the rose changing the lyrics from “she’s in the rain” to “we’re in the rain” in the end is so powerful. Always gives me goosebumps!

The Rose KBS performances are something else, I'm not sure how copyright free they are, but even if you cant put them on RU-vid you must watch them in your free time. Specifically "ILYSB" , "California" , "Baby" , and "Take Me Down" are some of my favorite live versions of The Rose ever

The video for She’s In The Rain used photos that Jonghyun had posted on Instagram without asking permission to do so. Based off of the subject matter of the song and the fact it was released less than a year after he passed away, it was seen as insensitive. The Rose did not know about this because the director inserted the photos, and the band did not want to hurt anyone. So they removed the MV rather than have this controversy overshadow the song and uploaded a new video which is beautiful in its own right and IMO very creative. She’s In The Rain is such a beautiful and powerful song. It’s one of my favorites.

I think red for me stands for just being alive. Being so truly alive and living with your whole being without any concerns for what others think. Like, when we were young, our parents might've asked, "what do you want to be (when you grow up)?" and I feel like saying that I want to be RED is almost a defiant way of answering that. It's an answer that doesn't really make logical sense. It's not a concrete, solid thing that you can be...but it's a color; it's an expression; it's a feeling. I think Woosung's saying that he just wants to be fully himself--someone who can be just as bright and vibrant as the fireworks and the red streaks in the sky because we're truly all brilliant if we just let ourselves shine, no? I got the amazing opportunity to see The Rose live recently, and She's in the Rain live was ETHEREAL. Them live is a complete experience. If you ever get the opportunity definitley take it 😭❤

Beauty and the beast was the first song they released together after leaving that horrible company. It's already sad and beautiful, but it also meant so much to us.

I love Face because it’s FULL of innuendos but in such a strange and artistic way, it’s so so cool- you can really notice new details every time you watch it, like understand new things…..for example, what i saw right from seeing the teaser was that the note on the piano being tapped rapidly at one point is a G note….so…..very clever and playful symbolism they have going on

Woosung's solo music is definitely more suggestive that what he does with The Rose. His song Phase Me was my most played song of the year according to Spotify, so I obviously think that one's worth checking out, lol. I hate that you discovered them after the US leg of their tour was over. The Rose live just hits different. Their tour was both celebratory and cathartic. I've never been at a show that had such a positive vibe. I saw them twice and had to give myself a stern talking to to keep myself from trying for a third date.

In my interpretation, i don't think RED stands for something in particular, but i think it's because red is a color that really stands out, compared to others, and i think that's the message. he's saying that he wants to stand out, to be himself regardless of what other people think or say of him (as mentioned a couple times in the mv), he wants to be free (like fireworks, like a flame), so i guess that's the real message. About Woosung's solo work, you should check out his latest album ("Genre") and his latest EP ("MOTH"), you should react to "Phase Me" and "Dimples" as well, they're both really great songs. I think Woosung goes with a more "sexy" vibe when he's solo and The Rose goes more deeper with feelings, that's what i've noticed. (both really great and i kinda wish The Rose could do a concept like that one day)

I love both The Rose and Woosung's solo work. This year Phase Me was on repeat for quite some time. I love how creative he is (Dimple and Lazy are great too). So happy to see the boys all back and together and making music and touring. I tried to get to MN to see them. Wish they cam closer.

when you said that "she's in the rain" could be interpreted differently by a lot of people according to what they're going through, it was spot on! The Rose has said in past interviews that they write with not only their own experiences in mind but the experiences that they imagine their listeners might be experiencing as well and once the music is out there, it becomes an open book. I'm surprised that you got that!

