@@PrivateCitizen84 Super disagree. Season 7 was the same level of garbage lazy spectacle. People (including myself) gave it a pass because they thought the final season with TWO fucking years of development would be a return to glory. Hell even season 6 had significant problems and season 5 began the decline.
@@MundaneThingsBackwards OK for arguments sake you are 100 % correct. That is still the decline in one show over a short period of time. Star Wars was on the slow decline since RoTJ till current day.
@@MundaneThingsBackwards the revisionism that any thing is as close to as bad as season 8 is hilarious. weird sheep. season 8 eviscerates the rest for O O C and rush job ! every one, 99 percent, adored season five and adored season six............ the pretending since is funny ! i did see folk say season 7 had issues for sure, even then 90 percent hella in love. season 8 is just so so so so so so much worse. events over 4 seasons happening in 6 eps ahahahahah be real!
@@thetruthofit398 It's not revisionism. Every single issue that showed up in season 8 were seen to some extent in the earlier seasons, season 7 in particular. As I said, even I AT THE TIME noted the dramatic drop in quality in season 7 as a massive fan of the show but hoped beyond hope that season 8 would tighten things up. The character assasinations, botched plotlines, absolutely garbage tier dialogue, serious lore breaks even by the show's own standard, time and distance being meaningless in the universe, critical characters being forgotten and ignored before suddenly becoming the most important in westeros in the final season (Bran). The list goes on and on. Season 8 was set up for failure by the earlier seasons. It's asinine to pretend that the show just dropped off a cliff quality-wise in just one season for no reason.
*At this point I dont care whether a 80s movie is liked, universally considered iconic or ranked top tier or mid - the point is remaking anything from that decade on principle is a crime!* Leave the 80s alone!
PS the "let them eat cake" was because there was a shortage of flour available and the bakers to maximize profits would make cake as they could charge more for it than the bread. The poorer people were complaining so she said "why don't they just eat the cake then?" which was out of touch to what the people could actually afford.
1:45:57 _"I'll ruin your_ *[Time Bandits]* _mythos in a minute, baby."_ {sigh} Yet another Girlboss™ load of tripe, missing the point of Time Bandits entirely. Peter Dinklage sure has put a lot of dwarfism actors out of work, hasn't he? If Terry Gilliam did walk out of this production, the man deserves a round of drinks on the house for not kowtowing.
Hey guys. Here's a super useful tip when dealing with shorts. When it's playing, look at the URL. Replace shorts with v and it will reload in a regular, youtube player.
Remember when adding MauLer was supposed to be about getting him to experience and appreciate the stories of the comics that were the foundation for many of the popular characters we see today? Pepperidge Farm remembers
I think there are now a number of layers of the onion that need to be pulled back before we get to that core, not the least of which is “Top 5 Dr. Who Episodes”. 😆
I think it's kind of a shame that AZ has ruined MauLer's "wot?" reaction. It used to be MauLer's thing, but then AZ started spamming it, and so now MauLer doesn't say it anymore.
I really like the music of Florence and the Machine (especially Celebrations) but I hate that every slightly mystical or witchcraft related thing has to have Seven Devils as it's Trailer song....
I have a friend, who was a stuntman in Gladiator 2. The big siege battles with the ships are actually in a desert. The water is added via cgi. He said if you fall from the ship you die, there is nothing to soften the fall.
Setting up a Cinematic Universe: Step One - Don't try Step two - make one GOOD movie. Step three - make a handful of additional standalone movies. With hints of a bigger universe and how these movies connect to each other. Step four - after 2-3 years of this, one movie that brings them all together. And if THIS works, start phase two, with sequels to those standalones (now with crossovers allowed), and a second wave of standalones.
Movies normally take 2 to 3 years to make, longer these days because they have to refill them 3 or 4 times and sack a few writers and directors along the way. Just step on make good movie Step two profit
AZ "I haven't seen it because i had my heart broke." What he means is he doesn't want to review stuff like his channel is known for now. Also if people didnt watch someone or something that broke people's hearts, AZ wouldn't have a channel anymore.
After Rome moved its capital to Constantinople in 330 AD, the empire survived until 1453, making the Eastern Roman Empire the longest continuous empire in history.
On Gladiator II Wait since when did Romans use hand crossbows? Yeah they had light artillery crossbows, but, I don't remember seeing any infantry crossbows in the Roman archeological record. And I've read quite a bit about Rome.
There is some speculation that some Romans really used crossbows, not belly-bows like the ones used by Greeks. First, because something similar to one appears in a Gallo-Roman 4th century bas-relief and other sculptures. Second, multiple military texts(Epitoma Rei Militaris) describing projectile weapons seem to allude to multiple mechanical hand-held weapons of a variety of sizes, though it is unknown if they operate like a ballista (torsion) or bow (flexing). That being said, it's impossible to estimate how widespread this technology was. Perhaps, just like steam engines, Romans never fully made use of it beyond trinkets and curiosities.
Some channels do shorts really well. I really love Eoin reardon’s stuff (old school woodworking by a lovable Irish), McNally (entry specialist) and of course the great clips from Thor over at pirate software.
@@ConspiracyCinema sold boy. I m just now getting into the other craftsmen that show up when he goes to fairs/events or whatever. The metalworker one is quite interesting. (As hell) ((being American, I do feel that is obligatory))
That "What If Wolverine became Lord of the vampires?"comic was absolutely excellent! I love the way the Marvel lore was used to have Punisher become the ultimate hunter by Dr Strange sort of possessing him from the afterlife. All of the XMen being turned into vampires was amazing too because of the way they used their mutant and vampire powers. I highly recommend.
