I honestly really like how they designed Kalistas human face-- it actually just looks like they re-constructed her more ghastly and emaciated one we're used to, keeping that strong jaw and smallish mouth

Gwen has made Camavor -> Present without any influence so that’s why I classified her as the only “real” Camavorian character (And Viego,Kalista, etc… are completely ruined so I don’t count them as “Camavorian” but “Shadow Isles”)
It would be fun if Riot released some kind of what if scenarios either as short stories or cinematics with different animation styles, like what if the dagger ment to Viego actually hit him, what if xerath didn't become ascended, what if jhin killed zed before shen came to rescue, what if irelia didn't cut Swain's arm, what if Icathia never used the void, what if pantheon didn't die, what if gangplank didn't kill mf mother, what if seraphine was a interesting champion, etc...
I really love this idea, I’d also love to see if they did a What If sort of thing about different skin lines with alternate lore to the main story. Like a whole episode about High Noon or the Battlecast skin line would be dope
There was this one idea that I always wanted to see was a “what if pantheon and aatrox’s situation were flipped” like if pantheon was a darkin and aatrox was the aspect of war, like the stories of the skins could stay pretty close to they’re original lore but have a twist. Like Aatrox was the targonian aspect of war and was very power hungry causing mayhem and being shunned by other aspects, and pantheon still being Atreus but having found the “darkin spear” that took control of him till one day the aspect of war found him and killed him but the man still remained alive with an ember of the darkin’s power.

Wishing for a Jhin novela either as him before his arsenal as the golden demon, when he was released and created chaos in Ionia and piltover or after being freed again. The last one we don't know if it happened because the world walker expansion in LoR doesn't tell you if that was before he decided to go after Zed again
while more Jhin is lovely, I kinda don't like how he's being handled thanks to LoR, the mystery is such an important part of Jhin and how he works as this menacing killer, having so much of his past revealed and given context undermines him, if the explanation was vague or maybe a joker-esque scenario where his past is "multiple choice" then I would like it better but they straight up gave us the identity of who freed him and provides him equipment plus resources, it's a sour taste and if even more of his how-to's are revealed then we're just left with a killer with style
I might be in the minority, but god I hope we don't actually get a Jhin novela, or at the very least not from his perspective. Mystery makes Jhin, revealing more of him just diminishes his character.
@@rimurutempest4945 The only thing I can think of similar to whole idea is a novela or short story from Jhin's perspective, but like in more "poetic" way. Kind of like Awaken cinematic, we got confirmed that guards in his traps actually were bleeding heavily, but he saw that as exploding colorful flowers. So something that shows us how he sees the world in that way. But I agree that making a book with Jhin without the mask and stuff would change too much about his character
I think the lack of armor for the guard makes sense time wise, this is earlier modern runeterra time so it’s safe to assume that they didn’t use a lot of armor back then. Probably because there weren’t any huge threats at the time.

Quite sure no character will be betrayed, killed or transformed in an undead ghost, cursed to suffer for centuries and respawn everytime they re-died, forgetting a bit of their past and humanity in the process. So, don't worry.
It'd be an excellent crossmarketing opportunity if Riot released a "Camavorian" skinline for the first three characters around the novel's release. Or a human Kalista or Hecarim skin at least. Big kudos to the artist too! Kalista looks very similar how I imagined her living form, and Hecarim... Well, let's just say his look surprised me in a good way xD Also Viego has never been this creepy to me. In his human form, especially on the book illustrations, he gives the impression of a whiny pretty-boy, incapable of doing anything on his own. But this smug bastard expression on his face and the look in his eyes with the red dots tell you he means business, and a serious one of that (provided he FINALLY intends to). And there's grumpy librarian Grael... He reminds of myself as I'm trying to read on public transportation in dim light xD
I remember the interview with the Airship Syndacate. They were really terrorized about an "elephant in the room" that what never addressed. I fear that some of the beautiful lore in the Ruined King game (for example the Ahri tribe, or the Buhru collaboration with the Blessed Islands), could be just added in the game because the characters, and not be canon. Let's hope that book will confirm the game, and not to create another timeline.
