayed as well because of Covid. With aot it wasn’t so much that the mappa staff had to understand or get passionate but because kodansha and the production comitee had a abysmal time frame for the production in mind and no other studio would or could’ve realistically have taken it on. The time frame for season 3 was also really bad which is the reason why wit refused to produce another season under those conditions I also don’t get the distrust for white fox in the community they’re currently airing sengoku youko which is also 3 cours and it looks great so far a lot of people said re zero is delayed because of that including a RU-vidr who likes to use re zero for clickbait but that’s a completely different team of animators and even for season 1 they had another anime air the season before re zero so it’s not like they’re incapable of pumping out quality anime. I think it was a combination of losing staff over the years, nexus who did 10 whole episodes missing and losing staff to create bind already made it a much more challenging task to create season to now add the over length episodes and covid hitting as much as someone who’s into art notices the decrease in dynamics and inconsistent character designs it’s a miracle we got what we got in the end while wite fox was in the state they’re in. They have a small training studio for animators in the country side and they been constantly hiring and the new director already directed episode 2 of season 1 and also has a movie coming out with clover works also based on the light novel Considering how much time white fox is given this time I don’t think there needs to be any worry it seems like season 2 was a learning experience for everyone involved including kadokawa. You just simply can’t rush quality animation and adaptations Someone from white fox confirmed they’re working on season 3 of re zero btw I’d send the link but I think my comment might disappear

As for Roswaal's words in end of season 2, was the translation that bad? The light novel and webnovel of course have him act in a very threatening way, but Emilia also reassures Subaru after figuring he said something intimidating that Roswaal is putting in a front and basically licking his wounds. Spoilers arcs 7-8: I think it's for the best if people have the same impression as her words, because Roswaal in the third sanctuary trial is basically foreshadowed as fully reforming his attitude, and so his current actions where he's basically back to pushing Subaru in the direction of arc 4 pre witch's tea party are going to take people by surprise if they animate arc 8. Roswaal's character is supposed to put on a more threatening facade but he's also the same guy who had Ram by his side the whole time while explicitly wanting her to kill him in the end, as he feels guilty. So it's complicated to fully make him threatening.
