10:00 I mean Luke by coincidence bought a droid with a message from his long lost twin sister who had just been captured by his evil father that he doesn't know is his father, and the message is for a jedi master who was also the master of Luke's father. Oh and and the droids also used to belong to his father and mother, in fact one of them was also built by his father. Star Wars is just full of coincidences bro
@skwills1629
@skwills1629 4 года назад
Actually a lot of that is Less Coincidental than You Realise. Obi Wan Literally took Luke to Tatooine in the First Place and was Stationed there to Guard him. (Which is also why the Complaint that Luke only Knew him for a day ot Two is false, he Clearly Knew him all his Life.) Lea would be expected to have her Mothers R2 Droid, as R2 went with Lea to the Organa Household. Along with 3PO. It'd make sense for Lea to try to contact Obi Wan given the History between her Adopted Father and Obi Wan, it'd make sense for Luke ot be there as Kenobi lived close by anyway, and it'd be Logical for the Droids to be there, without much Coincidence. And given Princess Lea was a Political Figure of High Rank, knowing Vader, who is also a High Ranking Political Figure, makes sense as well.
@ButrzV2
@ButrzV2 4 года назад
@@skwills1629 a significant portion of that isnt revealed until way after the fact tho, making its origins still incredibly convenient. The force itself is a deus ex machina woven right into the storytelling for the universe. Characters get astronomically lucky as a result.

@skwills1629 4 года назад
@@ButrzV2 - If we're going by how much Later Thigns are revealed, Lea is not revealed to be Luke's Sister and Vader is not revealed ot be his Father so its way less coincidental even than what I said. Its a famr bioy who lives near a Jedi Master who got his Voicemail and delivered it to him. Not exactly amazing.
@ButrzV2
@ButrzV2 4 года назад
@@skwills1629 ehh. R2 and 3PO on their way to Ben, getting caught by Jawas just to be sold to Owen, the list of conveniences goes on. Like i said: the force itself is a deus ex machina

@@ButrzV2 The Force is not a Deus Ex Machona, in how that is def9ned. Thats when You Paint Yourself into a Corner then a god, or equivolent narratively speaking, saves the dfay. The Force is inherant to the World of Star Wars. It is wrong to call it a Deus Ex Machina as a result. As for the Rest, its only a Mild Cpoincidence. Another underrated moment people aren’t talking about is the Rey vs Dark Rey fight. “Only what you take with you”-Yoda Rey feared that deep down she was a monster so that’s what she encountered. In fact what’s even sadder is that this is how she’s ALWAYS perceived herself.

@Prof_Tickles92
@Prof_Tickles92 3 года назад
@@slaughterhome Ever wonder why Rey rejects the lightsaber and the metaphorical call to action? Because she doesn’t believe she’s worthy. She runs away because at her core Rey is someone who doesn’t like herself very much. Ever wonder why in Rise of Skywalker her dark doppelgänger says “don’t be afraid of who you are?” Remember how Yoda’s words “only what you take with you.” Those feelings didn’t come out of nowhere. Put yourself in her shoes. How can someone not resort to “what’s wrong with me” after being abandoned for fifteen years since she was four years old, and no matter how many times you beg, plead, and scream at the heavens mom and dad aren’t coming back? Rey truly thinks “they abandoned me because I must be a horrible wretch.” That’s why she believes the Jedi aren’t talking to her, and Kylo uses this to manipulate her. Her fear turns to frustration and in an act that started out trying to save Chewbacca, Rey suddenly became more concerned about proving she isn’t powerless. All that mattered was winning. As a result force lightning came out. She was selfish and because of it one of her closest friends was almost killed. One more domino tipping in a chain of events that lead Rey to exile herself on Ahch-to. Luke asks her what she’s most afraid of “myself,” Rey replies. I saw Rey’s tears at the end of Rise of Skywalker as happy tears. When she hugged her friends she was so proud of herself. All her life she’d thought there was something wrong with her, that she’s horrible, but she wasn’t. She saved everyone and didn’t give in to hate. The lonely scavenger has finally found inner peace and the belonging she’d always wanted.

