Thanos: "I am inevitable." Tony Stark: " I am Ironman. I mean, uh. I am Dr. Doom. No wait. I'm Spiderman. No, no, I'm Batman. NOOOO! I know who I am. I'm the dude playin' the dude, disguised as another dude!"
Mauler the kind of guy to be a protagonist of a jrpg just to join the evil side halfway through the game just to be defeated near the end but it is then revealed he was right and trying to help and you regret killing him and he forgives you and kisses your cheek and dies.
@ViolentMessiah666 he looks suspiciously at the guy playing the Thing. Ah, he's fine too, he will be orange! Barely any voice lines though, promise! No signs of white guys here, no sir!
@ViolentMessiah666 we already had that in our latest movie, Captain African American 4 where Harrison Ford was going to be assassinated! -turns to the guy beside him- can we double up on allegories on you-know-who? We can't? Dammit. Better fund more reshoots! Hey everybody! Captain Black Falcon America Man 4 will be delayed another 6 months!
Had Pascal not been one of the industry’s most ardent “I support the current thing” advocates, he’d have been Me2’d by the online sIacktivists in a _heartbeat._
Her first impulse was to slap Pedro's hand away. And she never looked comfortable with him. It's Hollywood, baby! I think the lesson Disney may learn from DP&W is that an R-rated, balls-to-the-walls version of Blade is a viable money-making option for them.
Mauler is correct about Deadpool & Wolverine. It’s like reading a comic with a shit story & kickass art. My expectations were very low going in so I wasn’t really disappointed.
Kinda reminds me of what people say about FF7 Rebirth, fun combat and it looks beautiful but shit for story and everything else. A lot of people are ok with that but yeah I agree with you, it’s shit without the gravity of some overarching meaning. Like some cool and shiny thing is happening in some pointless place so what does it really matter, people that are happy with it in the moment that’s fine, Nihilism I say.
@@thatguywhodoesstuff1432 I haven't heard anyone say the story/plot/characters were good or effectively written. I've heard people say they enjoyed it & they had fun with all the cameos or the jabs at Marvel but I'd be curious to hear from someone who thought the story was well written, I found it really disappointing.
I don’t agree with Mauler on some things but I am always interested in his thoughts be they good or bad. But I do 100% agree The Prestige’ is a banger & the best Nolan movie.
RDJ is a bait and switch. Nobody wants him as Dr. Doom. Nobody wants this variant of the FF either. This is going to stink just like everything Disney makes.
Such a strange conversation to listen to where two people are enjoying recollections of the movie while one occasionally points out all the things he detested about it. But that’s what the world is about, variety of opinion and tastes.
As cool as the yellow/blue and orange/brown suits are, you kind of have to acknowledge the fact that Hugh Jackman is so bloody good being Wolverine that having him just rip people apart in nothing but jeans and a wife beater is just as memorable a look. Top marks.
I see Deadpool vs Wolverine as basically a culmination of everything that Ryan Reynolds has been setting up since Deadpool 1. Most of the payoff comes from that fact and drives the jokes and comedy, with the paper thin plot being all about seeing Ryan and Hugh go at it. All the old school cameos were just icing on the cake, with the TVA being the most obvious grafted on DIsney component.
Thought on RDJ playing Doom in a universe of multiple Earths. Tony’s dad gets forced out of U.S. because of weapons dealing. Tony’s dad moves to another country, and that is where Tony is born. In another country, and named Victor Von Doom. New name means people won’t come after his son, and he can grow up “normal”. But as an adult Tony/Victor builds the first suit for vengeance, not to escape and survive. Now you have a new Tony, now known as Victor on the side of revenge, and he hates the U.S. for what they did to his dad.
