I thought by '73 Jagger's voice was in a bad shape; By listening to some concerts, I realized that it's not true! These shows are among the greatest ones, he's sounding truly fine! The band sounds even better, Bill with some strong lines, Keith is singing really well, Charlie is still sounding excited while playing and Mick Taylor just fucking rocks!
Enjoy!
Setlist:
Brown Sugar; 3:39 Bitch; 8:24 Rocks Off; 12:45 Gimme Shelter; 18:10 Happy; 21:15 Tumbling Dice; 25:54 Love In Vain (Always good with Mick T.); 31:18 Sweet Virginia; 35:50 You Can't Always Get What You Want (Really good); 42:39 Honky Tonk Women; 45:39 All Down the Line; 50:01 Midnight Rambler; 1:00:02 Band Intro/Little Queenie; 1:05:22 Rip This Joint; 1:07:32 Jumpin' Jack Flash; 1:11:04 Street Fighting Man (Amazing solo!)

I was in attendance at this concert at Randwick. Only about 20 or 30 metres from the stage. So many ppl and not enough space saw the whole crowd (those in the "front-stalls") fall backwards like a Mexican wave and we spent a large part of the concert laying down on someone elses legs with others on "our legs". Like sardines in a can, we enjoyed every minute of this concert. Still had room to pass joints between each other and no one seemed bothered by having to lie down for the duration. Great memory of the only time I got to see the Stones live.

Just going through a Stones phase. This concert is amazing as is the sound quality. I am Sydney born and bred and would have been 5 years old when they toured in '73. I am envious of the people who saw them and love reading people's individual memories. Mick Taylor - I had heard the stories about his playing is up there with Clapton, Beck and Jimmy Page. Hearing is definitely believing. Another plus, another excellent set list by The Rolling Stones. The solo on Street Fighting Man is aces !

Same here. Five yo in '73. LOVE the Taylor years. So many terrific shows. And Jagger is still singing instinctively and not as a parody of himself like he started doing in '75, unfortunately. That said, the '78 tour had its moments but never would they approach the lyricism and flow of the Taylor years.

I love the Mick Taylor Era! Richards lays down his rhythm guitar 🎸 and Taylor is the counterpoint with beautiful slide guitar 🎸 or Blues Licks. And then you add Bobby Keys Sax and Nicky Hopkins on Piano and you got something great! Wonderful and thanks for uploading this so I can hear this brilliant Rock n Roll!
@cultfilmfreakreviews
@cultfilmfreakreviews Год назад
also when you listen close, Taylor is also the Rhythm Guitarist when he's not soloing... Which goes back to the Brian Jones era... Then the rhythm guitar goes into the solo while Keith's lead-riff aka rhythm charges alongside the lead solo... Which is different for The Stones... Usually when a lead guitarist is playing like, ACDC or CCR, the rhythm guitarist continues doing what they do while the solo is playing... With the Stones, the rhythm playing of Taylor comes around the bend and takes the lead while Keith is the Sherman Tank... it's basically TWO LEAD GUITARS at the same time, the solo and the riff/rhythm

I was there with my friends from Year 11 @ South Sydney Boys High School. We got there at about 6:30 AM to ensure a good spot and managed to get ourselves on the inside front page of our afternoon paper the Daily Mirror. We were first in that night and ran to the front of the stage and found a spot to the right of the stage, up against the security railing. Australian band, Headband, played first and they were great. The Stones exceeded my expectations. Mick Taylor was brilliant. Indeed, I ended up owning a 1960 Les Paul Standard several years later, just like Mick's. :-)

I´ve been hearing Stones since 64 in Rio when a gf shared her "TRS - The New Hitmakers' with mine Ferry Cross the Mersey lp. Her father was a sailor and brought the album from London and it sounded strange for her. Months after Satisfaction blows in the radio and the album was edit in Brazil. I really like the Stones ev´rytime. But when I hear Mick Taylor works on J&R songs I feel the same good sensation when I´ve heard Sticky Fingers, Exile and the 69/73 albuns. He was really so good! Understand: Keith is a great guitar player who makes the Stones sounds Stones. I like it much and recognize it. But Mick Taylor had his technical fingers running more and sounding properly enriching The Glimmer Twins compositions. Hearing this show I´m really amazed and my perception is on. Thanks for sharing, George King!

