To those still complaining about the giant obnoxious watermark, I didn’t put it there. The site that I found the video on - ScreenOcean - did. Nothing I can do to remove it, so please save yourself the bother of typing out yet another complaint and just give the video a good ol’ dislike if you’re that unable to ignore it 👍🏻
Personally, I believe it is only an arrogant individual who can call a confident person arrogant. The princess has a right to privacy and self determination. I admire and applaud her insisting on doing things her way. (🇺🇲)
I don't know if it was the intent of the documentary but, the highlighting of the press as whiny shallow shits, made Anne even more relatable as a real human woman trying to live her life.
@Ricca Shaps..Have you seen the Netflix series "The Crown"? I enjoyed it very much. I cant remember the actress who played Princess Anne, but she was delightful. She portrayed her as a fun-loving female Prince Phillip.
Surely they would have reveled in chasing her around in the manner their 'preferred Princess' Diana was. No slight meant to Diana, but the vipers of the press had a hand in her death. I viewed most of the talking heads here as wallowing pigs.
Princess Anne has always been devoted to her charities and patronages. Her work and work ethics speak for themselves. Her visits and events are public, her home, marriage and children are private. I see nothing wrong with that. An extraordinary woman and my favorite Royal.
Whats the point of royalty if they're just like us? In exchange for the privileged life they live, all they need do is act the part. Is that so much to ask? If they want to be ordinary, maybe we really should make them ordinary. Just a thought. If someone offered me to be a royal with a protocol script, shoot, I'd be acting all day! Hell yes.
@@ravenclaw783 I think there has to be a balance in the personal styles of the members of the Monarchy. Their purpose isn't to be on a pedestal as much as it it to provide national unity in highly politically divisive times. I think when the time comes, William will fulfill his role with dignity, but at the same time won't be as remote.
I am what I am....Peter Tosh...applies to Ann. Look it up and listen well. We're not here to please anyone but ourselves. Nothing to prove to anyone but ourselves!
Funny she’s exactly what I imagine what a princess is like … mannerism wise. What’s all the privilege and meticulous upbringing good for if the children are raised flakey willows? No, no, this one can slay a dragon!
The documentary fails to mention Mark Philips was a team gold medalist in the three day event of 1968 olympics. This clearly explains "what she saw in him."
Anne, is her father's daughter, she carries his side of his family, his mother, that his suborn grandfather of hers on her papa's side. Look at Philip, you see Anne.
Well, since Philip has gone into retirement, it seems his discipline has been missed in the Palace. Charles is a bit of a nitwit. Andrew is, well let's not go there. Edward has always been peripheral. Hopefully Anne can fill the void.
Princess Ann always had a Royal look to her. She is very brave and am so glad she is still around to tell the story...bless her and her children are also loved...the Queen had many sons but only one daughter and this Princess is so loved for who she is...peace and light and thank you for sharing her story....laduchesse
For someone didn’t want further education she is extremely intelligent. She did a really good job on her latest interview with her son in law and friends.
I like Princess Anne & also her daughter, very down to earth & to the point. She has no time for small talk or stupid questions. She's a tough lady who can take care of herself.
She's 1000 times the person any of her scabby, amoral, sex freak brothers are. She's also very funny and very honest. She won't put up with crap from anyone, and she doesn't act like some kind of idiotic toff. Her family and children adore her, her grandchildren adore her, she's utterly charming in a wry and deadpan kind of way. She's so real, in so many ways. I love how calm she is, always.
Now i agree Princess Anne is cool but let's not pretend she had never had affairs and lovers during her younger days and first marriage. Seems like cheating is a common theme in royal circle especially at that time. Her personal matters weren't overly exposed because she wasn't the heir. But if one do some digging it's not hard to find out.
One of the most amazing princesses in British history and one of the most admired women of both the 20th and 21st centuries-not to mention just a gorgeous and beautiful lady.
My husband was 8 years old when Princess Anne visited Canada, she would have been around 20 yrs of age, he was in a crowd watching her walk through and she gave him a kiss on the cheek. He said she mentioned how cute he was, and that she was both friendly and just a lovely person!
