I received a broken Real Ghostbusters Fright Features Janine in a recent trade so it seemed the right thing to do to crack the body open and see if she could be fixed. I'm always interested to see how the mechanisms in these old toys work. This one is simple, but fascinating.
And I did manage to get her working again, and even mended her broken glasses as well.

Maybe a drop of oil lubricant on that hair hinge so it drops back down on its own each time. Excellent work!

A fantastic fix! I've really enjoyed seeing your repairs on these figures, because I don't think that I had the fright versions of the Real Ghostbusters action figure toys.

I enjoy all your videos and you show simple fixes to toys that have been loved a lot. I have been inspired to both fix and customize figures from watching you. Thanks for all your videos.

Hey Dave Great fix again. I knew you would get her pieces lined up to reassemble... as you did teach me how to get those little G.I. Joe's back together😉 Take care and keep safe.

Unless you've opened that Janine before, I would say someone has already had a go. The pegs at the back of the head cavity are snapped off. No sign of them when you took it apart.

Just have one arm piece have that whole length of rod come out of it and leave the other free, so for eg move the left arm up and you get fright feature but move left arm and nothing happens but it can still at least move separately

I've had bits and Bobs for this line and the screaming heroes line and never wanted to collect the figures until seeing these videos I've had a change of heart and started going after figs and parts to add to my kenner ghostbusters collection . Thanks ToyPolloi!

Great repair - but I still think that these figures are far scarier than any ghost. The'Ventriloquist Doll' jaw always reminds me of the always damaged and scary Ventriloquist Dolls or automata featured on 'The Simpsons', that, however well intentioned, always leave screaming chilfren in their wake.

I can confirm that my Fright Features Janine broke because I tried to move the arms separately. Many toys that have action features at least allow you to move the joints separately. Connecting both arms like this is asking for it to break.
@toypolloi
@toypolloi 3 года назад
Yeah, seemed a strange design idea to link them like that. I can see why kids would end up breaking them.

in cartoons, when characters were scared, they often lifted BOTH arms at the same time, so it was fitting to design her mechanism like that. so.... when you lifted one arm, and the other followed, you just couldn't figure out they were connected together? it was too difficult to figure it out?
@Robert-nu4vc
@Robert-nu4vc 7 месяцев назад
@@raynekravenif you look at the back of the package for this figure it tells you to lift up one arm. So I'm sure a lot of kids lifted one arm and broke it.

@@Robert-nu4vc still I maintain my point: you force it, you break it
@Robert-nu4vc

@raynekraven I agree with what you said, just saying that when the figure came out the package shows to move one arm, which probably lead to a lot of them being broken. It was a bad design by Kenner no doubt about it.

I bought my kids one of these at a local toy show and they broke it. Now I can make the repair and tell them not to try and move the arms independently.

I didn't have any Ghostbusters toys as I was a little too old, but these do seem like they would be easy to break. Are the arms a harder plastic like the body or more of a softer plastic like the Star Wars figures?
@toypolloi
@toypolloi 3 года назад
They are like star wars figures, so a bit softer. You'd need to really twist them to break them.