I saw The Stones in Melbourne on that tour. They played on an open-air show on a 100 degree day at Kooyong Tennis Courts. I was 16yo and it was only my second concert - the first was Led Zeppelin the year before at the same venue!!! - and I talked my way from the back grandstand down to the side of the stage near the front. The Stones were incredible and Mick really worked hard considering the heat. They also played that night but I couldn't afford another ticket (A$3.60 from memory). My friend was going to lend me the money but my dad wouldn't let me stay for it. I never forgave him.

There will never be any group that plays going on 57 years! And They set the standard that all others try to copy But end up burned out or dead! There was and still is a method to the madness. They know how hard they can push it! And They all recently except for Darryl Jones agreed that after touring since the 50th in 2012 non stop They did the ZIP CODE TOUR THEN THE ON FIRE TOUR. THEN THE OLAY TOUR. NOW THE NO FILTER THEY NEVER! FELT THIS TIGHT PLAYING LIVE. AND MICK,RONNIE,CHARLIE,KEITH SAID THE 4 MONTHS OR SO WE GET OFF. IS PLENTY BY THAT TIME WERE PULLING ARE HAIR OUT! LOL AND WHAT WOULD KIILL US NOW IS TO GO HOME AND SIT IN ARE ARM CHAIRS! LIKE THE OLD BLUES BOYS WERE A BAND NOT A GROUP THAT QUITS AS SOON AS THEY GOT ENOUGH MONEY FOR LIFE. WE LOVE WHAT WE DO! THE GRAND CHILDREN COME. WE WILL KEEP LEARNING AND PLAYING UNTIL A MAJOR PERSON DIES OR CANT DO IT BECAUSE OF HEALTH ISSUES.

I was there - by luck standing touching distance from about the centre front of the stage - so spent the time studying Mick's heavy ?blue eye makeup and realising it was intended to be visible and effective from a long way away.

Wow 2nd concert I ever saw in my life. Almost 15 & stoned on pot there with my mum who like 420 too. I still remember the 6 white horses drawing that white stage coach & the lights all going out & then on with explosions with psychedelically painted balloons came floating down then it happened again later with psychedelic ping pong balls got fired into the crowd. I took heaps home & had em for years lol

I have the Perth show from this same tour. I like that they played Rocks Off on these dates. On the U.S. portion of this tour, I believe they only played 'Rocks' a few times during the '72 tour. Micks voice is toast....

Was at this concert ... what an amazing show that late arvo. Everyone was stoned as smoke wafted passed the oblivious policeman who began tapping his feet as Gimme Shelter kicked off. Odd I recall that? 😆😂😇 Seems so long ago now ... RIP Charlie Watts you'll be missed 😢🇭🇲

When I saw them in July '72 in NYC, the newspapers used to have those late editions. So we're on the bus heading back to Jersey and the Daily News ha a few photo's and a very small write up, mostly naming each in the band. The last line was "....and Mick Taylor on rhythm guitar" Was the reporter anywhere near the Garden that night ??

Both 'Sticky' and 'Temperature' are bootlegs of the same day, February 17 '73, but of two different shows (Two shows on the same date); I uploaded a show at Perth City, January 24 '73, is that the one you want? Check my other uploads to watch it :) As to Faces, I don't truly know many bootlegs of theirs, sorry

Keith should never have messed with the opening chords of Brown Sugar. Rock perfection. My desert island opening riff. He did it right on Sticky Fingers (the two greatest chords in rock history) and then did a hammer-on into G-C-G chords after that in all live versions. It's C..G... Keith... I suppose 50 years down the line he's not going to change.
