Rotten tomatoes said it was unoriginal. Dunno - to this day, this is still my favorite animated film. I thought it was very original with a FANTASTIC soundtrack. same goes for emperor's new groove. Back when animation companies hired some REALLY great artists for their soundtracks. aw, man. making me want to watch this again for the 273739379th time.
Hollywood wants to see an 'original' movie but doesn't account for old reused plot structures that are just well executed. See aforementioned examples, How to Train Your Dragon, Pirates of the Caribbean, and any number of adventure films.

Rotten Tomatoes just gathers reviews and gives a general consensus. They didn't say it was unoriginal themselves but Critics at the time did. But El Dorado came out at a strange time where 3D was just getting HUGE and people were more interested in that style of animation sadly,
I never understood why critics always said this movies bland, this is like the greatest kid movie ever. The songs kick ass, the characters are lovable, and the story's just one big fun adventure.
I love how this is the only song that's sung in-universe by the characters and it's literally them realizing how completely absurd their predicament is and they're just like; Alright, let's roll with this. 😂😂😂
Seriously!!! I was looking for it the other day and only found the Elton John radio versions. Which are fine... but relatively bland compared to the movie versions!
@@marinasaurus seriously though, they’re far less upbeat, and they remove any of the awesome singing between the actors. Its a major ego-stroke. It says ‘motion picture soundtrack’ but theres NOTHING from the movie. Just Elton John dubbing everything and making everything slow. when i click on a movie soundtradk i expect tracks from the movie, not just Elton John singing endless songs, half of which arent even from the movie, just call it something else then
The voice acting in this was spotless to me, especially since I had the audio tape and I listened to it all the time as a kid. I can't get Tulio's face out of my head when I hear his VA, same with Miguel.
Dale Quinton totally dnd characters. A bard and rouge that have taught each other their best skills. Now both can sing and lie, steal and charm.... perfect
Art is subjective, one is moved by what they feel, not by some arbitrary definition of professional quality defined by conforming to or breaking specific patterns. So they're both bops. Although I think Hunchback of Notre Dame has some great songs as well
bruh mad nostalgia right now. this film is legit the best animated film. it's rare a song in every "album" or soundtrack or whatever is as good as these
Whoa it's a good movie but best animated film..HELL NO. the prince of egypt destroyed i repeat DESTROYED this movie by a country mile. That movie was a masterpiece. Story, music plot. The road to El Dorado plot lacked structure and made up for it by the animation and music

I don't get why the soundtrack doesn't have the movie versions of this and The Trail We Blaze, those are way better than the soundtrack versions! Thanks for putting them up, I love this song. :)
I agree about this, but I thought there was only one version of The Trail We Blaze - the one they use in the film, isn't actually sung by the characters.
I was talking about this movie with my husband the other day. I said it's a classic and he disagreed. Am I just crazy or this movie a fricking CLASSIC?!
I haven't seen this movie in probably more than a decade, and about a month ago, something sparked a memory about this movie. I wanted to watch it again, but I completely forgot the title. Through about 2 hours of googleing, I FINALLY found it!!! I'm so glad I did. This is my favorite kids movie hands down.
My favourite animated movie since I was a kid. Now I have kids and they love it! Hearing this song never fails to make me happy, so many good memories!
As a Bioinformatics student I can tell you all that this is the best thing to keep yourself alive (or awake, as you wish to call it) while programing; also helps you to keep your best mood up!
As weird as it sounds, it was ahead of its time. It gives of a certain feeling of "bromance" which wasn't really a clear part of culture, to the point where you could make a animated film out of it at that time, but it is now, which is why it has such a cult following

Reading how the critic said this movie was BLAND, the amount of color was like being on acid. More color than all the Disney movies combined. Original songs and interesting plot. As a D&D fan this is what being a rogue and a friend with a bard is like.
For some reason when listening to this, I had a lot more fun singing along with Tulio and Miguel than the movie. The music is a lot more pronounced as well!
