Great video! I agree whole heartedly! I’m a guy, 21, and I get the best reactions from women around my age when I wear unisex scents. You should just wear what you like at the end of the day. It makes it even better to get compliments on fragrances that you actually love. Keep up the great content!
The first second you said that, I was seriously confused. Then I actually thought about it. That makes so much sense. Unisex makes so much sense because if I was a girl, I’d feel more comfortable with something familiar to me and not so polarizing. Wow. Very interesting take and I can totally see why you would say that.
Good points Melissa. Food for thought as I reflect on my overall butched out aesthetic. I was late to the party with unisex flavors and have grown to love them and ironically women do as well.
Fragrances used to be unisex. I’ve always been comfortable wearing feminine perfumes. There was a time when I would wear women’s Curve from Wal-Mart. These days, I would love to wear some Chanel. You’re so spot on and about the guys that try too hard to be “masculine”; their game is weak af.
Melissa, thank you for sharing your perspective on what female noses enjoy smelling on others, and themselves. My two cents is this: Perfumery, at least higher end niche/indie fragrances, are, by default *meant* to be unisex, though some do tend to lean more feminine or more masculine. At the end of the day, they're *still* unisex. And that's fine with me that perfumery is *designed* to be unisex. By the way, my scent of the day will be Initio's Side Effect. Yesterday's scent was Oud for Greatness.
There’s a time/place/situation for fragrances - wearing CDNMI to a bbq in the summer in shorts and flip flops won’t work, no matter how well you carry yourself
Tom Ford Black Orchid is a unisex fragrance and I have received more compliments with it than anything else. BR540 is also unisex, but doesn't get as many compliments, probably because it's a little less pungent and feminine. I tried layering them, creating an entirely new twist on each fragrance, and they work well together. Some of the BEST niche fragrances right now are unisex, so it's the way of the future.
The ending really reminded me of the Hodgetwins, they would always sign off their videos by saying "At the end of the day, it's just advice, you can do whatever the fuck you wanna do!". I really enjoy your videos and it's honestly a take I haven't heard before but it totally makes sense. Keep up the good work! Definitely gonna try out a lot of the frags you've recommended.
Honestly I wear Feve D./YSL Caban as my favorite scents to wear and man I get so many compliments from men/women. I love these scents because it’s not too masculine or not too girly.
Great video...This was needed as I guy I'm into unisex scents and you're right it takes that confidence to pull it off and I feel I have that. Plus I've seen how unisex fragrances to pull the ladies in but as well you do gotta be well put together in order to pull in the ladies but I feel your message that you are trying to convey and applaud 👏🏾 it. Great video!!
I get what you're saying, Melissa. I think women and men gravitate towards scents that are familiar and inviting to them, hence the appeal of a unisex fragrance.
I hate to admit it but what you described matches my experiences. I pulled way harder with rochas man and issey summer than I do with aventus and sauvage EDT.
Goddamn. This logic in fragrance is a game changer.. I always thought that frag-like Fahrenheit were the extreme panty droppers but in fact your reason makes sense (more in fact I just crave for my night intimate moment to put my Dior Homme Intense, which totally leans Unisex) Regards from Italy! 🇮🇹
This is a good video, and useful as a point of view. One issue I would say is some nuance missing. 1) women's preferences change over a month. But this is probably applicable for a chunk of the month or women on the pill. 2) It depends on someone being congruent with the scent. A guy who is average, this would apply. If a guy come scross as extremely masculine in every other way will likely be appealing to women who look for a neiche. A heavily tattooed biker, who has a certain demeanour will likely appeal to a certain kind of woman. This sounds like advice to the majority, which is why there will be some who will be convinced this must be wrong.
One my first fragrance i used to love wearing was PI by Givenchy. Some say it is a unisex fragrance and could see both sexes rocking it. I still have a I still have my second bottle I bought 7 years ago, almost all gone, and will buy my third soon because I still love it.
Melissa: New to your vids so maybe I've missed this, but I am curious about your views on: 1.) Bulgari Man in Black 2.) Gucci Guilty Absolut 3.) Bottega Veneta Pour Homme EDT 4.) YSL L'Homme Intense 5.) Dior Homme 2020 Especially curious because: (2) seems like the ultimate bad boy frag (my lady goes nuts over it, but...as far as I know, she's the only woman on earth who does); (3) rarely gets reviewed but seems unique; (4) strikes me as a very underrated, fairly unisex, very inviting sort of frag; (5) seems to have been unfairly criticized by nerdy iris lovers (since the old version had iris, but this one doesn't). I myself think Dior Homme 2020 EDT is rock solid, but curious about your thoughts.
Enjoy the video!! My cologne game is good but I never had an unisex fragrance. What would you advise for someone over 50? And for the record... I dont look 50!🤣🤣 Thanks!!
I Really Appreciate you giving guys Real Game. I hope there listening. The fragrance alone is Not enough! You have to have some type of Swag or Confidence to pull off unisex fragrances. I Really Appreciate your content keep it up.
Do you (and hopefully your gf via video but hey, no pressure lol) have any specific advice for those of us who are high femme and commonly mistaken even by other lesbians/queer community members as "straight"? (I love this scent...but I'm low key looking at my Love Don't Be Shy intense sideways now lol)
Amazing video! you're really putting out the best no BS content in fragtube right now. Keep going! As a guy, to me, masculine fragrances just smell cliche, boring, and like you're trying too hard. I'd rather wear something slightly feminine leaning and let my confidence and charisma do the heavy lifting.
whats crazy is that i went to a bar and my buddy chatted up a girl and before i got to her friend and her attn, she turned to her friend and said, 'wow someones cologne smells really good'. i probably sprayed about 7 sprays of br540 3 hours prior.. i told her i borrowed it from my sisters drawer and that it was unisex and she was kinda bothers by that. she said 'unisex cologne on a a man???' then walked away lmao so she liked the smell of it, but not the idea of a man wearing a unisex frag.or maybe she just used that as an excuse to reject the 20th guy hitting on her that night i guess lol
Absolutely not. I'm not attracted to unisex scents on men. At all. Neither is any woman I know. That said, I have found men are super attracted to the unisex scents on US
Your opinion is valid but the amount of women who aren’t attracted to unisex scents is disproportionately smaller than the amount that are. And like I said in the video I’m talking about the younger demographic (20s 30s)