I was gonna go to bed but ended up watching this whole video instead. It sums up how I feel about TROS so well. I like it, it's a fun movie that I found to be an emotionally satisfying end to the Skywalker saga, but I also have some major issues with it and it's definitely my least favorite of the Sequel Trilogy. I get why lots of people hate it, but there are so many moments that break my heart (in a good way) or leave me with a smile on my face (sometimes both at the same time) that I can't help but like it. 24:00-24:29 That entire "Ben Solo-The Fucking Man" sequence had me roaring with laughter. It was all so true! I'm one of the minority of Reylos who was satisfied with Ben's fate (yes, we do exist!) Yes, it was sad, but it was a fitting end to his character, and it was narratively, thematically and emotionally satisfying, to me at least. I love his redemption arc and love story with Rey, and I don't need him to come back, because even though he's my favorite SW character, he had a fantastic story with a satisfying end, and that's more important to me than him getting a traditionally happy ending. And it's sad for Rey, sure, but she's strong, much stronger, emotionally speaking, than Ben ever was, and she'll recover with the help of her friends. Not to mention that Ben will always be with her in spirit, as stated in the novelization. Sorry to get all Reylo there, but I just wanted to show that we're not all annoying like that! Anyway, yeah, great video. Love SW, love the ST, like TROS, warts and all.
@ClaireQuigleyQuip
@ClaireQuigleyQuip 4 года назад
I totally agree with what you say about the fate of Ben Solo here. I never considered myself a Reylo, but I adore the intertwining stories of Kylo Ren and Rey in these films. I love that TROS solidified their romantic attachment , and now we can re-watch the sequels through the lens of an almost operatic romance. And gosh Ben's death breaks me, but like you said it ticks all the right boxes - it's "narratively, thematically and emotionally satisfying". That's really all we can ask for. Generally speaking, would I have liked Ben Solo to live? Of course! But the completion of his story is so perfect, I just can't complain (especially considering the Anakin parallels). And the way he smiles at Rey at the end ... he's now let go of of all the conflict and pain that has tormented him, and he's finally at peace in the arms of the person he loves. And that choice was entirely his, to give his life so that she could live. It's tragic, but it's so dang beautiful. To paraphrase Maj0r Lee, "yes it's sad - that's why it's so good!". I can't really put it better than that.
@TimeandMonotony
@TimeandMonotony 4 года назад
@@ClaireQuigleyQuip Exactly! I didn't want him to die going into this movie, but I knew it was a distinct possibility (I had avoided the leaks), so his death didn't upset me beyond the normal "being sad when a beloved character dies," and the more I thought about it, the more I realized it was a lovely end for his character and fit perfectly with the themes of SW. And I'm so glad he got to finally experience love and happiness, and went out with a smile on his face, having done what Anakin couldn't (saving the woman he loved.) Perfect. ❤