For the USA flag emoji thing, it really depends on what application you're using and what fonts have been loaded. Country flags are not a single 'symbol' such as "A". They're instead based off of the ISO 3166-1 standard for country codes. So France is FR, Spain is ES, etc. But instead of just typing those letters, there's a different set of 'characters' called regional indicator symbols. They look like smaller versions of uppercase latin alphabet letters in a bunch of fonts. Using these two letter codes for various country flags was done in order to prevent tying the text encoding standard (called Unicode) to particular flags since those can change and are somewhat political in nature. It pushes the issue of displaying them to the fonts to provide an emoji for it and an application to choose to use those fonts and display it. Other flag emojis that aren't countries use a different system that is somewhat arbitrary and not entirely codified into a standard.
It happens both ways. We all get very defensive about movies we adore being trashed by someone who disagrees. And in some cases the ‘guilty pleasure’ tag is used because you can’t like something that isn’t arthouse cinema without it being guilty. How about we love what we love and hate what we hate but respect that others might hold a differing opinion? I loved Deadpool and wolverine but that doesn’t mean I am triggered by mauler’s opinion. And I would hope that he doesn’t have an issue with others enjoying it.
Fun 10/10 - Plot 4/10 - with Crowd 10/10 - At Home 5/10 The cheering of the bootlegs will make this more re-watchable, but the same can be said about MANY of the good phase 1 to End Game Marvel & doubly so for those made by Disney Marvel. And the cameos were the best I've ever seen in any super hero movie because they had purpose & played a role in the movie other than waving at the camera & saying "hi",
Basically the cameos, meta jokes and nostalgia are what carry the movie. The plot isn’t great and the villain isn’t fully developed like a typical MCU villain
25:52 100% agree Gary. My high school played that song at my 1998 graduation, and prior to that, it was everywhere for a *solid* year straight. Green Day can go $**k a 🛍️ of d*¢*$.
I actually think they are bringing the Russo’s back because they realized how bad they screwed up post Endgame. I think they are going to basically reset the universe back to Endgame then recast the “new universe” with new actors. They gotta have the main character from the first 3 phases to do it. And we all know Chris Evans doesn’t have anything else going on.
I can see all the things Mauler is pointing at but the movie was a god damn blast to watch, its fun and has a loose enough plotline to tie all the quips and set pieces and cameos together. I didnt go in expecting same grand epic of storytelling, I went to see Deadpool and Wolverine on screen fighting each other as well as lots of henchmen and I expected to laugh a lot especially at Disneys expense, as far as I'm concerned the movie delivered
I think bringing back the Russos and having RDJ as Doom is a net positive. It is desperate and there a thousand ways it can go wrong, but it does serve as a stark contrast to Lucasfilm. Marvel, at least, is now willing to change direction and make some moves to try to please its audience again. I wouldn't fault anyone for continuing to be cynical, but I certainly prefer that they try rather than tripling down like Star Wars.
Yeah the first thing I thought when RDJ revealed himself was that it'd be an edgy alt-universe Tony Stark who was broken by what happened in Sokovia or events of Civil War, stayed in Sokovia to help its recovery, and ended up becoming the brightest mind in a separatist state which would become Latveria. Then he'd have Doctor Doom as a nickname, as the boys predicted
@@omsaxena116 Quite Right, "the one person who could play Victor Von Doom" so he could play it totally straight. To me, it hinges on if Marvel has the restraint to never show RDJ's face behind the mask, because then they'd have some explaining to do, and that's where the multiverse stuff can justify anything
That'd be kinda fun, and you could completely disregard phase 4+ in a natural way. I just think he'll have to be kept in that suit all the time, time is catching up to whatever chemicals actors are on and he's starting to get smaller and look like an elderly gentleman.
@darthdragonborn1552 Yeah on the Last Orders aftershow for Open Bar, someone brought up that Deadpool humor in 1 & 2 was mostly dick jokes and stuff, and Drinker/Mauler quickly got defensive and moved on to the next question 🙄
I had a very strange dream. AZ in drag as an EastEnders tribute act Mark Harmon as Gibbs from NCIS and myself had to stop a 21st century version of the pirate ship office blocks from Monty Python’s meaning of life from colliding with another building.
