I put nutritional yeast in my avocado and fruit smoothie, I don’t even notice it, along with intermittent fasting, exercise and being consistent has got me, at 59, in the best shape I’ve been in 20 years, thanksgiving for all your advice Dr. Berg
Been taking yeast within the past few weeks. . Wow. My mind is calm and I can actually get my house clean. It feels amazing to feel calm again. It's been a very long time. Thank you
Thank you so much for mentioning MTHFR polymorphisms! I have some (not the B vitmain one) and it makes taking supplements really tricky so I try to find natural sources when at all possible. If you are neurodivergent (ASD/ADHD, etc) these mutations occur at a higher rate. Definitely get tested if so! Sone also affect Vit D absorption and catecholamine absorption as well. It's great to know this before taking meds or supplements.
@@kissenklauer7011 A doctor can order a genetic test but sometimes it's a hard sell due to insurance or doctors not being knowledgeable about it. I had to actually do a mail-order DNA service, get the raw data (which is not as complete as an actual gene test), and run it through an internet 3rd party engine. When the mutations were flagged, that was what convinced the doctor to actually run the "official" test which confirmed the results. I was having scary med side effects and it turned out they were clearing so slowly from my body that I was being overdosed accidentally on most meds. If you suspect it or are really sensitive to meds/supplements/foods, it's definitely worth it.
@Kissenklauer I did 23&me a while back, with the added "medical info" analytics option (so not just ancestry) and upon seeing a functional medicine doctor, she asked me about my MTHFR and COMT gene expressions. From there I found multiple websites which offered free/cheap automated analysis against the 23&me data for reporting on these particular genetic SNPs, along with links to the research they were able to gather related to the different gene expressions in different populations and the apparent effect(s). Well worth all that investigation. FWIW, I'm very "aspy" (OCD and ADD and whatnot) and also have issues with MTHFR, and outside of folate supplementation, I try to eat regular servings of cruciferous veggies and cod liver.
I used fortified nutritional yeast for a short while (without knowing it) and I felt really bad. When I finally found an unfortified version here in Sweden it was such a big difference. I’ve always gotten ill from synthetic vitamins (and I think alot of others get ill too, but not realizing it) so I prefer to use the “all natural” when it comes to vitamins. Because today it’s really difficult to get proper nutrition from food with all additives and preservatives and what not. So I’m glad that I stumbled upon your videos about NY a while ago and decided to try it. B1 is tough to get in such large amounts from regular food.
@@aminabiixi Hey ! I use a brand called Bjäst Original - They come in chewable pills. I don’t know if they are available in other countries, but you can see if a brand is unfortified because they usually have lower milligrams of most vitamins , but still a high content of b1 🙏🏼
Had the same experience. Was really surprised by the difference between those two. Because here in the USA fortified yeast is on EVERY shelf in EVERY grocery store, while you can only get unfortified yeast through online delivery. Sad to see uninformed people buying the more expensive fortified version thinking it's healthy....
If I had found your channel 10 years ago, I probably would not have inflammed prostate, acid reflux or gerd(I dont even know the name), 5 teeth loss due to having sweet tooth, and finally incorrect spine all at the age of 20.
If you eat a lot of peppers (especially jalapeño, serrano & habanero) & have prostate issues, stop consuming them. My dad had prostate issues & we found out it was due to him eating too many chile peppers. Crazy but once he stopped, his prostate issues all went away.
@@DonDSelectah Oh yes the Brewers Yeast has a distinctive smell! Start with very tiny amounts and sneak it into their dinner :) !!! They can be SO finicky!!!
I started keto and I still was so exhausted. Exhaustion has been the throne in my side. I finally got some nutritional yeast and sprinkle on my eggs. My exhaustion is nearly gone. I was so tired like down to my cells. I am saying if you suffer from tiredness and still after keto and IF, get this now.
@@SleeplessinOC I started Dr. Berg capsules and it’s a whole new level since I started. Don’t know more branchs not fortified and this point os very important. Good luck!
Dr. Berg, you were speaking about sugar beets being GMO in this country. That's true, however while you were talking about sugar beets, red beets were displayed on the screen. People that didn't grow up in a farming community that had a lot of sugar beets may be confused.
Thank you, Dr. Berg for this wealth of information you give us for free. I'm learning so much about my body/health. Your efforts and time are much appreciated.