Face is meant to be empowering. All the people and images shown in the video do not fit Korean beauty standards. "Too short, too fat, too many freckles, no transgender, etc." But Woosung is saying he loves your face anyway and that you're beautiful no matter society's standards 🧡

red is my ultimate comfort song & i don’t even know if i’m going to be able to put into words why but let me try. first off "red“ to me means just being loud, being free, being who you are without restricting yourself because of society, choosing to live as your most authentic self. now, that message alone is already always very appreciated by me, a queer person, so i was already down to never shut up about this song. however what rly gets me is the bridge + last chorus. the bridge lyrically ties this song together for me, it’s just what they wanted to say compressed into a few bars & done so so well. then the last chorus; switching "i wanna be red" with "i don’t wanna be dead" - genius. as someone who was struggling with expression, hiding myself, depression & even suicidal thoughts for a long time, that part really gets me emotional because it’s the exact feeling i had, when i finally realized that i did //not// want to live this facade anymore, that i wanted to truly express myself the way i wanted to & that i truly did not want to die. also, the first two times woosung sings the "i wanna be" (partly) in falsetto & even though it’s gorgeous, it is still head voice, ergo not as powerful. in the last chorus however he uses his full chest voice when singing the last "i wanna be" & even though it’s not like that is unheard of, it really hits different for me in the context of this song. it feels like he is singing with the same desperation to be himself that i felt when i got to that earlier mentioned point. i just feel the genuine desire to just live the way they want to live from it & it makes me tear up almost every time i hear it. hope this makes any sense to whoever reads it because i feel like i just vomited words onto my laptop but yeah,, this song is really, really special to me.

it's been like 12 hours since i saw all of these songs (except face) live and i'm still in shock and not over it, it was perfection. i'd recommend their live stages so much, you need to see them, they're insane

Lots of bands have done the emo-rock genre, and I'm 55 so I've heard them all. I think The Rose is one of the most effective bands in this genre, with maybe Paramore/Hailey Williams right up there with them. Woosung/Sammy's voice is just perfection. One of the reasons for the disappearance of She's In the Rain is that their previous management company, J&Star, was toxic AF. They got out of that situation, relaunched under new management and label, and they will be touring for the next six months I think.

I'm so glad you're continuing and enjoying this journey of discovering my absolute favourite band ever. You should really watch some of their live performances. Besides their own songs, they covered ILYSB and it was SO good. For more of Woosung's stuff, Lazy, Beautiful Girl (ft. BTOB's Peniel), Phase Me and Wolf are all amazing.

The grandpa and the kid to me was def a Pinocchio thing. The grandpa seemed to make him because he yearned for a son or something like that. Which is why he was sad when the kid "was a puppet" and just stared and didn't do anything but he lit up when he came to life. That part made me the most emotional for some reason.

Saw them last sunday and this is just adding to my post concert depression after hearing she's in the rain, beauty and the beast and red live lol they truly are so incredible, my love for them just grew more if that's even possible ❤ can't wait to see more future reactions to their music, I'd recommend Like We Used To cause I think it's probably their most underrated single but it's so good!

The thing about the She is in the rain MV is that they took photos from Jonghyun's Instagram account without permission. I know the members are not at fault, they said it was the director of the video's choice and they didn't know but I feel like they did right with puting the MV down and I'm dissapointed somebody reuplouded it. I understand it was meant to be a homage because of the meaning of the song but they should have asked Jonghyun's family if it was ok.

It's funny that the version of She's in the Rain is the original video, and I think (please others, correct me if I'm wrong) the polaroids hanging were pictures taken by Jonghyun. I understand that the members didn't know they'd used those, and just had their video taken down for a reason they didn't know. :\ Beauty and the Beast was contractually the last song they had to do for the old company they sued/left and was released around the time most of the members finished their military service. Red so one of my favorite songs because it's just perfect. I'll agree with others that ILYSB, California, and Like We Used To (underrated!) are musts. The group has been releasing super fun shorts on their own YT channel that really show their personalities. For a whole Woosung bit, Lazy is my fave (with his awesome doggo in it!), Phase Me is spectacular, Dimples is lovely, and I like CWS with KARD's BM as two California guys together.
