This is the story of Kronovi's rise and fall as the best Rocket League player in the world. At one point, Kronovi was the most dominant Rocket League player in the world. Obviously he isn't anymore. Today we cover his story of how he rose to the top and consequently fell back down.

At his peak, Kronovi was the most dominant player in the world by far. The fact that he was able to 2v1 two other professional players and win, shows just how far above the rest of the competition he was. No one else was even close. Even the best pro players today aren't that far above the rest of the competition. They could still lose to another team on any given day. But Kronovi was so dominant that is was an anomaly any time he lost in the early months of the game. This is his story of how he suddenly rose to fame out of nowhere, and eventually slowly fell out of the main competition.

the "i am the mountain that people need to climb" quote really made me dislike him as a character. Soon after season one people climbed this so called mountain. And there were a lot of talented people, with better attitudes and were more entertaining to watch. Also i find it weird that this video is about "the best rocket league player ever" and people like GarettG, Kaydop, Scrub and Fairy peak are not even mentioned. Garett won every a title every year he attended except one where he placed 2nd place. The others i mentioned achieved much more on the highest level than Kronovi ever did. So in my honest opinion Kronovi is not even close to being the best RL player of all time. Even in season 2 there were some far greater than him

This is like any other sport. Kronovi was a pioneer who laid the groundwork for the next generation. No pitcher from the early 1900s could make it in the MLB today, and Esports have even more volatile growth than more conventional sports, so it makes sense that he couldn’t stay on top forever. However, he will always be one of the greats
@davidebic
@davidebic Год назад
To Kronovi's defence, no other esport is as unforgiving as this one. Top pro players last no more than two or three seasons in this game. It's much different compared to many other esports were there's 27-28 yo players still dominating after years of them playing.
@LasseLundster
@LasseLundster Год назад
Which is what makes Squishy the GOAT for me, nobody else has been that relevant. I think the skill ceiling always raises in every game. The absolutely best e-sports players in their genre, Faker, Viper and Flash/Jaedong etc would at their peak lose in direct comparison to the best current players, but that doesn't damper their absolute dominating rule of their time.
@davidebic
@davidebic Год назад
@@LasseLundster Then Kronovi would be the strongest Rocket League player to have ever existed. As the video said, at the start of Rocket League as an esport Kronovi could solo carry teams to victories in major competitions. No other RL player has achieved that ever since. Still, Squishy is definetly one of the most dominant RL players as he managed to win the world championship twice.
@LasseLundster
@LasseLundster Год назад
@@davidebic I agree, but including overall span of competetive career and the state of competition as factors beyond only level of reign, as Kronovi was a battle car pro at release in a young scene. I think a strong case can be made for both as overall bonjwa, and it's just my personal opinion that overall factors outweigh peak skill level gap from you to the scene, especially considering the above, weighs slightly less. But I wouldn't be surprised if Kronovi was declared the GOAT, either, and support either opinion.
@davidebic
@davidebic Год назад
@@LasseLundster well a title such as the GOAT are way too subjective. The only relevant fact is who's dominating at a certain point in time and oh boi ZEN is looking amazing rn. He's a strong candidate to joining the zenith of RL players.

Its actually crazy go see the classic Kronovi footage which at the time blew my mind and now see everyday in diamond 1-3. He was truly what got my into rocket league and I definitely learnt the game from his streams (I remember once talking to someone at work about RL and they were struggling to grasp a forward double jump and here we are watching this guy score crazy aerials 1 day after release ). I imagine he will be a face on RL esports on the panel for years to come.

EXCELLENT premise and delivery of content in this video. I would have loved to hear from Kronovi about what he believes led to that decline. Was he not practicing enough? Were there challenging life circumstances at that point in his life? Was he just simply being outplayed for no reason at all? I think a short interview with him would have been very enlightening for all of us (an interview I'm assuming you tried to obtain). After seeing this video he may be more motivated to give his side of the story and what he believes led to his fall from the top. I would love to hear from him concerning this particular topic.

@@bruellbart2380 definitely free play. Just spend time chilling in free play listening to music, watching a show in the background, but spend time in free play. This is kind of wrong, because in RLCS 1, Kronovi's team was actually considered to be an underdog. At this point Kuxir's Team Flipsid3 Tactics was considered to be the best team in the world, and Kuxir the best player. The video is really good, but it feels like it's overly portraying Kronovi as the undisputed best, when him and Kuxir were always very much equals. You can make an argument for Kronovi being the best, but not while leaving Kux out of the picture like this.

Underdog because of his teammates. Everyone agrees kro was leagues ahead and was the carry/backbone for that team doing well. Kux had stellar teammates beside him (even though, yes, he was considered the best on his team). Best two in the world for sure, but kro basically super supported eeeeeeverything his teammates did and was always in the right place at the right time. His game sense was absolutely off the charts. :)) No hate, just love for your opinion though. Have a great day my man! ^-^

Love the content. I began playing in like June or July 2015. Kronovi was definitely the undisputed king then. By July 2016, it was a battle between him, Marky, Kux, and Paaschy. You noted this well most of his rivals have long retired. A garden variety GC 1 is better than the best back then. That Mount Kronovi is relevant is pretty amazing.
@fatoeki
@fatoeki Год назад
I began around the same time. Yes Kronovi was the best back then, but for a long time I saw Kux as the best and I thought this video might be about him to be honest. Where Kronovi dit a lot in the beginning, Kux got to the top when the competition was a lot more on fire and watching him felt like watching a wizard with a lot of tricks up his sleeve and a reaction time that didn't seem possible. Still, in terms of popularity and his early rise I understand he gave Kronovi the title.

I just recently started getting back into RL and I was wondering why I haven’t heard his name mentioned in any RL content. I’ve been seeing Zen’s name everywhere and I’m wondering if he will be the next “Kronovi” in that he will be the undisputed best player in the world for a while.

It's not even bad that he got surpassed, he pretty much pioneered the advanced techniques in the game, and it's only gone up from there. That's just the way of things, everything and everyone gets to learn things earlier and improve on them, that's how everything progresses and evolves.

Great video. I started in the PS4 beta in 2015. As a lot of people can probably relate to, I loved Rocket League almost immediately when I started, but it's so funny to go back and look at 2015 replays that I thought were good. Kro was the first dude I saw that made me grind the game and realize that it was a special esport. The mountain will always be the shit to me. A great video to check out on youtube is Summit1G reacting to a video of kronovi when he first started and just being in disbelief at what this dude was doing. We were flipping around on the ground and whiffing while Kro was fast aerialing and hitting double taps and upside down flicks and shit. He's still a beast, too. This game evolves quicker than almost any other esport Ive seen, so Jstn and Retals and wondamike and even prodigies like Aqua make it look easy these days, but Kro made it look impossible from day 1.