Great job Mauler being the voice of reason through all the nostalgia and hype. I enjoyed DvsW more than I thought I would but I still walked out of the theatre thinking overall it was just meh. I think in time once the hype settles on this people will also notice its flaws more.
I like these three because they have the film/witing snob (Mauler) , the lore-obsessed superfan (Gary), and the average joe (Az). Really covers all bases.
@JDracovia129 and Mauler has all bases covered when it comes to comics no matter the brand. Really all of pop culture in general, as long as it's pop culture from 1985~1992.
Az is an "average Joe"? Nah, he's a meganerd just like the rest of us, he just prefers DC to Marvel (comics). Gary prefers & knows more about the Marvel side (I heard he used to own a comic shop 😂) but Az knows his shit too
@BetaRayBill32 He's pretty consistent, but he also seems to like being the contrarian. Most of the points he makes seem firmly rooted in a common ethos, but sometimes it just feels like he's reaching. Not necessarily with DP&W, just in general.
I really enjoyed DaW myself. I do agree with most of MauLer's criticisms of it, but for me they were pretty mild issues compared to how bad everything else has been for the last several years now. I know they were key jangling me, but I actually enjoyed it this time because I felt it was done fairly well. Solid 8/10.
Gents I think that's an excellent idea about boogies gold play button. Auctioning the pieces for charity obviously is a great idea. But... Equally AZ's point about it being a physical representation of the vanity & lies that cost boogie it.
Rock coming back actually got in the way of the new stars and very nearly killed over a year of mostly good build up to this years main event, he turned it around by turning heel in the end but the first couple of weeks did not look good. Its more like up to a few years ago when HHH and Taker were dusted off for mania to get people to watch every year while Vince was still in charge and the week to week was abysmal
I sure am glad there's constant rambling about streamer drama here. Boogie is so interesting, wow! You guys have so much to add to the discussion of him being a shitty person. I hope the next Real BBC is completely about Boogie!!!
Lol, it's well known that Pedro has high anxiety stagefright, he probably needed her to ground him. God people are so strange. 🧐🧐 And Deadpool 3 is one of the best films ever. I can't remember when I had that much fun at a cinema.
*Caerphilly (pronounced: KER-FILL-LEE) Cthulhu, it's all the same to Mauler. Some say he has never breathed our Earth's oxygen, and that other's tell of his ability to see not only our natural 3 spatial dimensions and time, but also all 10 current versions of M-Theory, plus the hypothetical universal-dimensions at once. (so he's see at least one passible alternative version of SW:TLJ) all we know...he manifested his eldritch self, somewhere in Whales.*
@@william9170 Ask them if there are any movies they don't like. They will say yes, then say why they don't like it. Then just dismiss all their points as being dumb... They'll get the point
I was just on instagram and saw a clip of Pedro's little touch and everyone in the comments was talking about and showing support for his supposed anxiety. He was seeking physical touch because he was anxious. I don't know how accurate that is.
It doesn't matter who they cast in the MCU as long as it's trash, and at this point, it needs to be rebooted. They're talking about multiple Avengers movies when we don't even know who the Avengers are. They seem to think that all it takes is names to make us watch.
No idea why MauLer said the three old forgotten heroes + "girl" in the [redacted] got [redacted.] Only one had their [redacted] removed. The rest were fine. And that was a pretty badass/ nostalgic moment. They hinted at reviving the series at the end... (rough quote) DP: "Can you help the people that helped me?"| Disney: "We will see." (also the "girl" was at the party.)