Damn, I really thought they’re giving us a fixed version of the Ruination event story with this book, but I’m still looking forward to the stories of the past kingdom.
TBF I'm kinda ok with the light camavorian armor, especially since from what I see they have the same climate as us. Heavy armor will kill you due to heat stroke. (but I'm sure this is not what the authors inteded). Reminds me of the explorers who visited our country. Light clothing with a few armors here and there. IIRC they were called conquistadors and they colonized us for hundreds of years.
It must be kind of insane for you Necrit, to soon read about the character that is based on you. I know that if I where covering a game for years, then a character where made in my honor for it, It would take some time for me to get used to it xD
2:46 Maybe, differently from Noxus, Camavor doesn't have that many sources of metal, which would explain the leather-based armor, and don't let the simplicity fool you, leather armor was very effective, couple that with the chain mail and the helmet, those soldiers are more protected than most champions! Coming back to the possible lack of metallic resources, that would explain why Hecarim has the full set of metal armor, Hecarim was the commander of the Iron Order after all, maybe what made them stand out as an elite force was what named them, Iron! (And obviously the rigorous training) I hope the book is structured similarly to how George Martin does, with each chapter from a different perspective, that way you can explore so many storylines, we could see things from Thresh's point of view, from Yorick's, Kalista's, Ledros's even from Viego's, so much potential man!
I really hate how they turned Viego and Isolde into a "complicated" relationship ffs the entire Ruination happened bc they madly fell in love while young and Viego's love for her was so strong he couldn't keep it together when she died basically bc of him and was willing to challenge even god-like unknown powers to resurrect her and then amidst the whole fuck up that event was they also went like "eh, maybe Isolde didn't really love him you know" which to me is just complete trashing of the entire premise of the story. They turned a kind of star-crossed lovers narrative into a basic, boring and useless "he was a crazy tyrant, maybe even abusive towards her, she hated him and helped Sentinels fight him to kill him once and for all". I really wish they would've at least stayed true to their own narrative, it would've made the story more tragic, Gwen's existence and motives deeper and overall would've felt more emotional to see Isolde forced to help kill the love of her life...
Isolde hates Viego? where did you get that?, they loved each other very deeply and Isolde still loves him. They just confirmed the relationship wasn’t a perfect fairytale, it doesn’t mean Viego was abusive all the time
That is what I don’t like about villian story writing. They only do this so that we don’t actually like the “bad guy”. You can give a villain a wholesome or loving backstory but all of the sudden we hear that they were truly evil or irresponsible and they committed tons of war crimes and such. I hate that. Can’t we just have one villain that is actually just misunderstood in action?
@@mlinxl9090 They hinted it with the story + Gwen's voicelines against him all come from a place of hatred even tho she's literally alive bc of a piece of Isolde is inside her. She literally says that Isolde pitied him and that she hasn't forgotten Viego, but Gwen can't forgive him as if he intentionally hurt her to begin with when everything went down as an accident. All points toward a love that started very strong from both of them but then Isolde started to have second thoughts. To me this is awful bc they always teased the Ruined King as a kind of tragic anti-hero, someone who was not evil and didn't want to conquer the world for his own selfishness, but was willing to do anything to resurrect the love of his life, but then you add in the fact that not only he wasn't a good person, like, at all, but also that he was delusional in believing Isolde still loved him so much and now the extreme actions he did just feel... dull. As if he was just a spoiled brat that felt entitled to a love that didn't exist anymore.
@@claudionosotti8812 i think it was more because Isolde accepted her death and didn't want to be "saved" or "resurrected" if she died. She had found her peace. But Viego out of love (a selfish form of it but love anyways) did resurrect her, leading to a lot of pain. She loved him but was accepting that it was her time and that she'd see him again once he died. Instead due to the obsessive nature of his love, he tore that peace from her and cast them both into a dark and painful cycle. Now they can't be together in peace, as he's trapped himself in a way. She wanted things to be ok, but his desire to not lose her (for a while) cost them everything. I still find it very tragic.