Star Wars is intrinsically and consistently spiritual in its themes. Characters who seek redemption and eternal life do so by committing an act of compassion or self-sacrifice. That is how they “cheat death” as Sheev puts it. In The Rise of Skywalker, every Skywalker dies and are reborn. Sheev Palpatine overconfidently exclaimed that “the Sith will be reborn!” and yet they are the ones to fall while the Skywalkers “rise” in some capacity. Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa are reborn as Force ghosts and transcends life itself by being one with the Force. C-3PO is the phantom Skywalker that is “born” to Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace then “dies” and “reborn” in The Rise of Skywalker. R2-D2 restoring C-3PO’s memory in TROS is undoing Bail Organa’s orders. Not specifically a restoration of his prequel memories, but just an inverse of those actions. Kylo Ren dies and Ben Solo is reborn. Water is commonly represented as emotional healing and the raging water surrounding the Death Star II wreckage visualized Ben’s moment of healing and redemption. This is a clear inverse of the raging lava on Mustafar that visualized Anakin’s raging anger consuming him. Ben was tempted by the light whilst Anakin and Luke was tempted by the dark. It is also a direct parallel to Anakin being redeemed on the Death Star II. According to psychoanalysts like Sigmind Freud and Carl Jung, water represents the unconscious mind where our instincts lie. Anakin Skywalker had trouble trying to mature in the Prequel Trilogy due to his Jedi teachings that Force him to abide by reason over his instinctive passion and attachment. Killing Han Solo is Ben Solo’s way of convincing himself that he’s maturing. He wants to let the past die (and he did “kill” it) so he can look towards his own dark future, but he instinctually hesitated killing Rey and regretted killing his father. Han‘s selfless sacrifice made out of love is an aspect of Ben’s memory that he neglected but is now realized after Leia and Rey showed him compassion. He became a passionate little boy again when he acknowledged Han as “dad.” Rey dies a Palpatine and Rey is reborn a Skywalker. Force healing is metaphorically representative of the Skywalker and Palpatine families healing past familial and generational sins. Sheev Palpatine “killed” Anakin Skywalker who killed Padmé Amidala (and even Bail Organa “killed” C-3PO at the same time) as a way to wipe out the the Skywalker lineage so it could never be reborn. Darth Vader and the Empire were born out of that. However, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa were the secret newborn hope for the Skywalker legacy. Luke became a legend and redeemed Anakin which led to Sheev’s death. However, because Disney decided to make a sequel trilogy, they had to give it a purpose that honors the legacy of George Lucas’s magnum opus. So Sheev tried to pull a Darth Plagueis and cheat death through cloning so he can subliminally seduce the last Skywalker, Ben Solo. Luke, in poetic Star Wars fashion, repeated the use of the failed prequel Jedi teachings and failed Ben exactly how Obi-Wan failed Anakin. Kylo Ren rose like how Darth Vader rose. Luke was hesitant to train Rey because she was a Palpatine and he instantly knew that once Rey said she’s from Jakku. However, it took that Palpatine of all people to be the one to instill hope into Luke that the legacy of the dogma and failure of the Jedi can be changed and revitalized. Both Ben and Rey come to an intimate understanding that her parents are nobodies and she had no place in the Skywalker story. Ben then later revealed to Rey that she indeed has a place and that she’s a Palpatine. Rey’s parents being nobody still has merit and a role in the story despite being retconned in The Rise of Skywalker and even Rian Johnson entertained the idea of the writers for Episode IX pulling a “from a certain point of view” for that. The Rey Palpatine reveal more so recontextualized Rey’s parents’ intention to protect her from her grandfather, but other than that it wasn’t undone in any way. It exemplified how Rey needs to come to terms with how she was truly alone and it also doesn’t change the fact that she grew up to be a scavenging nobody like her parents so she goes about her journey like so. This is something Sheev Palpatine reiterated since he was aware that she wasn’t in the right mindset to take the Sith throne. The Palpatine reveal being done in the third film even strengthened her decision to stay with the Resistance since fighting with them in that one year time span is more than enough time for her to