@@laduchesse9402 No as he tells the story, she noticed him in the crowd, mentioned how cute he was, leaned over and gave him a kiss. I always thought it was a lovely story, but now having watched several documentaries on the Princess, as well as reading on her, I find it interesting considering how stuffy they make her out to be. Perhaps she was less so in her younger years, or he was just to adorable, we've been married 34+ years, some days he is more adorable than others! 😉
I love it when the two 'journalists' (trashmongers) were surprised that none of Tims neighbours called the press about Anne spending week ends with him ! YES not everyone is like you lot.
Uhhh, Anne's "bedtime business" is ANNE'S BUSINESS! OMG people! That's invasive! That's very personal! Poor lady could barely get her "f*ck on" bc the press was stalking her s€x life?! Yeah, that's messed up.
Please never make such a statement again, it is cowardly. The Press, whether it is paper, TV, radio or or social media only survives by we the public buying what they sell. The Sun newspaper found this out when reporting on the Hillsborough disaster. They printed the most appalling lies, that during a fire at a football ground that killed 97 people including children, fans had picked the pockets of victims, urinated on and beaten up police trying to save victims. There was widespread outrage and as a result of people deciding enough was enough the newspaper is said to have lost £15 milion per day for months and months. The press only has the power given it by the people who pay for it. I personally have never bought a copy of the Sun since that incident and I never will. Another example is Diana being pursued to her death by the paparazzi. Why do you think so many photographers chased her? Because the people were voracious in wanting photos of her, and in being so made it enormously profitable to chase her to get that illusive photograph. We the public give whatever power the press have by paying them and in many instances believing some of the garbage they print...... The Press would be nothing without us.....!!!!
I've often wondered why the Press seem to rarely mention her!! This video makes it clear that they prefer to keep out of her way because they're running scared of what they might get in return for their nonsense!! She's great, & like her father, doesn't suffer fools gladly!! She is her own person, behaves in her own way & doesn't give a damn about criticism or negative reporting! Whatever she does, she does well, on her own terms! She is a truer example of a free, strong & independent woman, than a thousand "3rd. Wave Feminists" could ever be!! You'd never see her on TV whining about her lot, or victimisation, or male patriarchy, or marital problems!l When Anne has problems, she doesn't air them for public sympathy - she faces them & kicks them where it hurts!! Go, Girl!!
I brought up the rivalry of Anne and Diana with a friend who is a complete republican and to my surprise she replied, “Actually, I remember seeing pictures of Princess Anne in magazines growing up in the 70s and she was actually a very beautiful young woman. Just because she didn’t hang out with Elton John and smile for the cameras, she was dumped. Imagine how embarrassed she must be now with the behaviour of her brothers and the rest of them”. Her words but says a lot for Princess Anne coming from a complete non-monarchist.
Shows you how 'honest' media people are. They were only waiting for her to break her arm riding her horse or do something stupid to report on her, cause the men themselves didn't like her. She didn't act like an ordinary woman during that time. She was a princess and it was a man's world.
I met her in 2002 when she visited our engineering NGO DTW in Cambodia. She was fantastic, down to earth. She had done her homework and was well clued up on what we were doing.
Looking at this old video I think to myself if they knew how she would be in 2019 they wouldn't be so silly. She is totally awesome. I just love her💖💖💖
The thing that stands out in this documentary is the nastiness jealousy and dislike of the press who were interviewed. No wonder she loathes them. They only evidenced the view she is an object to be used for their own career accolades, never seen as a person with feelings and insecurities like everyone else. Detestable men.
Claire Thompson I couldn’t have put it better myself. They’re all so horrid. And on the whole, the documentary is extremely one-sided. They mention the possibility of her ‘affair’ with Peter Cross, but they fail to mention that Mark Phillips was no angel. He cheated on Anne several times throughout the marriage, most notably with a woman in New Zealand in 1985 that resulted in her having his child, that he’s never acknowledged. Charming fella.