I assume you all know this already, but I feel compelled to mention because at the least you're downplaying it here: Bob Iger and Kevin Feige, as far as I have heard anyway, did not want this Deadpool movie. That movie was greenlit by Chapek, and Feige tried to get rid of it through most of the pre-production well into production. And rumors are that there were a lot of production problems due to Disney meddling and disagreements with Feige. These are all rumors, but it is said that Ryan and Hugh had threatened to leave the project at least once during the production. My point: it was not an easy road to release the movie- which I think is good because that is what made the first Deadpool so good as well. But also in this case the fought so much I really think the thin plot is completely Disney's fault, and all due to the way Ryan pitched it having had Hugh on board at the very last second (he's been telling this story constantly in all the interviews that Hugh called him right before his very last pitch and they just threw this idea together). Now that doesn't excuse a movie for being poorly written, or relying more on charisma than plot to drive audience interest. But I blame all of that on Disney and Feige. They tried to ruin this movies chances, and if the rumors are true Ryan and Hugh really had to fight for even what this movie is. Which is significantly hamstrung by the merger, missing elements from the past two movies (even sidelining all of it's supporting cast so they could have big cameos as setups for jokes over and over), and a movie that has to show reverence for what it used to be before it can move on to being something else. Oh, and being pushed out early because of all the Marvel flops. Let's not forget that attempt to make this movie fail, too. They didn't 100% nail it, but I really can't give Ryan (especially) enough credit and kudos for the work he did here. He really worked hard to make it a movie for fans, if nothing else, even if it was at the expense of it barely being a movie in several ways, and it shows on screen with what we did get. That is why I like the movie. There are a ton of problems with it, and those are easy to point out. But right now... this is the movie fans wanted this to be. Now I agree, Disney will learn nothing from this, and it's not saving anything. It was never intended to as a work by it's creators. It is what it is. But I would hope it gives the right people power in the right places which could be a good thing in general for the movie industry, and for Marvel going forward. We'll see, though. For me, though, all that work makes me 100% happy to support this movie. It's a ton of fun and people should go see it. If nothing else to stick it up Kevin Feige's... never mind.
With Xmen 97 and Wolverine and Deadpool this is and will be the year in the future known as the the Xmen Year that started it all FINGERS CROSSED because both knocked it out if the park for XMEN Characters decades later
They hired Pedro Pascal probably because women seem to be obsessed with him, so they're relying on RDJ to bring back old fans and Pedro to bring in more women audience I guess. There's several women I work with that are obsessed with him and I don't even care what he's in they'll watch it.
Pedro Pascal must have photo copied Kathy's island flight list, as there is no reason why he he is suddenly being picked for all these parts based on his so so acting, even based on the success of the first 2 seasons of the Grogu show.
Honestly, how I don't see how you can say it reminds you a lot of MoM when it does so many things better than that movie. The multiverse aspects, the villains, the heros, and lack of inconsistent magic, all better.
@@brandonchandlerMGnO The treatment of the cameos. Like what MauLer was saying, there’s no real substance to them, they just show up, say stuff, fight, then die. I will say they were treated more respectfully here, but them showing up can only be cool after so many times.
@@markkwassheree Exactly, they used the cameos pretty well, sure it can always be better, but good is still good. I'm not going to see them on the next watch and go, 'I hate them now,' so it doesn't remind me of MoM.
@@miketurner2095 That was my point, no inconsistent magic making the movie so much worst. Saying the villain was lame just makes me respect your opinion less, and people dying isn't the most important thing when comparing characters, if people like _these_ guys, and not _those_ guys, maybe wonder why that is, probably because one came off as better.
Gosh I love @MauLerYT Completely agree with the Deadpool being crap take. Didn't hate the movie, lightyears ahead of The Marvels etc. Solid 5 out of 10.... But In the 2 hours I did not even chuckle. Found myself wondering why the movie was made. I don't see any time in the future where I'll even consider a second viewing. Ive seen DP1 at least 30 times.
I absolutely loved the the Fox Marvel movies. I know they have their flaws, but I had fun with the majority of them, and hearing MauLer say that Deadpool 3 doesn’t respect the Fox Marvel movies at all is all the information I need to know I made the right decision not seeing this film. I don’t want to see the classic actors that I enjoyed in multiple films ruined at the end. Thank you, MauLer.
