I'm 67 now and old spice was always my go to aftershave and shave cream untill the stupid policy of the companies decidid to change the formula. I also used the other two versions Burley and Lime. My god how i miss my 70's and 80's. Those were good days in every way. I don't think the world changes for better. Thank you for your vids Texan.👍

Great shave Bary. I wish I could share stories like this about my dad, but unfortunately my parents were never together like that. I only saw my dad every few months growing up, and my step dad was never really involved with me enough to give me core memories like you have. I enjoy hearing about them though, and still enjoy the series! Love old spice myself, and use it quite often.

Thank you as always Jake! Things weren't always great at our house at times as well and I might get into that in this series before its over. I love it when that viewers like you still enjoy this series though. Just sitting around swapping stories about life doesn't happen much any more. I am happy to find out people still like to hear them though!

Thanks for the funny Dad stories, my own Dad always did a full face shave, don't remember ever seeing him with a beard nor goaty nor moo. When it came to an argument with Dad, his final answer was normally "don't do as I do, just do as I say" ... end of argument.👌🤠

Old Spice was my Dad's cologne and mug soap and I'm sure he had an Old Spice brush, I actually still have Dad's Shulton EDC bottle (half full), probably 40+ years old and I have his Old Spice mug which sits on the vanity bench in the bathroom as a reminder of my Dad (he passed nearly 9 years ago at a good age of 91). The SuperSpeed you used today was similar to the one my Dad used and coincidentally your X4 is my birth date code (4th quarter 1952). Treet Platinums are a reliable blade for me as well. Beautiful brush as well. Take care brother👌🤠👌

You know we talk about heirloom razors and brushes handed down in this community. I think Old Spice products are just as memorable and handed down just as much as razors and other items. It is so awesome how a scent unlocks so many memories, and when you can wrap that up in your other senses when when shaving....its almost magical the memories that flow. Thank you for the wonderful comment! I hope you stay for the next episode!

Before diving headfirst into the world of wet shaving, I buzzed my head with WAHL Hair Clippers for about 20 years. My niece and nephew are now 21 and 19. Early on, they liked rubbing my head afterwards for the tennis ball or Brillo pad feel. But as my niece got to be about 10 or so, she started hating it when I'd shave it. Her Mom and I have pics and videos of her literally sobbing and shriveling down the hallway wall after I'd do it. And, of course, her brother followed suit. For the past few years, I'd usually wait until she left to go back to college and shave as soon as she left... and not shave the week of her birthday, since she was typically home during a break around that time. I haven't gotten good at getting down to the "chrome dome" look yet, but I had just about finished a shave when she walked into the house after this school year ended. She wouldn't even look at me. LOL.

I always bowl lather. I then paint the lather on my face. Lately I’ve been dipping my brush tips in water and working it onto my face. I find if I end up with a “wet lather” I get better glide. I remember my Dad using Old Spice in the old glass bottle. My Dad would often go 3 days or so without shaving and as a kid I would beg him to give me a “whisker burn”. My Dad grew up in northern Quebec in the 30’s and he would tell fascinating stories about his childhood. There was no TV and Internet so you had to invent your own fun. During WWII, my Dad heard a loud rumbling sound and saw the outline of a large transport plane. The plane landed in a large open field during the winter. My Dad took the day off school and strapped on his skis and made his way to the plane. It was a US military plane that somehow had not navigated correctly and ended up in this field. The huge plane was eventually taken apart and shipped by rail back to the USA to be reassembled after undergoing repairs. The town my Dad grew up in was called “Arvida” which was named after Arthur Vining Davis (first 2 letters of each name) who was the CEO of Alcoa. Alcoa had a large aluminum smelter in Quebec because Quebec has huge hydroelectric dams which are instrumental in making aluminum. It was an important metal during the war effort. So my Dad grew up for part of his childhood in a planned company town. My Dad has an old photo taken with my Grandfather and Uncle standing next to a large hydroelectric station.

The razor I inherited from my grandfather was a 1940’s style Gillette. I shaved with it for quite a while, but have since set it aside to pass on to one of my nephews, when they’re old enough to look after it. As for my Dad he always had a mustache, but never a beard. He always said his beard is too patchy to look decent. I think I’ve only seen him clean shaven once or twice.

I only have daughters. But luckily my youngest has taken an interest in wet shaving. So I do get to experience some of the "handing down" traditions. Down side is, she steals my soaps and scents that she loves LOL. Thank you for the wonderful comment about your heirloom razor. Some of my favorite stories to hear is about Fathers and Grandfathers passing down traditions. I bet that was an experience the first time you saw your father clean shaven! I appreciate your view and comment!