Poor thing she has suffered so much being “bullied” by the terrible journalists. 😂 if you want to live with the privileges that she does, never working one day in her life, never studied and thought it was better to be showed around, she must accept some critical opinions. She is a snob and she is entitled.
@@laduchesse9402 what's worse is the mentality of photographers wishing for her to fall from her horse and concentrating on a fall. Ths is truly brutal mindset--it's not even funny. But when you look at their bylines, many of them were tabloid "journalists" like the Sun, so they are only bottom-feeder and gossip-mongers out to injure. No really good sportswriter or photographer wants to see a rider fall-- it could be serious injury to rider or horse and then the horse euthanized and it's automatic disqualification. What kind of people are they? blood-suckers.
I think that Anne was and is the ideal of many many girls and women. She's incredibly tough, honest and no nonsense and probably inspired many many women into sports and military careers. her self discipline is amazing.
Anne has a thankless job and the UK media are relentless and nasty. I thought this program was excellent until the Christmas incident at the end. That was petty, thoughtless and downright cruel to an older person who deserved only respect and gratitude.
I hadn't seen this Docu and already loved Anne! She's firm in her beliefs, takes no bullshit from no one and get her job done without any fuss and expects nothing on return. Shoutout to her.
I doubt very seriously she was the least bit impressed with the Washington Monument being a royal and being surrounded her whole life by all the incredibly beautiful and ancient European architecture. Not to mention all the royal family’s beautiful country estates. Princess Anne would hardly be impressed by Washington.
Lolly Williams, actually I think the American reporters would have liked it very much if she had seemed impressed as American society is highly narcissistic and feels that being American is exceptional. BTW, I’m an American of English, Welsh & Scottish ancestry.
I know!!!! The Washington Monument is BY FAR the ugliest of ALL our American ubiquitous historic sites!!!! Seriously, it is a giant lumpy arrow like pyramid obstacle made of cinderblock that gets in the way of an otherwise lovely landscape view .... wtf must have Washington been thinking when he saw THAT as his tribute from us??!?!! Lol. Thanks? 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
mercedes precht-matuschek agreed , I’m horrified by their behavior, Meghan “ no one really asks if I’m ok “ she’s turned it into a circus of being the Beyoncé of philanthropy, the royal family are not supposed to act like entitled spoiled Kardashian’s , it’s insane how the public buys that because Meghan’s constantly smiling disingenuously & preaching inspirational quotes & pontificating with all the current trendy words , it’s thought that anything’s being more accomplished by her than someone like Princess Anne who’s not acting showy & flamboyant about it.
@Ari Onassis-Sugen, it would be much better than what we have now! I wish William and Catherine would ascend the throne. They are the only hope the Monarchy has left!
@Ari Onassis-Sugen yup, mommy is a tough cookie. And she learned her duty/tradition drive from her dad, and the spontaneity spark and the real world awareness from her hubby
Once when a photographer called out to her, 'this way love' she turned away from him and said, 'I am not your love. I am Your Royal Highness.'. Love it.
There are and always will be two sides to a story. Princess Anne grew up in a family where she was always in competition with her brothers, she had to be tough. I recall when Princess Diana passed away suddenly she rushed to her brother side, and was beside him as he informed his sons of the passing of there mother. Princess Anne has to be tough, from this day forward she always cared for the well being of other children from poor less fortunate countries. She may not show it, but she does.
The press seem to think that Anne should thank them for the good publicity they gave her in the 80s. They seem to have forgotten the work shown by Blue Peter in the 70s. If they had continued to follow her and the work she had done, rather than the Disney Princess Diana, they would not have been surprised by what she does. That Whittiker guy always got up my nose. He sits there with his nose in the air claiming that Anne owes them. Well 15 seconds is more than enough time of her in front of a waterfall. They had weeks to take pictures. Also, how would they know what Anne thinks of her sister-in-laws? Her friends are very discreet. The people who kept her relationship with Mark and then Tim private, are not going to ring the press and say anything. The press claims that Diana was a modern princess, but she wasn't. She played up to them as they wanted. The fairy tale princess princess who did little more than wear pretty clothes. She did not go on tours of Africa that took weeks. She did not stay in tents. She did not sit on the ground with kids. She did not physically help with work being done. All she did was grab kids and pose for the camera. Look at the kids who of their own accord went up to Princess Anne. There was a boy in Africa who took her hand and that of a Save The Children employee who was showing Anne around the village. It was his choice. She didn't grab him for the camera. Or girls hugging her in South East Asia. But then, even this film did not show these clips.