feel comfortable considering them her family. Her lack of parents is also a neat mythological expansion and synthesis of Anakin Skywalker not having a father and Luke Skywalker not having a mother. Anyway, Ben then reveals to Rey that they are a Skywalker-Palpatine dyad in the Force which indicative of them being the last hope to put an end to their familial sins. Rey decided exile herself on Ach-To after giving Ben his last chance to redeem himself. Ben was then redeemed by his father, much like how Anakin was redeemed by his son. Luke passes on his lesson of failure to Rey and instilled hope in her being the legacy of the Skywalkers and the Jedi despite her Palpatine blood. The Saga starts with the Jedi acting on their fears which blinds them to their downfall and the Saga ends with Luke telling Rey to confront her fear and rectify those mistakes. So Rey rejected and killed Palpatine with the Skywalker lightsabers Mace Windu style with all the past Jedi to aid her to prevent the Sith and a new Empire to be reborn. Ben revived Rey by laying his hand on her womb region to transfer his life force. he did what Anakin never could with Padmé by saving the woman he loved. This is a deliberate riff on a prince bringing a princess back to life by kissing her dead corpse in a fairy tale and Star Wars is meant to be a modern fairy tale. Rey, a Palpatine who grew up as a nobody and was inspired by the legend of Luke Skywalker, has now become the next maternal Shmi Skywalker figure who “birthed” a new legacy of Skywalker beyond blood by carrying the title. Once she declared herself as “Rey Skywalker,” the cycle of the sins of the Skywalkers and Palpatines have halted and balance is restored once more. JJ Abrams, the most compulsive of crowd-pleasers, didn’t undermine the immensely happy victory celebration in Return of The Jedi with an even happier ending for The Rise of Skywalker. Instead, he melds together the tragic quality of the prequel trilogy’s ending and the cheerful ending of the original trilogy to leave the Saga off with a bittersweet ending. Perhaps even more bitterness than sweetness. Yellow is the color of youth, creation, technology so Rey’s creation of her yellow lightsaber on Tatooine in the final Skywalker Saga movie is a direct riff of Anakin Skywalker’s creation of golden C-3PO and his yellow podracer on Tatooine in the first Skywalker Saga movie. Anakin has maintained his association with the color yellow with his use of the Naboo starfighter, the airspeeder in Attack of The Clones (which is based off the yellow sports car in George Lucas’s 1:40.08, a student film he made in his youth), and his Jedi starfighters in both The Clone Wars and Revenge of The Sith. This was a severe sign of him not being able to mature because of the Jedi’s teachings that use reason to hold back his passions. Luke Skywalker wore a yellow jacket at the end of A New Hope as he was at his youngest in the story which adds to the movie being a light, straightforward, crowd-pleasing, coming of age tale which is also the antithesis to his father’s inability to mature. In The Empire Strikes Back, he wore a dirtier tan suit, showing that youthfulness fading away once he learns his father is the most hated man in the universe. He then wears black in Return of The Jedi, showing how he’s becoming more like his father and being tempted to the dark side as he was. Rey’s creation of a yellow lightsaber at the end of her journey is indicative of a renewal of her childhood rather than a regression to it. She dies a Palpatine and retires her adulthood as she is reborn a Skywalker (via Ben Solo’s life force) and is given a new childhood. The final scene is her returning to a familiar home to honor the Skywalker legacy by burying the lightsabers and also to make peace with her own upbringing. The green lightsaber represents the balance that’s holding passion (red) and reason (blue) in tension. Qui-Gon Jinn wielded a green lightsaber which represents his underlying dislike of the teachings of the Jedi. Luke Skywalker wielded a green lightsaber as he was tempted by both the light and dark sides. The yellow lightsaber represents the transcending of both the red and the blue. The red lightsaber, representative of the Sith, is cast into the sea. The blue lightsabers, representative of the Jedi, are buried underneath the surface of land. The yellow lightsaber is a symbol that represents the Skywalker family, a family who’s love and bond is so powerful that it transcended blood and were granted the light side power to cheat the deaths of the ones they love by virtue of compassion and self-sacrifice.

