I think 25 tile mod would be fair, once you’ve used a reasonable amount of the 9. That brings it inline with the newer console version. And keeps you in the intended build area for the map. 81 tiles feels like it’s too modded. But as long as the spirit of vanilla is maintained ie no mechanic altering mods such as TMPE, anarchy or move it.

I think this series proves why the mods are so essential. Limiting yourself to just 9 squares means the "game" part is over way before you're truly done playing

Once you start running out of room...or even before...you should go through a Redevelopment process. All cities go through periods of Redevelopment. I would imagine the trolley bus hub in the original area would get some attention and a big shopping centre built up around it. There would be more high rises especially around the coast. You could turn the limitations into a new challenge.

It always got me as weird when a Cim would drive the entire map to go to work or shop. SimCity use to have the Time to get to work as a requirement. Basically Sims would only travel so long to get places. I think both distance and traffic were taken into consideration.

Despite however many comments there are already on this, I figured to just chip in myself and say that yes, it'd be fine if you were to use a mod to increase the limit on tiles. Still keep everything vanilla in terms of building and how you accomplish things, but more space (that should've been there to begin with) is allowed I'd say!

Hello Biffa, a while ago I ran into a same situation where my resident demand stayed down. By searching on the Internet, I found out that this can happen when you overbuild the commercial in your city. I eventually fixed it by removing some commercial, maybe this explains why adding office, industrial ánd commercial did not help. Maybe start removing just all commercial in the temporary area, to see if this changes everything.

Personally, I’d have changed the new highway interchange to an inverted SPUI. The highway ramps would come up from the median of the highway to a standard intersection on the crossing street. That means no land adjacent to the highway is needed for ramps and more can be used for the neighborhood.

Biffa! My Suggestion is: Buy the tile with the small island (on the opposite end of the map from where you bought the tile at the start of this episode; where you suggested building an airport of some kind). You can then terraform the land, adding soil to this new area, so as to build an airport as you'd suggested, using the airport area feature (as opposed to the premade small ones). Beings you're playing vanilla/un-modded in this series, you can extract soil from the hill in the newest area you just purchased (around those ruins), should you run out of soil and need more. Keep this series going as long as possible, my tea sipping friend! ☝️🤠🇺🇸

Just use the 25 tiles mod. That'll bring you equivalent to the remastered edition, which is still vanilla as far as I can see.

Honestly, the 81 tile mod is pretty much Vanilla at this stage. You still have to deal with traffic issues, which is the main challenge of Vanilla.

I think it's an interesting idea to take the city as far as you can vanilla, then start adding mods to showcase what cool and powerful things they can accomplish. You could even leave the legacy city untouched and just add new modded neighborhoods and districts and compare them on the same map.

What what are my new jobs are doing is maxify the normal tiles and then using the 81 tiles mod just use the 81 tiles all my new tubers are doing it for the vanilla one no just be easy once you maximise that space but you have left😊

Hello Biffa. I like this new extention. And I tihink you should check for police fire and medical needs (my note is about 20:20). People needs to live in a safe place with easy access to healthcare as well as schools and transports facilities. I know it's a lot to think of. Imagine what it would be in CS2. It should be one of the first things you should think of! Fire, police, medics and schools.

Okay Biffa, what shall we do with Hugoslavia? I suggest: Extending the metro to Idon'tcareville and that other dense city area along the shore that has no metro. Install the 81 tiles mod and then you can build small country towns with farming and forestry industries.

The main road going through Ratterman Park is a bit Stroad-y. I prefer to keep the grid for the side roads, but skip every other intersection with the main road just to keep traffic flowing.

You should put some time into fixing I Don't Careville. Try to be a good Mayor to your last Vanilla City. Rejuvenate all your industrial areas so that they become Eco-Friendly. Finally when it all looks good. Put all your modes on and show us what a difference they can make.

Great video Biffa. Still can`t wait for Skylines 2. More tiles and bigger useable maps. Vennela with only 9 tiles is still big but not with all the DLCs. and assets. and I think the citizen cap is about 450,000. with no mods.