It was a battle of wills, Anne and the press. Neither giving an inch. She wasn't what you'd call a happy disposition, and the British press were relentless. It was a love-hate relationship. They both loved to hate each other. The adage, _"It's not what you do. It's how you do it"_ seemed hopelessly lost.
Not hopelessly. She does it far better and we all know it. She said “Not bloody likely.” to her would be hostage-taker and that was exactly what she said (and continues to say) to the press without even having to speak a word. Love her.
@MrAeronuk1 I think a few of them were batting for the other team and wouldn't have much interest in women at all other then where they got their dresses.
@@rhondaboone5210 That's a rather simplistic thing to say. Anne's main criticism as we see here appallingly,is that she is so rude and offhand with even the ardent monarchists. I personally find the kidnapping anecdote rather endearing. It's a contrast to Diana's emotionalism and superficiality. The problem with modern woman is they are aggressive and behave like men. The art of a being in a woman is to be a peach. Soft on the outside but hard on the inside. Feminism is not like this.
edmund184 And you’re a so-called ‘modern man’ are you? Telling us all how to be a woman? I would think the ‘art’ of being a man is not telling women how they should behave.
@@laduchesse9402 Well if you thought about the way you're behaving you would apologise for how YOU have acted over the last fifty years. You just expect change, you think you are entitled to trash thousands of years of evolution. Then you are hypocritical in your desire for equality.
Most of the time, Ann has more balls than her brothers. These press men, are just being jerks because they know that Princess Ann is more women than could ever get and more man that they will ever be. I adore her...
What a horrible lot of sanctimonious people those 'journalists' are from the tabloid press. And congratulations to Princess Anne for treating them with the contempt they deserve.
I'm sure they don't enjoy this anymore than her. But unlike her they have bills that have to be paid. Years ago the stars got along with the press by just parroting answers they both knew they were expected to say. No problem just say what is expected and move on. Edwards's wife Sofie said just talk a minute and then move on. She is never heard of here in America because she presents no challenge. Everybody just moves on. Smart woman Sofie.
She is and looks exactly like her grandmother the princess Alice of Greece and Denmark. Determined and strong willed. Which is why prince Philip loves her the most.
I take back anything bad iv ever said about the princess this documentary has changed my veiws on her that first interview I was amazed at how stunning she is and how much she is like her mother! Getting stuck in
Princess Anne and I are the exact same age. I've followed her life from afar. (I am an American). At one time I thought she was rather huffy, distant and unapproachable, because the press portrayed her that way. After very extensive study of Britain and the royal family over the years, I've grown to appreciate her sense of duty and her commitment to her position, as a member of the Royal Family. Despite her divorce, which was unfortunate, she remains the best and most capable RF member to succeed the Queen. Of course that is not possible, but she is the best qualified (in my opinion at least). I don't understand the underlying hostility of the press (at least in this video) towards her. She is hard working and should be appreciated.
I have to add.I've lost my interest in the Royal Family. No one (aside from Princess Anne perhaps and the Queen) is acting very "royal". The 2nd and 3rd generations are a royal mess! No better than Hollywood celebrities.
I find it hilarious as well as ballsy that she steadfastly refused to get out of the car whilst men were being shot around her. Must have driven the kidnappers crazy. "Shan't. Naff orf!"
Others could have died. Ridiculous, get out of the f'n car. Shows her entitlement. Spoiled brat, whining about the press and her poor self. Give me a break.
