Bryan Lee O'Malley has teamed up with Netflix to create a new Scott Pilgrim Adaptation. The Scott Pilgrim Anime - and it looks insane. What we know thus far is all the movie cast roles are returning and Masaaki Yuasa's studio Science Saru will be animating it. Even Edgar Wright is returning as a producer. So Let me emphasize my excitement- in the scott pilgrim anime.

Scott actually improves in the comic. Gets a job, moves out, and confronts those he’s wronged. It is basically a story about how it’s not too late to change and how you’ll do anything for love

Um, he was FORCED to move out and out of necessity had to get a job. Scott's mostly a shithead in both versions but ends up a better person in the comics due to the last few chapters.

@@guilty6427 Being forced to move out of your parents house and taking initiative to move out on your own are two different things. Not what happened but still a linear comparison. Wallace gave Scott many many fucking hints and it took outright telling him "find another place to live" for Scott to get the memo.

@@youssefbencheikh8637I highly doubt people like Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, and Brie Larson are so hard up for money that they feel the need to act in a smaller animated show from Netflix. I highly doubt Chris and Brie in particular will make even a quarter of what they do in one of their MCU roles. From what I can tell people just love working with Edgar. In fact it would probably be a breath of fresh air compared to what they deal with at Disney.

Super pumped, my biggest hope is that O'Malley's original artstyle is faithfully replicated. I think the classic visual style is one of the most anticipated parts of the show for a lot of fans

I'm 50/50 for a replicate art style and also an anime art style too! I've actually made an SP animation in the art style and think I'll do a few more before the anime comes out!

I don’t like defending Netflix, but as far as I’m aware they mostly just throw money around and are actually pretty hands-off with the projects. Awful Netflix projects are more often than not the product of too little, rather than too much, executive meddling in the creative process.

We don't know the episode count yet, but if it's 10 20min episodes I think so yeah. The scott pilgrim movie was under 2hrs (1hr50min) which would be just 5 1/2 episodes. They cut out a lot but not THAT much so I think it's doable.

@@HidinginPublic The movie is a pretty faithful adaptation of the first three volumes with a new ending tacked on. So, the series would need to be slightly less than 2x the movie’s runtime to adapt the entire story without feeling rushed. 10 25-minute episodes is almost exactly on the mark, actually.

i’m so happy the next Science SARU project is pretty much guaranteed to be fantastic. i am a fan of the studio and their last anime, Yurei Deco, really disappointed me. this is going to be phenomenal and i hope it turns everyone on to the spectacle and flavor of Science SARU.

The anime announcment made me start re reading the comic for the first time in years i hope the show adapts the parts that were cut out or condensed for the movies run time It really says something about Edgar Wright as a person that all these actors from the original were willing to come back over a decade after the original to voice act in the anime remake

The show is being produced at Science Saru, but I haven't seen anything indicating that Yuasa is involved. Abel Góngora will be directing, but I don't think we've heard much about the actual studio staff outside of that

5:30 It's funny that he brings up the topic of that song. For those who aren't aware, the song he's referring to is called "Scott Pilgrim Ruined A Whole Generation Of Women" by NegativeXP. What a lot of people don't realize however, is that the song is supposed to be satirical. It's not meant to be taken seriously. If you listen to certain sections of the song, you can hear the vocalists laughing whilst singing the lyrics.

This is going to be basically my first introduction to scott pilgrim, I'm incredibly excited. And especially I'm excited considering that i watched a couple of stuff from this studio before, and it was majestic, like 10/10 in the "animation" sphere. So unique yet beautiful. AND MUSIC!!! I don't know anything about Scott Pilgrim and looking at the comic artstyle, i feel like it's... miles apart from Masaaki Yuasa 's usual aesthetics, like, the thick lines and the squashed characters, but the story itself feels his style, so I feel excited to see how it's gonna come together.

I'm worried they might change some things to make it suit modern audiences more. There are a lot of things that don't jive with modern sensibilities in the original comics, I wouldn't like them to change them too much.

i screamed when i saw the update of it! scott pilgrim vs the world is a big part of my childhood that i Remember as i bought every book and rewatched the movie around 10 years old. now as an adult who sadly lost all the books that i want to collect again. i cant wait to experience this wonderful passion project that was a big part of my personality growing up from love to comics/books and films

I'm literally crying (FOR REAL I HAVE TEARS RUNNING DOWN WHILE WRITING THIS) while watching this because the comic will finally get the TV adaptation it deserves. I loved the movie but it glorified so much terrible shit and just was rushed in general. I am a huge fan of scott pilgrim and Ive read it and watched the movie countless times. I'm so so so happy it's finally getting this.