In Episode 4 it can help guide missiles, make someone disappear, create sounds, mind control people, choke people, and give someone sight when they're blind. In Episode 5 it can all of a sudden bring things towards you, levitate things, make oneself a GHOST, create apparitions (Darth Vader), be able to jump super high, talk to someone a long distance away, and deflect fuckin blaster bolts with ones hand. Then in episode 6 it can allow someone to shoot lightning out of their hands and throw lightsabers like boomerangs. Not to MENTION that in the prequels the force can literally make A CHILD OUT OF NOTHING! There are no real rules and not even any implied rules here. None of the force powers in the sequel trilogy contradict anything in the previous trilogies, as they are either rare powers or lost powers (as seen in the ancient Jedi texts). If anything, the new trilogy establishes that the more force power one uses and the more powerful that force power is, you could risk dying because of it or seriously draining oneself. It ironically establishes why Jedi dont just use the force all the time and sets up consequences for using too much.

You made some excellent points in this video. I acknowledge The Rise of Skywalker's flaws and some of them even upset me. But meanwhile I can still enjoy it for the good it has and love it as the Star Wars finale that it is. I was super excited for this movie before its release, I built up on so much hype. I went in the IMAX 3D showing on opening night with a worried but open mind without looking at any reviews, blinded by the excitement of this being the final chapter in the Skywalker Saga. And when I walked out of the theater, I didn't know what to think about it. I was surprised how disappointed I was with its rushed, messy, and complex storyline and its lack of an epic finale. But maybe I just needed to refresh my mind and rewatch it to get a better understanding of it and see the good again. Star Wars is special to me and I'm really passionate about it, so when I walk into these movies I don't ignore the flaws but I focus more on what I love rather than what I hate. The Rise of Skywalker had many good concepts, and many issues. But that didn't stop me from accepting it as a satisfying and epic finale for the Star Wars Saga. It had great action, visuals, cinematography, music, character arcs, and themes. Rey and Ben's arcs specifically were handled so well. And I like the thematic idea of in the end, it's about choosing who you can be and which family's legacy has inspired heroes like Rey and Ben to save the galaxy. I didn't see Rise of Skywalker until a year or two after its release, cause I wanted to let the opinions subside a bit. After watching all 8 previous movies, I put in the last disk of the Skywalker Saga box set, and absolutely lost my shit about how good I felt it was. The scene with all the ships reporting to Exogol with the FUCKING MAIN THEME playing, shit, i'm getting goosebumps just typing this comment. I haven't watched your video yet, but still wanted to give my own little piece before I did. In my opinion, Rise of Skywalker is the exact Saga ending we deserved. Bombastic, bleek, and by far my favorite Star Wars film

