I think it's more likely we'll get a remake in the updated RAGE2 engine than a remaster because of the spaghetti code and South Korea "body damage" rating.

I heard they are releasing remaster of rdr1 but they paused it because they wanted to release gta edition first.

Just a thought GTA6 is further behind than we think. Maybe RS is seeing that it’s not up to snuff vs GTA5 and past titles, also there company is huge and just working on one title is a little silly. By releasing a RDR1 remake this will give them more time to work on GTA6 and also revamp and add stuff to RDO ( for money making additions more than likely ) after there past boondoggle they really need to win over fans more than ever. So I’m just a tad hopeful and I mean just a tad

It’s crazy how it’s either going to be a legit remake in RDR2’s engine or just a rerelease not even remaster based on the leaks. I don’t put it aside from R* and T2 to rerelease it for $70

RDR will not be getting remastered, as that old code was awful. Remaking it from the ground up with RDR2's engine isn't out of the question, especially with all the actors that are still on board. Also, with RDO being a prequel of sorts itself, it could provide additional access to that.

Maybe someone has already said this, but why would South Korea make a new rating for the game if nothing is happening? There may be a good reason, I just don't know enough about it.

Some people thought it was because of the new age law in korea what was not the reason in the end, some one said that some games got announced 1 month after the rating, so we should get any news between july the 15th and latest end august

it will be awesome if we do get the Remake and thankfully its not gonna be made by Grove Street Games Studios Which were responsible for the GTA Defective Edition but just keep your expectations low for the time being until we get something from Rockstar or something else

I appreciate your take. But I really think the simplest explanation would be that Rockstar would be using the RDR2 game (which has the original map in it) and are releasing its with updated graphics for PS5 and XBOX with a RDR1 expansion added to that game. It would be a new purchase to help fund the remaining GTA6 development. I honestly think this is the best business case for it.

If RDR1 was truly that f**ked to begin with (8:24 to 8:39) it might make more sense for them to import whatever they have into RDR2 and both "remaster" it (at least for the graphics and/ or mechanics) and "remake" it using what they have in RDR2 for story cohesion.

Not profitable? C'mon! It would sell 15+ million copies easily. They wouldn't have to build it from the ground up either. The entire map from RDR is literally in RDR2. Also, I don't think it was cancelled, just put on hold.

half the map is in RDR2. not the entire map. and I'm one of the very few that thinks New Austin shouldn't even have been in RDR2 because it served on purpose for the campaign story. but yes, the ralemake is half made already because if all the base structure already in RDR2, plus all the newer mechanics, etc. Rockstar already has the bones basically. now they only have to stick some meat on those bones.