@@yokie52 the gunman already shot everyone in between him and her; had she gotten out of the car, there’s a high probability she would’ve been killed by the end of it. As far as the photographers, she was born into that family, she didn’t have a choice in every area of her life being published and criticized she doesn’t owe anything to the people who are waiting and preying on every mistake she might make...
I have HUGE empathy for this woman. I was born the same year as Charles and my sister the same year as Anne. It's hard to imagine that she has had to put up with this crap all these years. I hope Charlotte will not have to live the same kind of life.
BOO HISS to the Royal Photographer who said all the photographers went click, click, click and we were all giggling our heads off … she says this when the Princess fell off and under her horse in a muddy pond. The Princess could have been killed or badly injured, but all the photographers wanted was a shot of her falling. Nasty people!!!!
The most fascinating and the most interesting member of the royal family. When she was a young woman, the press couldn't wait to have a go at her, because she failed to meet the ideal of a pretty princess, and later she was far too secure in her own persona and far too strong-minded to meet the standards expected of a sophisticated royal woman. Curiously, she has been a most exciting and rather beautiful young woman and a delightfully fascinating older woman. I have long appreciated her as a human being of many fine qualities. I also wish she were in line, she would, in that event, be a magnificent monarch following a magnificent monarch. Albeit at a great distance, both women have made my life richer and happier.
Princess Anne never was a puppet, she used her mind, said and did as she pleased; her mother on the otherhand IS indeed just a puppet from the very beginning. She has more sass and class than her siblings and she is her fathers' daughter. I like Prince Phillip far more than the queen!!
chakur25 the show is based on real events but i think the drama is not that real accurate, you know,to make the show interesting to the viewers. that's why after i watched it,i searched online what really happened.
She just 1 of my favourite people not just a Princess. I think the love from her parents, and the fact that she doesn't take fools gladly. A long with her own mind, and I think she is much like her father, who I think she has inherited a lot of his and it has served her well. Apart from not putting up with any nonsense, she has a wonderful sense of humour. I wish her health, happiness and most of all may she live a long happy life.🎼♥️🇦🇺
Love from her parents? You're joking aren't you? the queen was famously stand-offish with their kids. They also bundled her off to boarding school, which is well known to be one of the most psychologically damaging things you can do to a child.
@@th8257 what do you expect her mother was queen when she turned 2??? She has so many roles and places to go, if you were the queen how would you do though? Your judging them from something you have no experience of?? - I also heard that she wanted to go to boarding school, but that was from another type documentary (she said she liked it though?!)
I know her slightly and she is a lovely lady. No time for fuss or sycophants, just like her father. A lot of the time she does her own cooking and carries her own bags.
@chakur25 She's wickedly clever, but from my point of view her posh way of speaking with a clenched jaw is off putting, but maybe that's part of what makes her quips funnier.
Totally agree with her, overall university is a highly overrated pass time. Life experience, on the job experiences working from the age of 12 for me gave me more success than education, going to school or university. I've always like Princess Anne, if Megan thinks she's had it tough, Anne had it tougher than her. I admired the way she has stood her ground.
There's A LOT of young women in this 🌎 that WISHES they had a female role model like Princess Anne. Then again, it'd be impossible for Anne to "take in" ALL of 🇬🇧 & 🇺🇸 alleged #metoo young women...
I am torn though is the Press right to call her a cow or raunchy, No that is just appalling but if you see the way she behaves sometime she is cruel just for the sake of it and that is unnecessary. In the end like it is said for better or for worst she remains who she is and doesn't put a fake facade because that is dishonest in that way it is her saving grace because she is unapologetically arrogant and smug, not a very nice or kind person but does she need to be No not everyone does. In that way she is the best you get what you see, Honesty in ones character is a true virtue.
The hatred of these men for her is gob-smacking and Based on nothing but her "daring" to outsmart them and refusal to let them dictate her life. "I don't know anyone who would marry someone like her." Well, nobody asked you to provide a match, love. And for good reasons.
i have slays admired Princess Anne. She and I are the same age. She is very brave, completes her good works without publicity or complaints and does not suffer fools. She is one of the most dedicated Royals.
