6th Doctors blue coat is fantastic, shame it was never shown on the tv show and only on Big Finish and some comics/books. Why they even went with his awful coat of many colours in the first place still annoys me, the blue coat would have looked so much better
I like the coat. It's a horrible affront to fashion and an absolute assault on the eyes, you can just tell that he's only wearing that awful thing not because he likes it but simply just to spite you, to let you know as loudly as he can without saying it that he's better than you and that there is nothing you can do about it. Really jives with 6's condescending attitude. The blue one definitely fits him quite nicely and looks way better, but I think it has a lot less character.
@@Crrrow You're not that far off, it did have to do with special effects after a fashion -- it was because when BFP did a webcast of one of the audio dramas, the animators flat-out told them that the Doctor's usual jacket would be borderline impossible to animate consistently and they requested to be allowed to do a jacket of one hue, which would be easier for them to realize in animation. IIRC, the BBC usually used yellow for their CSO/Chromakey effects.
As someone who hasn’t listen to much big finish, I have a question about these River Song stories. If she meets past incarnations of the doctor, even if she wipes in their memory doesn’t that create a pothole because in silence of the library she said that he was the youngest she had ever seen him.
Also technically speaking, river said a couple of things in silence in the library that don’t make complete sense with the context of what later happened. For example, she gave the impression she had no idea the singing towers would be the last time she saw him, and yet when we see them go there she fully knows.
I for one would be happy if all of Colins Baker's stories (except The Twin Dilemma) used CGI to change Colin's coats to only shades of blue. This is one part of canon I would happily change. I bet his stories would be rewatched. We could even have a 5 minute mini story where he explains the change. Whether we like it or not, as humans we are very sensitive to visuals and the multicoloured coat was a disaster and did have a negative impact for number six. What I have never understood is why they didn't change it for Trial of a Timelord as by that stage it was obvious to all that it was a whopping big mistake.
While i do like the 6th doctor's outfit (i mean, the 4th doctor had a multicolored scarf and people are fine with that.), it would be nice to have the choice to have his outfit CGI-ed to blue.
