Can we please talk about how wholesome the part of the movie is when this song plays!! Like it just fills you up with joy because Miguel is getting along with everyone. And the beauty of the dominoes scene!! The night being engulfed by a golded sun is so beautiful!!!
the movie was a huge flop in finacial view. 94 mio budget but only 74 mio income. its sad to see such an awesome movie fall under the aspect 2nd biggest fail of dreamworks...
This is so sad to know! This movie has everything you could ask for in an animation, adventure, comedy, friendship, love, an awesome soundtrack, lovable characters, epic lines and an evil dude to boot!! Why it flopped is lost on me.
Best thing about this song? It basically captures the various kinds of love without trying. A love for life, your community, for fellow man, friends, family, and even romance. You know, that someone who makes you believe in heaven without trying
Kita Lorraine "Rapes"? "Keep dreaming"? Who are you? A stupid kid who can't respect other people's opinions? The music of this film is BEAUTIFUL,just like The Prince of Egypt music. And they're both from Dreamworks. I personally prefer this to some songs from Prince of Egypt,it's my opinion and you should respect it. Have you seen Spirit The stallion of the Cimarron? That film has another beautiful soundtrack. And one more thing: you love a religious film like The Prince of Egypt and you talk about rape? You really WANT to act like a stupid child then uh?

This movie has the best soundtrack to any dreamworks, disney movie. it sucks there isnt more like this is movies today, wish there was more to their adventure
Can i just say, I'm pagan, but i love Prince of Eygpt. It's not that i have an issue with the religion (i do, a big issue), but i respect it for what it does. It is a story of two brothers at odds. It's not only about religion, it's about faith and trust and knowing that humans can't always do it alone. Even if you hate religion, you can respect it for the craft. The cinematography is amazing, breathtaking even.
People will have their own theories, but to me, this song is always from Miguel's point of view singing about Tulio. Miguel is a dreamer, and Tulio is a realist, and they need each other. "I'd believe, in anything, were it not for you. Showing me, by just existing, only this is true. I love you~" and so on. Let's just say this; Miguel is a dreamer as I stated and can go too far into his own things, forgetting about terrors and things. He needs Tulio to help him hang onto reality sometimes and it just defines their relationship, to me. I know some people say it's about Miguel loving El Dorado.... But I disagree.
If you take the 2nd part of the chorus, "I believe in many things were it not for you, Showing me by just existing only this is true", then it means that "your" existence shows that the world is actually limited to only "this"- since only "this" is true, and not as infinitely large as the "many things" he once believed in. Linked to the movie, it probably means that there's only one true ideal, one true goal or purpose in life, and wealth and riches are probably not part of that one goal.

Growing up, I believe I speak for everyone when I say: Watching El-Dorado and listening to Elton John’s unrivalled voice enchanting us in the background, made our childhood great. ❤️ Personally, the lyrics always approached me as a Sufi Song addressing God - the Merciful Creator of the Universe, without whom, existence wouldn’t be an entity. 🌍
It's an odd song for Elton John to write, being that he's a Satanist, has me puzzled, my only theory is that he's not singing about who we think he's singing about. Kinda like George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord". (also a Satanist)
I love how this song can be interpreted two ways,at least for me. In one hand,the obvious interpretation for some,is Miguel slowly falling in love with El Dorado and its people. Loving everything about it,the culture,the games,the animals. An in the other hand,it's surprisingly about Tulio. Miguel is a dreamer while Tulio is someone more down to earth and they need each other. Tulio keeps Miguel's feet on earth but who will lift up Tulio to have some fun? Miguel. He wishes Tulio could relax a second,and enjoy himself in this wonderful place. Cause he loves him. It could even be both at once. Miguel loves the city and wishes Tulio could come,see it,and love it as much. Isn't it adorable? Sometimes I wish Tulio and Miguel stayed a couple like it was originally planned.
What do you think of the idea that considering that due to it's troubled production due to it being set in South America & having a different formula from The Prince Of Egypt which the production for the former a challenge leading to the film being badly marketed as an adventure film instead of a comedy (the audience was uncertain about genre and age group) hurting marketing sales where the marketing campaign was only aimed at those under a decade old, the main reason the movie flopped commercially should've gone directly to video?
I can't explain it, but this movie and its soundtrack just make me so happy. Never fails to bring a smile to my face. Thanks, Miguel and Tulio - the mighty and powerful gods!
God I love this song! The animation movie version is so touching, the guitar and all the instruments harmonize altogether, this kind of music lasts a lifetime, the scenes in the film where this song was put in also fit perfectly. This animation and its music will definitely stand against the test of time :')

god this was my favorite movie as a kid, and honestly after watching some of the scenes now years later, I really think miguel loved Tulio in this movie, whether in a friendly way or romantic, their friendship is one of a kind
Lol I never took it as a love song very much. I thought of it as Miguel realizing what el dorado is really like and the people showing him their way of life and him falling in love with the place.
its even more beautiful when you remember this movie from a young age and raise your own child watching it. Now it has double the wonderful memories and the song just takes you back to watching your child fall in love with the film like you did. Also, obvious but.. ITS SIR ELTON JOHN !! Any music he touches is wonderful.

Without Question and Friends Never Say Goodbye give me the chills they're so good (It's Tough To Be A God is catchy, too). This soundtrack was/is so amazing.

I just wish we had longer version of this version of the song. The full Elton John one (Which is still good) is a bit slower and more piano and has and extra set of verses and a longer second refrain.