Sharing Dr Bergs notes: What’s the difference between brewer’s yeast and nutritional yeast? That’s what we’re going to cover today. Yeast isn’t a bad thing-it’s a crucial part of your microbiome. But, if you kill off your friendly bacteria, you can get an overgrowth of yeast, which can be harmful. The benefits of friendly yeast in the gut: • It helps defend against pathogens • It helps make glutathione (a powerful antioxidant) • It helps regulate cholesterol • It helps build immunity against certain pathogens • It may help increase breast milk production • It supports healthy blood sugar levels Both brewer’s yeast and nutritional yeast are inactive, so you won’t develop a yeast infection from consuming either one. Let’s look at nutritional yeast vs. brewer’s yeast. First off, brewer’s yeast or baker’s yeast is typically grown on beet sugar, which is GMO. Nutritional yeast is typically grown on molasses, which has a lot of nutrition. Nutritional yeast is a product people take to enhance their nutrients. Brewer’s yeast or baker’s yeast may have more protein, but nutritional yeast has more B vitamins. There are a lot of amazing health benefits of nutritional yeast, and the fact that it's rich in natural B vitamins is the main reason many people choose it. Be sure to avoid nutritional yeast that is fortified with synthetic B vitamins. This can lead to negative reactions in some people. Always get unfortified nutritional yeast Thank you Dr Berg! 🐱👍🏿
I just looked at the nutritional yeasts that I have in my cabinet. It seems the Anthonys organic is natural while the bobs has synthetic B12 and folic acid. The Anthony’s brand says it’s naturally occurring nonsynthetic. The bobs brand does not say that, which tells me it’s synthetic- would you agree? I think I’ll stick with Anthony’s organic from now on thank you Dr. Berg for pointing that out.
Thank you for highlighting the fact that this fortification of yeast can cause problems w/ people who have an MTHFR mutation. It is real! THANK YOU DR. BERG!!❤
@@brianedwardsu7404 in US, my genetic test was covered by insurance because of significant health risk (I have a very severe mutation that caused life saving medications to not properly metabolize) If you notice medications aren't doing anything, your doctor can order testing. Mine had to argue with insurance that it was necessary and I got a list of drug efficacy based on what I can actually metabolize (a lot of drugs don't do anything to me, like lidocaine and related anesthetics, which made surgery very dangerous) my doctor never told me to avoid supplements, though. I just take a methylated form of B12 and folate
@@teyaroseI have that gene mutation as well. I didn’t realize it was such a big thing. I do have terrible racing thoughts at night and require something to sleep.
About ten years ago I switched from using granulated sugar crystals in my coffee and switched to half molasses, half raw, unfiltered honey. I used to add about two teaspoons of sugar to each 8 ounce cup and I typically have three cups every day. I forget the exact numbers, but honey is about 45% sugar and molasses is about 55%. So basically when I add a teaspoon of each I'm getting roughly half the sugar compared to plain sugar crystals. Plus I get all the extra benefit of iron, potassium, calcium, all kinds of bioactive stuff in the honey and my coffee tastes so much better now. Plus, I switched from whole milk to heavy whipping cream. I don't need as much and it lasts twice as long.
Thank you dr berg I was diagnosed with HIV a few years ago and really hit the drugs and drink hard lost a ton of weight and lost myself! I’m now clean and been using your videos to better my health this nutritional yeast is just one of many things I use in my everyday diet thanks to you! Dr.Berg, I'm a canadian living in Germany and visited most European cities. I realized that Europeans don't really have nut allergies like us in America. My kids like other kids take nuts to school all the time. And never herd of kids having this allergie. Is there any explanation why it's so popular in America
I was using nutritional yeast regularly before and during my first pregnancy and never had morning sickness. By my next two pregnancies, I had fallen out of the habit of taking nutritional yeast, and I suffered progressively worse morning sickness. I've always assumed it was the great nutritional benefits of nutri yeast that prevented or ameliorated the morning sickness.
I love Dr. Berg. He has done so much to help lower my cholesterol and get back great blood test results. However, I wish his videos on Nutritional Yeast came with a warning not to take it if you have colitis or IBS. I am having really bad digestive issues after taking nutritional yeast. I went to the GI doc yesterday and he said I was having an IBS flare. It may be good for some, but not for everyone.
