I mean, I understand why someone could call him a Mary Sue, because personality wise Jonathan seems to be way too perfect, he's too kind, respectful and doesn't seem to have any notable negative quality apart from maybe being a bit clumsy, like, Young Jonathan was a bit spoiled and was an animal abuser but his older self doesn't have these qualities, But in the end a Mary Sue is not only perfect in personality but also in power, and Jonathan gets his ass handed to him many times in his part and he fucking dies, so I don't think he counts really, he's just a bit bland as a character. Really, The closest Jojo to be classified as a Mary Sue would probably be Giorno.

Random side note: I want to see a mod where all the stands are hidden. The game plays normally you just can't see any of the stands. I want to experience fights how a normal human outsider would looking in. That'd be funny.

@@penguindragon0155 Its actually implied a lot of the physical objects (Hol Horse's Emperor, the book of Thoth, etc.) ARE actually able to be seen by others without Stands. Which is both less funny, and infinitely more hilarious, since you just see a man materialize a gun out of nowhere and shoot a man.

How do you make Rohan of all people boring??? Rohan's stand isn't even limited to just restricting things. He can just write "X was blasted back 3 meters" and it'll happen. You are literally given a blank check to be as creative with grapples/combo strings as you want!

eh Part 3 is pretty weak compared to future parts but not the worst (that goes to part 1, which is still a good part) Part 3 is just weaker because it's the first of the "stand mangas" so it hasn't gotten super creative and unique yet. still great tho

Not gonna lie, I think it was honestly fine being priced 50$ Went back to original ASB and they are completely different games with the changes they made. It is like Smash 4 to Smash Ultimate level changes. Made me appreciate ASBR more because it is almost unbearable to play the original now. Like Lisa Lisa and vampire Dio might have the same moves technically, but they play so differently in the original and improved heavily in ASBR

Me and a friend have this running joke whenever we think about playing this game, and its about "our lord and savior, Iggy" since they put Iggy on the reconnecting screen for online, which shows up a good 9/10 whenever I play with my friend, so the idea of Iggy being this big gatekeeper for whether or not you get to play the game with others online is hilarious!

Everyone thinks Jonathan is a Mary Sue because Araki purposefully made him a paragon of justice and goodness specifically so he could make future Jojos delinquents and criminals and no one would question their heroic pedigree, because they’re all descended from Jonathan. You could call him a “purity sue” or a “morality sue” but not a Mary Sue.

I wish there was more lore related diaoluge like how the superhero fighting games did, where they talk about their opponent and have a back and forth. like it would be cool to see what Foo Fighters thinks about Kira, or what Speedwagon thinks about Pucci if these characters were to meet up and start fighting. rather than: Foo Fighters: Im only here because of Jolyne Foo Fighters: Im only here because of Jolyne Foo Fighters: Im only here bec- oh hi Pucci and thats it.

A rekka is a special move in fighting games that has an additional move by doing another input or button press. For example: a rekka special requires doing a quarter circle forward and it only hits one time but you can continue the move by performing another quarter circle forward and repeat it till the end. The first character that comes to mind is Kyo Kusanagi from KOF I mean he used to have a fireball but changed to a rekka.

I think the wildest thing was killer queen was renamed not because of the queen song. But because Katy perry held the license to killer queen because of her perfume line by the same name came out at the exact same time all star battle released in the west and the anime debuted a year later.

IMO the biggest sin was not including Dead Man's Question's Kira as a playable character instead of just an outfit, as Spirit Detective/Assassin Kira would be freaking badass as he has a lot of room for creative and interesting gameplay just from the limited amount of feats he did in the 2 chapters. It does make sense though to split the first two kiras as he completely switches tactics after getting Stray Cat, as he's a lot more cautious about getting into melee range, while OG Kira was extremely arrogant due to never really fighting anyone who could stand up to him before and grossly underestimated his capabilities and limitations. OG Kira is a lot more melee heavy, and uses the coins which are less dangerous but more tactical than the bubbles (basically helping deny the enemies movements while you close in for combos) and SHA, while Kosaku is counters/healing, and tons of ranged attacks with a lot of flexibility, with his melee being mostly a last resort.

SBR is gonna benefit so greatly from being animated. If people already think it’s a top 3 part of jojos then just wait. Some of it like the golden rotation/spin and a few of the antagonists stands are kinda confusing when they’re just pictures. Anime is gonna add a whole new life to the part

So, as part 3 was releasing its first season, my brother got me into JJBA. We became supernerds and read through EVERYTHING available. Not gonna lie, some of the hype that came within coming years was slightly irritating cuz I'm "that guy who doesn't like extreme mainstream" and even though we were xbox kids, we picked up a PS3 and the original ASB just because it looked sick. My disgusting hol horse plays made my brother threaten time and time again to snap the disc. One of the most fun fighting games for the fans of a series ever.

This has to be the worst take on Jojo in general I've ever heard from calling Johnathan a Mary Sue to calling Part 3 "the worst part". The only valid complaint here is the lack of rollback netcode but even then I hardly ever have issues with that playing online.