On December 18-19 I got the opportunity to watch all nine films of the Skywalker Saga. From 7pm on the 18th to ending on the 19th at 7:30pm. From what I gathered to formulate my opinion, is that all three trilogies do not sync up visually, but have the heart of Star Wars' storytelling in terms of focusing on the Skywalker family. Star Wars 1-3 focuses on Anakin's fall to the dark side. 4-6 Focuses on Anakin's redemption on top of his son training to becoming a Jedi in the middle of a galactic war. 7-9 focuses on Ben Solo's redemption from falling prey to the dark side, Rey Palpatine finding her place in the Galaxy in the middle of the unfinished galactic war from the original trilogy. Most everyone, and the sequel trilogy felt jipped, because their nostalgic characters were dying left and right when it really wasn't their story. I think people wanted the characters from the original trilogy to be a larger focus, rather than a story of passing the torch to the new cast members of Star Wars. I've told people many times the reason we did not get flashback scenes as much that are were post-Return of the Jedi and pre-The Force Awakens, because of the fact the actors are old and de-ging CGI affects on them would like far worse than when they de-cgi Governor Tarkin and Princess Leia in the Star Wars spin off film: Rogue One. We did get a flashback in the Rise of Skywalker And it was pretty decent, but imagine if we had three films with that de-aging CGI mechanic and then three films of the new cast of Star Wars. That's one of the reasons the prequel trilogy going into the original trilogy and the original trilogy going into the sequel trilogy doesn't look as good visually. They still captured the heart of telling the story of the Skywalker family, however in my opinion. They all are beautiful movies visually, but it is clear how much of a contrast in technology is in the movies. Disney is making up through novels and comics and video games and spin-off TV shows of what happened post-Return of the Jedi and pre-The Force Awakens and I think that's the smartest approach in terms of telling a conclusive story for Luke, Han, Leia, Chewbacca and Lando. Otherwise telling their story post-Return of the Jedi and pre-The Force Awakens in cinematic fashion would confuse and bewilder and even disappoint many fans. From the get-go, the reason I feel people were excited for The Force Awakens was primarily the fact the original cast from the Original Trilogy was making a return and they wanted their return to be nostalgia filled and them going on an adventures together and coming out on top from the villains. Instead the sequel trilogy taught that these legacies were broken all because Palpatine little by little corrupted Ben Solo in falling prey to the dark side just as he corrupted Anakin Skywalker. It shows us life still happens even after wonderful victories and triumphs. It also teaches that if we aren't careful, history will repeat itself within family. The Skywalker has and will particularly effect the entire galaxy, because the the family is strong in The Force. Their impact in the galaxy is game changing in every sense of the form. You have Anakin Skywalker who is created by Palpatine and inadvertently the Force intervened by making him a messianic figure to defeat the Sith for a time, then you have Luke Skywalker who is to redeem the Messianic figure and then you have Ben Solo, who has to grow beyond them all and carry the legacy onward. "We are what they grow beyond. That is the true burden of all masters (and parents)." -Yoda Now many are upset with Palpatine's return. For me I feel differently, because his return was inevitable for a number of reasons. 1. Books that were published by Disney of Star Wars that were set in after Return of the Jedi foreshadowed heavily his return. He is the main villain throughout Star Wars 1-6 and it makes sense to me that he wouldn't be defeated so easily by Anakin throwing him over a figurative cliff. The mastermind who raised up an empire wouldn't die so easily. In my opinion he knew that Vader was going to be redeemed by his son and that his empire would lose to the rebellion. We learn from books published by Disney that the emperor provided the necessary contingencies foreshadowing his return after losing the Battle at Endor. 2. I was very concerned in The force awakens when Ben Solo spoke to Vader's fractured charred helmet calling out to his grandfather and showing him the darkness of the Force "again". Mainly because Anakin had restored balance by bringing down the Emperor's Empire. Then you find out in the Rise of Skywalker that Palpatine spoke to Ben Solo and showing him the dark side of the force with the voice of Darth Vader. Palpatine also created supreme leader Snoke whether that is a broken clone of Palpatine or that he biologically made a Frankenstein of a monster I don't know. But it makes sense that he would create a dark side force wielder no one ever heard of. 3. With Rey, being directly Palpatine's granddaughter, it would be a wasted opportunity if she did not confront her very grandfather at the conclusion of the Skywalker saga. Let alone a wasted opportunity, if Ben Solo did not confront the very being who seduced him to the dark side. 4. I was once told Palpatine's return in The Rise of Skywalker nullifies Darth Vader's redemption in becoming Anakin Skywalker. For me personally, redemption shouldn't be discounted by the amount of lives you take rather, the life you take for yourself in self-sacrifice for something greater. Their actions are not in vain merely because their greatest foe survived. Luke himself told Rey that there was balance of the Force for a time. Darth Sidious was no longer the emperor and the way of the Sith was destroyed. We learn from various sources that Kylo Ren and supreme leader Snoke were not Sith. We know that as well mainly because they did not have Sith eyes.They simply used what force they could for dark purposes based on the knowledge of their ability. Kylo Ren thought by killing his father he would become a true sith, when we see throughout the later movies he felt extreme guilt rather than satisfaction for killing his father. I love how by the end of the rise of Skywalker you see Finn, Rey and Poe in a group hug. My mom asked me why Finn was in the middle of the hug and not Rey. My answer was simply because Finn rescued Poe and he also met Rey. He brought them all together because he had the courage to leave behind the First Order even if it was for just running away at first. I love that the film ends with Rey visiting Luke's home on Tatooine. The very first Star Wars film that was released in theaters known now as A New Hope began on Tatooine. To me there was no other way to end the Skywalker saga in many regards and I'm truly grateful for the sequel trilogy being created. I'm looking forward to see what else Disney has in store for a galaxy far, far away. . . . I have only two complaints regardingThe Rise of Skywalker. 1. We do not see the political state the galaxy is in now that the Emperor and his military are finally defeated. I am honestly one of the fans of Star Wars who enjoys the politics expressed in Star Wars. 2. By the end of the film Rey looks out in the distance and sees the force ghosts of Luke and Leia. I would have loved if it showed the force ghosts of Anakin, Shmi, Padme, Luke, Leia and Ben personally. I know Shmi and Padme are not a Jedi, but I think personally it would give more depth to the mythology of Star Wars if Jedi could bring back their loved ones in spirit form who are not Jedi. I would be seriously surprised if anyone reads this and agrees with what I say. Either way I love all nine films of the Skywalker saga. Not equally mind you. But they definitely impacted me as a child, teenager and adult.