Joseph Sakora (Tommy from Power) should have played Guy Gardener. Keep Taika Waititi away from Flash Gordon also Michael Carter wasn’t only Bib Fortuna he was Gerald Bringgsley in An American Werewolf in London too
There is MYStery and then there is MISStery. MISStery is when the MYStery's conclusion completely misses the audience. In headlamp's defence, I think she may have been ambushed with the interview then and there with no time to prepare and they just edited out the part before the questions started.
I'm becoming more and more certain that AZ has Tourette's. I have a friend whose six year old has Tourette's. The similarities in their behavior are uncanny.
41:16 - [Personal timestamp] I bought my first batch of comics, found at a flea market in my town in the middle of nowhere. I got a random assortment of just over 40 comics for $1 a piece, most from the 90's, with a couple of Conan the Barbarian from the 1970's and two Batman comics from the 1990's. There was one Green Arrow, and I've yet to see who wrote it. High likelihood that it's not who he mentioned, but wanted to check later.
Let's see Season 1 The Rings of Power and She-Hulk and now Season 2 Rings of Power and Agatha All Along. It's official women ruined everything and 2024 Thanks
@cosmictreason2242 I never even thought to look at the profile can I report as Porn? I happened to look for Real BBC 2 minutes after it was live and 2 comments already that I have seen on many other threads. I assumed it is Haters trying to stir up trouble by the " level of thoughts so high in this thread" and similar in a sarcastic tone. It reeks of commie talk, I have dealt with plenty of people like that.
@@dmac3183 Nah, they are bots with generic statements. Yes, it can be reported as prawn but RU-vid does nothing about them. If you really want them gone, you need to go to the bot's channel and report it from there, at least that is how it used to work.
I love how YT's report feature has like 20 list items which violate section 230 protections, and then like 2 which don't but google just ignores and literally never enforces. Amazing.
Time Bandits is a perfect work of imaginitive genius. It is just not possible to overstate what a travesty this pathetic Apple remake is. But I at least give Apple credit for keeping the kid white and male.
I have asked this many times, but how many actual examples are there of shows and movies that are kept alive by people mocking them? Instead of actually liking them. E.g. Sony tried bringing Morbius back in theaters because of memes, did not go very well. Rings of Power did not seem to get much viewers either.
It is truly insane that the DCEU's big problem was trying to speedrun an Avengers movie and instead of learning from this, Gunn is basically going even harder by having what is essentially an Avengers level movie as the very first one of his DCU. It's a bold strategy cotton...
Az Hi. Not sure if you read this? I need some advice? In the UK which bags and boards shall I get, and from where, to protect my comics I’m buying? Recently got back into comics based on your and Gary’s recommendations. Just need help with the protecting of them?
'Smart phones eat backside"!! I miss the standard simple, forever battery, text & call phones. And if you wanted more you'd get a laptop or pc. 'Smart phones' are one of the banes of society Also, Win10 sucks chestnuts, also ffs Cancel Disney Plus ;)
Would be fine if the batteries were easier to replace. In the early days of smart phones, android phones would let you just pop off the back without any kind of tool and replace the battery. Have always wondered how the world would look like today if it was only desktops that advanced in its technology, so tired of the phone culture, both in a social sense and gaming wise. Also yes. Windows 10 is a steaming pile of shit and so is Windows 11. Windows 8.1 all the way. Fast and lightweight. If we only knew how good we had it.
@@TheBloopers30 I miss Win XP service pack 3. XP was so simple to navigate, utilitarian, customisable. Imo of course. And it ran so much faster; once it booted up lol.
@@Han_Shot_1st It was fun to optimize XP start ups. I got my last XP machine down to 16 seconds on a fresh install. That of course didn't last, but it was fun to do lol. Nowadays I said goodbye to Microsoft forever and am running Linux Mint at home. I don't miss a thing. The newer Microsoft OSs are just diabolical.
@@Han_Shot_1st Windows 2000, Xp, Windows 7 and even Vista are all good. But Windows 8 I would say is the first "modern" windows(for today's standards). While it added some pretty anti-consumer things, it also introduced some very helpful features. It had to run on tablets and phones which means that it's optimized like crazy and is most likely the fastest Windows we have. If Windows 8 launched with the features of Windows 8.1 I'm sure that the future would've looked a lot different than what we got. Also wish they kept that glossy "Frutiger Aero" look. Early developer builds of Windows 8 looks like a "next gen" version of Windows 7 with an underwater/ocean sub-theme(with the Logon background). Very cool.
Obviously, Disney must measure show success in other areas than profit. Otherwise KK have been fired after TLJ and Feige after the Eternals. It cannot be just DEI hires since every single company can do that (and lose money). Do Disney really think SoMe impressions are worth more than profit? Or is it deemed okay to lose (a lot) on shows and Disney+ if more than 5% of the audience are from the Tiktok generation? Or is just Disney being too removed from reality and think the world is like their LA bubble? Or is it consultants similar to SBI that lie to Disney and tell them market data support their direction? Or is it the Alphabet Mafia saying a loss is okay if they can influence/groom the kids? Or is it short term interest rate gains from ESG loans that Disney management forget that they have to pay back? Or all of the above?
The hype wasn't the strongest when The Incredible Hulk released or when Iron Man first came out, but when people realized they were good they spawned the franchise. I'm not super excited for the Gunn-verse but if the first couple movies are good then I'll start getting excited for the more.
Guys I succumbed, and started watching, am up to S1 EP8 now, and what I hate is I keep googling when will these annoying POSs will die. It's a great show but the characters really deserve to meet the maker. Thankfully it's not anti-hopeful like I thought it would be (gleefully killing good characters), mainly because it doesn't have ANY good characters, maybe Viserys
