Abandoned in 1989, this 305 powered Pontiac Firebird was left to rot away. But why? Today we will see if it will run and drive under its own power. Saving another muscle car from becoming scrap metal.
About the gearshift positions you were wondering about - the "S" and "L", officially, stand for "Super" and "Low", but it's just 2nd and 1st gear like on most any other automatic. A quart and a half wouldn't be anywhere near enough if it was too low to go into gear to start - I have a Cutlass Supreme with a TH350 that used to leak out a full gallon and a half when stored over the winter and still had just barely enough to get into gear. Definitely want to see more of this one.
Well, my first car I bought was a 1974 Firebird with the 250 straight six in 1984 and Also needed severe rear subframe repair, re-recorded repair I bought a mid 70s Camaro shell cut the unit body frame out and re-attached to the Firebird body had it braised all back in quite a project for a young guy in my late teen to early 20s The alignment shop told me that I did an awesome job. It did not take much to align all four wheels. Boy, I miss that car
was awesome to see it running & driving good work! gotta love the old 'birds I'd say just give it the bare essentials to run safe & reliable on the street with a set of big & little cragars jacked up rear old skool cool go for it
The Trans Am package makes them look way better! Really just want to be able to get in the car and cruise the town whenever and not have to worry much. I’ll keep my eye out for that spoiler!
LOL we just basically did the same Will it run. I just released a video of a 79 Z28 Camaro yesterday . The Tag on mine said it was last on the road in 88.
For sure lol Good video man! Yall need to find a good 350 to drop in, and one day we can have a shoot out on our will it runs 2nd gens lol@@RealSteelFabrications
I seen a second gen firebird and had to come check it out, cool video👌. I love Pontiacs, i have a 79 10th anniversary TA. Looks like you got some work to do there 😅 mines a running driving project aswell but it looks pretty from across the street.. We probably got about the same amount of work to do though. Wishing you guys luck and wouldnt mind seeing more of this old bird.
My neighbour across the street has a silver one. It's not showroom quality, but she's probably in her 80s now and rarely drives it. If I had the money, I'd offer to buy it. I'd love to do a video of it, and interview her, but it would probably just be weird amd awkward. Apparently her late husband had a matching one, but I think it was gone already when we moved in 16 years ago.
Can we please see another video with this car I'd love to see how you make it look good you should put clear coating on it to keep the patina look but make the rest of the car good looking love your videos and I've recently subscribed, Keep up the amazing work
love what i saw so far, it looks like its jus tweeking it, "painting" it to the "original color" sounds like silightly rough, just question, it seems like was running great but is it "nornal" to have the white smoke" coming upwards etc when you drove it for that short time.? let me ask this, for a normal car brand new or slightly used car low miles is smoke normal with or without the hood attached like you demonstrated. is that what they call pull it over over heating etc? sorry for the wording.
Smoke can obviously mean trouble, different types, colors and depending where the smokes coming from, means different issues. To me it's just second nature 😅, You asked a question with many answers and explanations. I recommend reading or watching lots of automotive type material. I started to write out an explanation for ya because I'm board..but it's just to much to explain.