Pokémon master Ty The main reason I didn't like her was that her whole arc with Finn was completely pointless in terms of both story and character development, and it didn't help that it took up such a huge chunk of screentime. I liked her fine to begin with - after all, her mission was to encourage Finn to fight for something bigger than himself, which was a perfectly noble cause - but as soon as he was actually prepared to sacrifice himself to protect the Resistance on Crait, she literally sabotaged him for the sake of a kiss (after absolutely zero romantic tension had been shown on-screen). I just thought that whole segment of the film was poorly written; she herself undermined her one purpose in the storyline and deprived Finn of what would've been a great "hero moment", and since he ended up having virtually nothing to do in TRoS they might as well have killed him off on a high note earlier on.

the only thing the Sequels will be remembered for is Disney's embarrassing inability to plan a film series. I watched every single saga film for May the 4th and I can safely say I will not be watching the Sequel trilogy ever again. Yeah, the prequels are shit, and are just as guilty as being cash grabs as the Disney films, but at least their baffling incompetency is funny. Kathleen Kennedy pinching pennies out of my back pocket while two directors fight over which way the trilogy's overall story should go is a waste of my time.

That's what I think too. The films deserve it, since all 3 of them are good STAR WARS films. And STAR WARS has always had a history of retroactive changes. All the OT movies repeatedly were worked on after their initial release, and even The Phantom Menace received a digital Yoda Upgrade in 2012's 3D re-release. I think that they will smoothen out this trilogy a bit, although The Force Awakens can remain unchanged I think, there's nothing wrong with it. My idea for a TLJ Palpatine scene is the following: after Rose & Finn land on Crait, see the resistance and say: "That's all that's left?", there is a cut in the film where it jumps right to the Resistance preparing for the last stand on Crait. Inbetween those two scenes, they should insert ONE scene of Allegiant General Pryde (Richard E. Grant) contacting Palpatine via hologram (like in that cool scene in TROS) and saying: "My Lord... I have received confirmation that we have lost our flagship and several star destroyers in the Crait system. Supreme Leader Snoke has perished and his position was seized by the master of the Knights of Ren." Palpatine: "Good... Everything is proceeding as I had anticipated. Await further instructions, Allegiant General Pryde. The return of the Sith is near." Pryde: "Yes, my Lord." *Cut back to Crait*, rest of the movie plays out as we know it. Maybe they can put the deleted scene of Luke grieving Han into the first act somewhere, other than that it is fine with me.
@ktr708
@ktr708 4 года назад
And for TROS, even though I really like the film, there's a bit more to be done. -C-3PO and R2-D2 should accompany Rey to Tatooine in the end, not BB-8 (he can tag along, but it makes more sense for the others to take part in the conclusion of 9 films than BB-8) -Ben Solos Force Ghost should appear next to Luke and Leia, similar to Anakin appearing at the end of ROTJ next to Yoda & Old Ben (You show them twice, first time when Rey sees them it's just Luke & Leia, then she says "Rey Skywalker", and then she looks back and sees all 3 of them. The last shot of the film would feel a bit more conclusive if it contained R2, 3PO and Rey looking at the twin suns, not BB-8.) -Luke on Ahch-To should say "Lesson 3" before giving Rey the final Pep talk. This is because Rey didn't learn her 3rd lesson from Luke on Ahch-To in TLJ and Rian Johnson deliberately left it open to be explored in Episode IX, which was done without actually calling it "Lesson 3". The scene in TROS IS lesson 3 for me, and they shouldn't be afraid to call it that way. Lesson One: "The Force belongs to everyone, not just the Jedi, and it will always be there." Lesson Two: "Luke made the same mistakes the old Jedi did by thinking the Sith/evil would never return, and by training someone who always had the potential to fall towards the darkness. If you want to be a Jedi, LEARN from these mistakes." Lesson 3: "You are a Palpatine, but that doesn't mean you're like him. Leia saw what you really are like, that's why she trusted and trained you even when I could not. You can be whoever you want to be (in the end, a Skywalker), but can also not run from your actual past forever (that's what Luke tried to do in TLJ and in the end he came back anyway, so Rey decides to go to Exegol and actually defeat her grandfather like a boss.)". Works as the 3rd lesson. -The Knights of Ren need more screentime. The scene with Kylo fixing his mask could be extended and some of the Knights should have a line or two, something like "Mistakes can be made. But mistakes must always be corrected. We, as individuals, are flawed. Only the Dark Side is perfect. And it does not tolerate hesitation. Or doubt. Welcome back, Master Ren." (*Kylo puts on helmet and they all bow down*) Also, they should show how they actually capture Chewie (they have an impressive arsenal, they could even use an electric net gun or they could just pin him down from all sides) -The film needs ONE scene to explain what Palpatine's return means for the Prophecy of the chosen one. Was it Anakin and Palpatine's last attempt to return is insignificant next to Anakin ending the physical existence of the Sith? Or are all the Skywalkers "the chosen one", because each of them contributed to balancing the Force in their respective era of STAR WARS? I'm fine with both, but it has to be explained. Rey could simply ask Luke first and say: "In the old texts I came across a prophecy. About a chosen one to bring balance to the Force. I thought that Vader had achieved this, but then why could Palpatine return?" And Luke can either say that the prophecy could have included Anakin's entire family, not just himself, or that the prophecy remains fulfilled as long as the Sith don't return. -They should remove the Holdo Maneuver in the background of the Endor scene at the end and just make it so that we see a Star Destroyer breaking apart due to explosions on the inside and surface. I actually like Poe taking a jab at it being a "One in a million" shot and that line of dialogue cemented Holdo's sacrifice as something special for the trilogy. It's the typical trope of the underdog winning against all odds, which is STAR WARS at its core. The Easter Egg in the end was unnecessary and takes away from that a bit. -And one more thing for TLJ: They should remove the sunken T-70 X-wing on Ahch-To with the T-65B we actually saw in TROS. It was nostalgic, but also fitting to Luke's character that he would keep this beloved ship/Red 5 for so long. That should be easy CGI work. And maybe add a few unusual technical details to the TIE fighter Kylo used to get to Exegol, so that it looks like a TIE variant that actually had a hyperdrive (otherwise he could not have gotten to Exegol in time). Maybe an Antenna like the First Order ones have and some additional tubes on the outside of the wings. Keep the OT look but make it a believable plot device. - Maybe cut out the part where R2 restores 3PO's memory. It would be fitting to have him survive the film but not remember the stuff that came before, since they also deleted his memory at the end of Episode 3. Just keep it that way, with Artoo being the only one to remember literally EVERYTHING from TPM onward. But keep the line about "Babu Frik, one of my oldest friends." That was hilarious comedy right there.

