Note how powerful the sound is with NO horn section, NO backup singers: 2 guitars, bass and drums (keys in the background). Keith's take on Chuck Berry is AMAZING.
Yes. Also : Keith's take on Chuck Berry was never better than when he was backed by Larry Taylor, who again has proved to be an expert in this style as a rythm guitarist;
@@31416yatoula I don't know if Mick Taylor did that much on the Chuck Berry stuff, but have to agree with you about everything else they did. Mick Taylor was just amazing. I think it just happened that Mick Jagger and Keith hit their peaks during the Taylor years. The songs were amazing, I think that any competent guitarist would have sufficed. (Just my opinion, of course!) But Taylor made it all that much more special.
Keith has said in interviews that when he first started playing guitar all he wanted, was to be able to play like Chuck Berry and he would be happy. You have surpassed your dream many times over Keith...
Wowwww!!!! This is amazing , pure rock and roll, I m crying listened to this, Charlie , you are the king of rock, you were more important than mick and keiith for the Stones in the sixties, I don t know it until you died.I love you Charlie, The Stones are Charlie s band, No Charlie, No Stones.
I saw them on this tour at Boston Gardens. I had cheap seats, but my buddy was working security for the Gardens and he got me down on the floor in front of the first row for about half the show . A night I will never forget... I was 17 years old... It's hard to believe that I am now 69 years old and Mick and Keith are still doing it... Amazing.
Peak era Stones, I’m so jealous! I know a couple that saw them on the 1972 tour (after the Sticky Finger’s album released in 1971, which had Can You Hear Me Knockin, and Wild Horse, & You Gotta Move) Wish I had a time machine, to see all my fav bands: The Doors, Zeppelin, Stones, Bowie, The Animals, etc in their prime
Hĕ had thāt Ability, főr Keith and whőmęvęr hę was playin wįf, the Brian Era, the very provocative Mick Era, and we have the Ronnie Era, you what ever, i love them ALL, but, really and truly, listening to Charlie Watts arrangements of all the Stones stuff, blows up my sense of time, uh oh, RAMBLIN, jűs sāyīn !😎✌😎!
I was only 6 when this was recorded. I wasn't even aware of the great live songs until I got Hot Rocks in 1979. I thought Midnight Rambler was the best. Then I heard Little Queenie on the radio. Loved the bass so much I had to get Ya-yas in 1982. It blew me away!!!!!!!!!! My favorite live album ever since.
Keith Richards and Charlie Watts were really The Stones Engines, and They Still Are. Through All These Years. It's Just Amaizing!!! The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in The World Ever. The Rolling Stones!!!!!🎸😎
Get your Ya-Yas-OUt! My favorite stones' live album. Saw this set in San Diego in 69. Also on the gig was BB King, Tina Turner, and Terry Reid. Two lowriders on reds passed out next to us and missed the whole thing. LOL.
incredible stuff. you can immediately tell the relative worth of any rock & roll band by the quality of their chuck berry covers. especially if they don't *have* any chuck berry covers. RIP chuck, and long live the stones.
Oh, Carol Don't let him steal your heart away Well, I'm gonna learn to dance If it takes me all night and day Climb into my machine so we can groove on out I know some swinging little joint where we can jump and shout It's not too far back on the highway not so long a ride You park the car out in the open you can walk inside A little cutie takes your hat and you can thank her ma'am 'Cause every time you make the scene you find the joint is jammed Oh, Carol Don't let him steal your heart away I'm gonna learn to dance If it takes me all night and day If you want to hear some music like the boys are playing Hold tight, bang your foot don't let it carry you away Don't let the heat overcome you when they play so loud Yeah, don't the music intrigue you when they get a crowd Hell nah, they can't dance I know you would you could I got my eyes on you, sugar, 'cause you dance so good Oh, Carol Don't let him steal your heart away I'm gonna learn to dance If it takes me all night and day Don't let him steal your heart away I've got to learn to dance If it takes me all night and day
I have only just found out they played a tune called Carol. That's my name and my dad used to love the stones but I never ever thought it might of been because of this tune he called me carol. I thought it was oh carol the other singing. I used to hate that. This has made my day. My dad's dead , I swear u learn something new ever day.
1969....I was there. This was the stones when they were truly at the top of their game. Mick Taylor awesome and 20 yrs old! Keith playing Dan Armstrong 6.,Terry reid, BB King and Tina Turner. A great concert. Recorded get your ya ya s out! Never forget this concert. Stones the best in those days. Long before the stadium shit!!!
Love it! Especially at 2:43 where Mick stops singing and all you hear is the rhythm guitar (Mick Taylor) and bass/drum combo. Ultimate example of the basis of Rock N Roll. If I was to leave a time capsule for a furture civilization to find and attempt to explain what Rock was all about this would be one of the examples. Regardless that they are doing a cover:) Thanks!
awesome bit of Stones inimitable history, I have a friend in the UK and I mentioned I bought some pants, she corrected me and said "no those are trousers", it was then I learned that all English call pants - trousers. Of course my memory perked up as I was reminded of this "famous" little speech by Jagger, I plugged it into Google "you don't want me trousers to fall down now do ya", low and behold there it was video and all, simply amazing, and l-m-a-o :)
Hearin 'Keef doing Chuck Berry is fucking awesome. Chuck was SUCH a HUGE influence on Keef. Listen to songs like "Respectable" and "Starfucker"- those are dead giveaways of Chuck Berry interpretations.
a late Happy Birthdays Mick Jagger !! All the Best furthermore to The Greatest of You! i was ~7 this time you performed and then you Rolling Stones were and are the mine along my any time :) i'll ever be in love with YOU! :D
I love how songs with Mick Taylor the comments are a relentless circle jerk about his talent. This solo by Keef has a so much more emotion and originality not to mentioned tone... Keef you are the best.