I bought some Dr. Berg’s adrenal support formula which contains nutritional yeast, and although I haven’t seen a lot of improvement in my stress levels yet (admittedly, I am going through a very stressful time in my life) I have noticed that my digestion seems MUCH more smooth - I’ve been battling severe constipation ever since I’ve tried cutting carbs, experiencing all this stress with my job, etc. to the point that I had to get a water irrigation just to get one particularly bad buildup of stool out. Since introducing nutritional yeast, it’s never been a problem.
I was just sprinkling Bragg Nutritional yeast on my eggs. Bern using it for about a year now. I saw it on one of your other videos. Now, is the one I'm using fortified? It lists Ingredients as dried yeast and the B bitamins. Thank you. I appreciate you.
For those who workout: This is the best preworkout you can take (if you eat carbs) even a pinch dissolved in a little water gives you a noticable boost (if you don't have enough B vitamins)
*Dr. Berg, I contacted your team about this by phone and got **_NO ANSWER._* Can one take nutritional yeast with a histamine intolerance. Also, can your tablets that are supposed to be chewed be allowed to dissolve in water to make a nutritional yeast drink instead of chewing? (They stick to your teeth like candy and don't taste good.) Thank you very much for your effort 🙏Just found out about this channel yesterday and already picked up on quite a few useful info. A topic I especially found interesting is the B vitamin. My fiancee and I have been taking B vitamin complex supplements for quite some time and also a D vitamin and Zink as well. I'm curious about incorporating this nutritional yeast as well. Can all those side effects mentioned here happen from B complex supplements as well or this goes only for fortified yeast? Also if we incorporate nutritional yeast in our diet, should we avoid B complex or is it still okay to use it? We would also like to include a lemon balm tee with all of that. Is it all safe to combine? Thank you for reading this :) God bless.
@@larryc1616 I can see why you think that🤣 If you spread it like peanut butter and take a bite, you’ll never eat it again. The trick is to spread a generous layer of butter on your toast, and a super thin smear of marmite over the top. Delicious! It’s also good for adding to soups and savory dishes like stews.

I could open up a keto restaurant but I hate working with people in that way... oh yeah, yeast goes very well with cold sliced dried meats. makes my kobasice/sausages and slanina/bacon taste like its with some "cheese"...
I love your products Dr. Berg. Looking at the Nutritional yeast I see 8oz bag on Amazon thats $30. will only last me 14 days as per servings. So I would have to pay $60+ a month to get my B vitamins. Any ideas? Im poor!! My health matters so give it to me straight. Can I get by with one bag a month or will this leave me deficient? What is the amount I need of your product for a month?
Dr BERGS NUTRITIONAL YEAST IS OUTSTANDING!!!😍. I never use cheese anymore on my salads because it tastes very similar to cheese. I also use it over my organic popcorn and many other foods I add cheese too. I will continue to buy Dr Bergs nutritional yeast! I am already on my fourth purchase!😅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@@blizzardwarning5198 idk if this helps but the Nutritional Facts on the Nutritional Yeast Flakes says serving size: 2 tablespoons approx. 16 g. I use Bragg nutritional yeast a lot along with other supplements and get b-12 injections. I’m dealing with being just recently diagnosed with long Covid, getting better each day but would like to know if you approve of this brand?

Does anyone know if there is information on how to make your own Nutritional Yeast? Not the substitutes. It's not easy to come by the right product in my area. But I've got organic black strap molasses. I just need to know the process.
@@experimenthealthyketo83 I have come across a couple of them, too. But, none that show how to prepare it in your home kitchen. They are all demonstrations at industrial or commercial level. Still looking. Beginning to feel a bit wary of it. 😅
@@experimenthealthyketo83 Sounds great. But I've been considering it for a long time, since I always have unsulphured black strap molasses in my kitchen. Was looking for information on the 'How to', again, just the other day. There's nothing new. I think the process would require one to have a room with a certain kind of an environment. I don't understand why manufacturers should be so finicky about just giving us the right deal and for a reasonable price. Dr. Berg's products are not the easiest for me to get my hands on, here in the UK. So I have to find other means.
Appreciate your nutritional yeast product Dr Berg! I can definitely tell the difference between fortified and non fortified. I am one of those people that loves the taste and sometimes find myself using 1 to 2 cups of nutritional yeast in one meal. Is this unhealthy for the body? Should I be more careful to use only one serving per meal or even one serving per day? How much nutritional yeast do you consume a day?
Mom had a massive ICH left side. Lives with a lot of stress etc. I believe nutritional yeast will help her. She is 97. What brand of yeast and how much should she consume on a daily basis? Thank you!