She lived her life exactly as generations of royal males have ; no apologies for living by different rules that they feel entitlled. Phillip was always softened by the queen but hes also a generation nearer to Q Victoria than his cousin, Elizabeth, so its understandible that hed be a bitmore autocratic. Anne seems to have awicked sense of humor.
I don't think Philip is an autocrat as much is he is a disciplinarian. His claim to authority was always dubious. Greece was always in revolution and his parents were totally derelict. The Queen Mother didn't approve of him at all. He is of lower nobility, and while she was an arch traditionalist, he was a modernizer, at least for the times. What he wanted more was a career as a Naval Officer, hence discipline, but apparently what he wanted most was Elizabeth.
24:03 she’s described as a raunchy lady! Wtf? Who is this awful man with a creepy beard describing a woman this way? I don’t care who she is. What a creep.
Thehillsarealive Withthesoundofmusic. The reporter was Harry Arnold, from The Sun, which is an utter rag. He died at age 74 of liver cancer, which apparently is quite slow and painful, so there is that consolation.
My Mother met Princess Anne at work and she said she never saw a women with such beautiful skin and my Mother 77 never compliments her daughters ( South Yorkshire) My sister was born the same birthday as Charles , my middle name is ann
The way the one Daily Mail journalist Whitaker just blithely created her public image - and a negative one as he just "didn't like her" is telling. "Princess Sourpuss" is just another way of saying a woman isn't simpering at men in the way they expect.
SuperStella1111 true & very mean spirited , being classically beautiful is not a virtue or quality of good charaghter, it’s a gift some people get & others don’t regardless of whether you’re a good person , it’s not Princess Anne’s fault if she’s not “ beautiful “ like a movie star or model , so to call her Princess Sourpuss is quite cruel as they’re ridiculing her for something she cannot help & it is for that reason , if they try & say it’s because her personality wasn’t overly engaging, no , if she’d been stunningly gorgeous it wouldn’t matter how she behaved they’d be riveted by her. Equally I thought it was terrible when the press made fun of Chelsea Clinton calling her The Dog in the White House , she was just a child & did not choose you run for public office & put herself out there as her parents did .
The reporters just shredded her. You could hear how they all seathed because she didn't bend to their whims. They all seem like mysongenists - a couple of them even admitted that she would have done better as a bloke and that she was the character that her father wanted in a son. What's wrong with a independently minded woman, her best example is her mother. I mean what did these people expect because she grew up with her mother having all power so for her to exert power over her own life, I think is courageous and should be applauded. There are times when all the royals have been rude to the people and considering she is one of the hardest working royals from England who has time for the nastiness of reporters.
highmyope1955 princess Anne looks like her father , the queen looks like her grandmother Mary of teck , while princess Margaret Is a spitting image of her father the late King George
Naelyn Eurkopfen Margaret was stunningly beautiful, I agree the Queen is homely and Anne was very pretty in youth she just doesn’t care to be over the top with her styling. Shes a simple woman and thats her real beauty.
@@user-li1gp2jw8k what does homely mean? Lol and yes Margaret was a stunner the most beautiful in the royal family, I think the queen was prettier than Anne
Anne is just such a Bad Ass. Next to pre marital Harry she’s my favourite. If she had her way she’d be a Admiral in the Royal Navy with a little farm for her horses. You go Anne!
Anne was always made of tougher stuff than Charles, who annoyed his dad Prince Philip with his shy, diffident nature as a child. It's ironic that the only one of Prince Philip's kids who acts like he thinks a son should act, is his daughter. She's by far his favorite child.
NMIS K The main reason is that both the Queen and Philip only ever had sisters. They didn’t know how to handle a son. The father’s only experience with a boy is his experience in Gordonstoun and the Navy. Which adding together will be a terrible way to raise children. While Anne is raised with care and affection like how her parents would treat their own sisters.
She really was an absolute stunner! So, she doesn't suffer Fools lightly and she couldn't care less what the press says about her... Good on her!!! 👍👍👍