Outside of the abysmal online, (even for me, someone that hardly plays fighting games online) and the fact that regardless of what caused the disconnect (which often leads to a glitched screen) the game will end up blaming YOU for it and marking disconnects on your card, which will just lead you to finding people with bad connections more often, I feel like the game got massively done dirty in terms of stages and costumes. For how much the game recycled from EOH, they took almost no costumes from it, didn't add any new ones that would have been cool, such as FF's original form or DIO's part 6 version of his yellow outfit, but we didn't even get the Joestar Mansion or the inside of the prison from EOH, or anything new for part 7 outside of 1 recycled stage, even though the story takes place AROUND THE CONTINENT. Not even the addition of the alt Diego inspired them to add a new stage.

money. unfortunately crossplay costs more money than not doing it. you both have to pay people for more hours to get that work implemented and those deals cut, but more importantly console makers do not want crossplay. they always want you to stay exclusively within their ecosystem. so if you approach the console makers and tell them your game should have crossplay, they go "cool. your licensing fees just went up asshole" because they want you to help mitigate "potential lost sales" since some of the players are buying the other console instead. given how budget this game clearly is, not having crossplay was basically an inevitibility

I still remember buying this game day 1 for the ps3 for me and my lil bro , cause we loved Jojo's BA, to play and then we just laughed our asses off to the "copyright friendly" names the stands now had. Lil' Bomber was one of the best, algonside Ice Cool. Oh, and Deadly Queen takes a top spot too. But your pronunciation of Prosciutto and Pesci makes me die a bit inside.

I will never not be salty about how this game was robbed. A 2D Jojo fighting game is something I've ever wanted ever since I fully got into the series, and this (even if it's 2.5D) was a dream game for me. I didn't know of the original's existence, and either way the new coat of paint R brought was fantastic. I am sad I will never get to see something like a Jotaro vs Dio EVO Grand Finals where Dio is gonna finish off Jotaro with a level 2, but Jotaro gets just enough bar to escape and make a comeback, and the crowd and commentators go wild. Man.

Also Made in Heaven was made significantly worse in ASBR vs the original. The enemy is no longer stuck in slow motion, among other things, and as a result most Final Pucci players recommend simply staying in C-Moon and just not having a level 1 super.

I think my problem woth your complaints about the characters is that it boils down to like 3 things 1. Valid complaints that have been talked to death (roll back) 2. Personal dislike for moves or a character (opinion) 3. Things that they have patched (I feel really fluid playing as rohan and I feel that mariah isn't bad at all)

Can't believe you skipped Polnareff, the guy that gets increased attack speed and double hits on all his attacks for his HHA. Also theres the arguably toxic mechanic of taunting when you down the opponent and it makes them lose an entire meter of super.

I believe it came out that copyright doesn't have as much to do with the names being changed as it is Shueisha doesn't want to share the names for localizations so they have them change them for international releases.

28:00 Diavolo's counter used to work against projectiles in the original version, but it caused to many weird interactions with characters that had both a projectile and a counter move, so R made it melee only like every other counter. The other day I had Jojo in my dream. I dream so much, often so vividly, I don't bother trying to write anything down because it could keep me from starting my day for up to two hours. All I can remember is trying to be like Giorno but I had to punch a thing to get more of the base material/regrow whatever it was. There was a need for more rubber, so after ripping out the remaining rubber (hosing? tire fragment?) on this device... I punched it, and rubber trees grew. Like, too much grew. I distinctly remember it going out of control and trying to take over the island from an isometric style view (like viewing a minecraft map); I thought it was Iceland or something we were on.

Fyi a Rekka character is a character who uses rekka combos which is in GG Terms are characters who use gatling specials to chain together a combo. Imo they're really fun. Also, I would've loved to see best girl Hot Pants in ASBR, guess we gotta wait until part 7 gets animated I guess. They also put Joshu in EOH but they didn't add him into ASBR??? Okay Bandai.

Hey, Sugita Tomakazu as Joseph is the supreme VOICE ACTOR for Joseph, It's seems you are more of a DUB guy, but you should know that the power of comedy and voice acting of Sugita is supreme (He also voice Gintoki from Gintama and many many other animes)

But you also have to remember that part 8 *just* ended. It's not exactly a good idea to spoil literally everything. it's also why Weather Report and legacy Pucci are both DLC characters, since part 6 had an anime adaptation that just finished. They want to avoid spoiling it as much as they can.

I feel like one of the biggest problems this game had pre release was the 10 (actually 11 because Weather was supposed to be in the base game but got cut along with MIH Pucci being straight up removed from the game because Netflix is stupid) new characters hype builder, and then like 8 of the "new" characters were characters that were in Eyes of Heaven and more or less just ported over. Trish, DIU Jotaro, Speedwagon, Mariah, Pet Shop, Yokako, Dino Brando, and Whitesnake Pucci were all characters brought over from Eyes, Foo Fighters and Prosciutto/Pesci were the only actual new characters out of the 10. And then it _continued_ in the dlcs with Stroheim and AU Diego. At least the grand majority of dlc was new characters and finally capping off this games life with a real Jojolion rep in Wonder of U, but at that point they might as well have swapped it and made Foo Fighters and Prosciutto/Pesci dlc while Stroheim and AU Diego were in the 10 "new" characters teasers.

i really think there should be some kind of program/app that gives rollback to games that don't have it, maybe by playing "locally" (through something similar to parsec) and handling the netcode external to the game. idk if it'd be possible but the amount of games that competitive scenes could be saved with it would be AT LEAST 4

All star battle is my third favorite game of all time because it encapsulates everything that I love about jojo into one game. This game is the ultimate jojo reference. I always wanted a proper sequel to it, but sadly, I just didn't see it happening. So when it got announced that the game is getting remastered with new characters and stages, then it basically became the sequel that I always wanted.

someone probably already told you this but Prosciutto is like a suuuuuuper popular character in Japan for whatever reason which is probably why he was added, like the amount of merch and stuff there is of him is actually insane considering he's just a minor villain