Oh man, I wrote a novel there... I actually like the Sequels a lot, but improvements like these would actually make it a better trilogy than it currently is and make it tie in with the Prequels a bit better. To Special editions, I guess! (And you'll notice that all of my suggestions would actually be do-able, since they're either special effects changes (which can be done by VFX artists entirely) or rely on shooting a few small scenes in a studio with actors who are still alive and would be willing to do it (Richard E. Grant who would certainly love it, IanMcDiarmid (although this could even be done by a voice actor and some Hologram CGI if he doesn't want to), Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Joonas Suotamo (who would DEFINITELY join in on the fun, I've even met him in person two years ago and he is a decent guy) the Knights of Ren, maybe Adam Driver, but they could use a double for that, Anthony Daniels maybe. I saw how passionately the TLJ was defended on this channel, so it was great to see the good things about TROS highlighted here also (although with not quite as much passion lol). Great humor, though. I must admit, the reveal of Rey being a Palpatine was my favorite theme. It gives her character meaningful in-world conflict with the events surrounding her, and thematically brings the trilogy together. And, Finn and the defected stormtroopers also show the “democratization” of the Force. Its shows the Force can guide and affect “regular people” too without necessarily becoming Jedi. Yes, it is futile to argue that some of these actors didn’t have issues with the movies, but it is childish to say that no one should enjoy the sequel trilogy simply because a few actors didn’t have a perfect experience with it. At the end of the day, plenty of people had a great time with all three sequel films, myself included, and just because a vocal minority of fans are bitching about “diSneY faN fiCtiOn” and forcing their overly negative opinion on everyone. I have no doubt that these films will be remembered fondly, and even if you don’t, try to have respectful discourse about it instead of shoving your unwanted negativity down everyone’s throats. Thank you.

Jesse Pinkman Are you forgetting that Harrison Ford wanted Han Solo killed off as early as the Empire Strikes Back? And how much Alec Guinness wanted to be separated from Star Wars? By your logic, all three original trilogy films are terribly made and should be disliked by everyone and will never age will ever.

My favorite of the Sequels in my opinion, not perfect due to all its pacing problems, and I pretty much agree with everything said in this video. The part that emotionally broke me the most was when Leia died, I was already sad when Carrie died years ago, but seeing her die in the movie as Leia.... made me cry more then I ever have watching a Star Wars movie. Leias was the Trio death that hit me the hardest because in my opinion hers was handled the best. I loved pretty much every second of TROS, and maybe if it was a 3 hour film the pacing could’ve been less problematic. Aside from that though I love it and agree it’s an underrated film, and doesn’t deserve the hate it gets because of how much hard work went into making it.

The hair is bad. He's really blue too. When Obi showed up as a ghost in the OT he was transparent and had a white glow around him but he was still natural colors. This might be a nitpik but the blue doesn't look as good to me. It surprises me too because the team designing these movies always talk about how they can't help themselves from copying the OT verbatim.

What makes this guy's take so good is that he makes you like the movies more, not less. I loved his take on TLJ and I loved this. Instead of acting like he's smarter than every person in Hollywood...or trying to get 15 minutes of false fame by adding to the pile of over-emotional, quasi-intellectual gripes...he made the $12 I spent (multiple times) worth more to me, not less. And he makes the additional viewings on Disney+ also more enjoyable. Fandom is in trouble. RU-vid wannabe critics are trying to suck the joy out of movies. They are literally biting the hand that feeds them...much like athletes' political views are causing sports viewership to decline. If you want perfection -- solve a math equation. If you want enjoyment, watch a Star Wars movie...warts and all. Major Lee gives me hope. Without more people like him, we'll having nothing left besides a few B-list streaming services.

His take on TLJ was awful though, he barely even made arguments or gave examples in his video, he just made statements and treated them as if they were true. When he got into a live debate with MauLer his points were broken down so hard he literally said "you get to look at women" as an argument.