I say get the 25 tiles mod (or use the 81-tiles and don't exceed 25, which is more than enough for a good long while) You can get TM:PE and move it too if you want. Those are basic mods nowadays, I dont even consider my game modded with these =) Edit: "Watch it" too. so you can see right away problems with the town. I've been using it for a VERY long time, I even forgot it was not part of the game Oo; Edit 2 : "I don't care ville" -- there's some ressources below it. I'd say turn it into an ore/oil park for half of it, and put lots of trees for the other half. Get some Dual purpose Cargotrain/airport to minimise export/import traffic. That is, if you keep playing CS:1 afterall ! Thanks for the awesome vid !

Since you are one of my favorite Creator, I'll support this channel even if you do SimCity4 reviews from now on hahahah but CSL Vanilla play is Torture!!! Is the vanilla game in CLS2 also that frustrating? Can you detail a city in CSL2, with a "anarchy mode" in the game?

The nine tile limit in the game is a little annoying. At least if we weren’t restricted to unlocking an adjacent tile. The maps are huge and it would be nice to be able to unlock tiles that add interest but aren’t necessarily adjacent. I hope this mechanic is better realized in CS2

2:44 just thinking out loud here, but thinking about tile space, if you bought the tile with the little island, bottom right, you could build your international airport there, linking by rail, ferry and road for both passengers and freight into and out of the city

Airport is awesome idea but you should have used policies to decrease tax to that unique area. You could raise the overall tax but the policie for lower residential tax would make people prefer that place over another, instead of getting less money overall

Biffa 9 tiles is no longer Vanilla, if your looking at the newer console version 25 tiles can be unlocked. So no cheat, just a stretch to build the dream Hugoslavia

Keep I don't Careville. Just have it as the part of map that you could say it's the 'wrong side of the tracks'. And, for giggles, dump as much high density residential buildings into that area. As, for the airport tile... How about using it as a multi modal cargo and passenger hub.

Biff I've been reviewing the footage and you seem to connect the new residential area with the old one when you're marking out the zones at the very beginning. Could this be the reason residential demand was so low? Essentially the new area had all the residential building it needed because you'd connected it to the previous one. Just a thought

Playing Vanilla CS1 on console has had my last few cities progress WAYYY too fast while only being limited to 9 tiles that MUST connect to one another. It's so rough, especially if the outside connections are in multiple different tiles that aren't next to each other. I might play CS1: Remastered once all the DLC is available for a little bit before going over to CS2, but idk for sure.

Hello, I have a question for you. I have watched a bunch of your videos on dealing with traffic, but I have yet seen where you do what I do to get rid of like 40% of the traffic! What I do is only have 1 cargo hub that lets in inports only and will have several that allow exports only. On the inport hub I put an 1 way heading out and on the exports I put in 1 ways headed in. This way when a car/truck drops off they despawn. I was just wondering if this was a mistake or a good way to deal with all the traffic? Thanks if you reply! Merlin

I can't stand that yellow metro line in the double station uses only one track in both directions... Biffa! FIX IT!!! :D I Don't Care Ville have some resources nearby oil or ore - you could build some of that there.

Hit 8k on LD in one tile, then go on HD change for the redevelopment. I tend to hit >30k on 1 tile, sometimes even 40000

I think the problem isn't the amount of tiles themselves, but the "layout" of them like... Yes you can really screw yourself in terms of Buildable area and population by buying suboptimal tiles that are like 80% Water. Honestly it's why when I heard tiles would be smaller in CS:2 I was actually quite excited since it seems you won't necessarily have the same wasted space. Anyway if you do go for modding in more tiles I'd say go for 25. Since that's the amount Next-Gen Consoles "Remastered" versions have so it's still... kinda Vanilla. I feel like 81 pushes it too far into modded territory since that is exclusively a PC Modding thing.

if you do not install a mod for more tiles, the little corner just won't really work for you where you plan to do the airport. because you will want to change that interchanfge into a 4 way and it is just ever so slightly out of bounds of the tile you bought there so you could not access it properly to make it work. And don't do the airport on the little island please. Put a small little resort area there instead. Or fishing industry maybe. You also have not done much with the industires at all in this one as far as i can tell.

With how big I don't care ville had to become to generate resenditial demand. Does that mean that the city was heavily unbalaned, with potentially high unemployement?

Biffa, could I ask how your game stays at a stable fps? I got a 4070ti with a Ryzen 9 3900X and my game start dropping to 30 fps and lower after my city reaches ~10k size. I upgraded from a 2080 super thinking it would preform better but it's hardly noticeable.