Been following you for 3 months now. Acid reflux gone, 30 lbs gone, gallbladder pain gone. Energy up. Brain power up. Ty DR. Berg! Love the gallbladder formula and this product! Also the Electrolytes
May Allah give you a long life and good health. After listening to you I have lost trust in the whole commercialized medical industry. And have started believing the power that Allah has blessed to our bodies and the blessings available in food and nature.
So does that mean “Red Mill Nutritional Yeas” that I just bought with “Folic Acid” written on the label 😢 is unhealthy and I shouldn’t consume this and buy other non-fortified nutritional yeast brands instead ? ?????
Is Bragg nutritional yeast fortified? It doesn’t say on the label so I’m not sure. Also would be good to have a video on ways to eat it or what foods to eat it with.
Alan Carr wrote a fantastic book called "The Easy Way to Quit Smoking". The only thing missing from that book is the relevant nutrition needed while quitting and after quitting.
You just have to be strong, determined and be serious about quitting, if you say “im gonna try”, you’ll find and use any reason to have a ciggy, stressful day, fight with the mrs etc, I went cold turkey about ten years ago but still smoked when i had a drink, but gradually the smell and taste just got filthier and filthier until i disnt even want one when i had a drink. Its difficult but you just have to do it and ride it out, understanding it will be difficult and a rough ride but only for the first few days the rest of the experience is more about being conscious and watching your thoughts, i found it easier by forming an anti cigarette mentality, almost convinced myself i hated it

Do you recommend me taking nutritional yeast on this fast? If so, what brand and how much should I take a day?
For someone who is very new to the whole concept of nutritional yeast (aside from seeing vegans add it to their meals in cooking videos for years), can you provide us with content on ways that nutritional yeast can be used? For example- does it have to be cooked? What dishes does it go best with for full positive effect on the body and micro biome? Thank you so much for everything Doctor Eric!!

Oddly if I eat nutritional yeast even 1 TBS unfortified I can't sleep all night. It gives me terrible insomnia. I recently had genetic testing done by my naturopath and I just looked up the results and I do not have a variant from either parent in the MTHFR Gene. I hope I'm understanding that right because I'm not a scientist or a doctor. I thought maybe I'd found the problem of why I can't take any sort of food or supplement with added B. It's very frustrating because I love nutritional yeast and the energy in the daytime is great but forget about sleeping. I always used to think I had insomnia in my whole life but it turns out the b in my multivitamin even back to childhood kept me awake. If I take 5,000 units of D3 I'm fine but if I take two of them, no sleep. Love your videos, I've learned so much.
It sounds like a classic example of serious deficiencies of both active vitamin-D and magnesium. This is a common problem where symptoms develop with high dosages of vitamin_D3. Pure D3 is inactive and should not directly cause any adverse reactions. However, when seriously deficient in vitamin-D, the body will go to extremes to convert it into its active form and that requires magnesium. Your already low magnesium will drop like lead and insomnia is but one of the many side effects of low magnesium. Magnesium and vitamin-D are two of the four foundational supplements that belong on most everyone daily list. Supplement with several quality forms of magnesium, but not oxide.
@@tammiehammett5054 FYI, Tom Levy presents the four foundational supplements, which are vitamins C, D, K and the mineral , magnesium. When these levels are tested for in a corpse, it is found that the higher their concentration, the longer that person is likely to have lived. They all increase the expected life span. Additionally, it is now known that restricted eating that increases life span, was due to magnesium entering the cells. Dr. Mark Sircus, on the web, is a good source to learn more about magnesium. Most disease befalls only on those that lack the knowledge and/or determination to be healthy.
Wow!!! Fascinating video! My son has the mthfr mutation. We’ve been to countless doctors who have prescribed b12 and folate , but never nutritional yeast (which I have in my cabinet). Hey Dr. Berg, I was wondering if B1 is so important when it comes to nutritional yeast how come there is so little B1 in your nutritional yeast products? Do you recommend another natural supplement that contains more B1?

I use nutritional yeast (non-fortified by Sari Foods & purchased online) in my daily smoothie, as well as a food-based B complex vitamin each day, including B12. An FYI: I noticed in the video that three different yeasts were mentioned: Brewer's, Nutritional and Baker's. Just a note that Baker's yeast is used to make bread and I doubt that anyone wants to use it as a supplement. It seems to be just a case of mistakenly saying Baker's instead of Brewer's.