I have been following the League of Legends lore for a few years now, and I thought the Ruination Novel really helped bring the characters as well as the Camavor and Shadow Isles regions to life. Although, I haven't played the game much recently, when I see others playing the game with a champion such as Kalista or Thresh, I would likely be thinking about their background story and other details found in the lore. The book is definitely something to read for someone interested in lore.
Ledros will make a good supp in LOL of top but for his story that want to protect his love well supp fits better with the "protect" theme maybe he will have something like kalista spear to link with his adc
This made me think about their own SCP Artifacts in Blessed Isles. Since Yorick can commune with the dead, would he also be similar case of an artifact?
As long as they leave Kallista's splash art as that and NO further change. She's attractive but normal, that is a very normal woman with little skin shown. Keep it that way. Please. Also, did anyone notice they mispelled Kallista's name on their website? .-. ngl very conflicted for this. Extremely excited about Kallista's novel and extremely afraid of her getting the unbound Thresh, Spirit blossom Kindred treatment. Also Anthony Reynolds is an okay author, he did the Garen novella. I've read a few of his books like the Word Bearers trilogy and Kharn. He's a competent writer on a similar level as Mercedes Lackey when it comes to world building so high hopes for that.
Here's an idea for another similar tragedy novel, one on the fall of Icathia, that would end with the void destroying the region. We could see characters like Jax, Zilean, even Aatrox pre-darkin when he was just an ascended warrior.
What if the man traveling with Kalista is actually Ledros?It would make sence,since he wants to protect her and probably wouldn't want her to go on a potentially extremely long and dangerous trip alone
i just finished reading the book two days ago, i have so many thoughts on it, but I'll wait for Necrit to post a video about it. And yes, Necrit, the king's adviser, is present in the story. idk if his full name by canon is Nunyo Necrit, but that's how Kalista and Viego call Necrit in the novel.
I think it'd be interesting if they reworked Shaco to be the one who assassinated Isolde. There's a lot of potential with that. It'd be pretty easy to spin him as a demon, his associated emotion could even be grief because of Isolde's death affecting Viego. Not to mention that Kathkan has some history with demons (namely, Ashlesh) and it wouldn't be too hard to say that Shaco could've been controlled by the Kathkani in some way in the past for warfare. The hardest part is figuring how all this fits in, it's confirmed that having a demon's name gives you some power over them so maybe he could be an Azakana (lesser demons) controlled by Kathkan until Isolde's death when he gets to feed on grief and breaks free of their control? Another problem with this is to figure out what he's doing in the present and there would probably have to be some kind of timeskip in his lore as well.
So instead of looking for some mysterious magical land for a cure, Kalista could have ventured to the most likely suspect (a rival nation) and this entire ruination shiz could have been avoided.
I am so excited for this!! THIS is the ruination story I was hoping to learn more about when the ruination event was teased. I really can't wait. This is one of my favorite stories in lol lore
There was leak or in some post about creating knight champion. Ngl when i saw ledros first thing to come to my mind was: That's hell of knight. I know there isn't any way that he will be this champ but still concept and lore wise it would be to great. Knight that failed to protect his loved one now goes to find traces of what he lost
I would like that with the release of the book, they release skins from "before the ruination" of Kalista, Viego and Hecarim. Also, present Ledros as the new champion. Let it be in his "ruin" form and another skin from "before the ruination". It would be justice after that Ruination event.
This is literally rogue one. We know pretty much everyone in this novel will die. Some of them come back to life, technically, but everyone dies beforehand
I hate how they ruined Veigo’s character to make him an asshole who was abusive and Isolde never loving him. The tragedy is that he sacrificed everything because he genuinely loved her, he was just misguided.
@@adonaimelles2317 it was a small cutscene but he basically wanted isolde to act want he wanted her to be, his "queen". When she was dying from the poison veigo basically wanted isolde to live longer by some potions/artifacts idk but it did glow red. Also he did all that forcefully he didn't consult isolde on that he did that all himself without her permission. When he resurrected isolde through the water of life. There's a small scene where they argued and veigo basically said he knows whats best for her and then isolde slash veigo with his sword and end of cutscene
I'm so excited about the recent explosion of league lore over the last couple of years. This IP is going places, maybe it'll be on the level of WH40k or DND some day.
