We are all different shades of grey (no 50 shades of gray pun intended). Some of us are more towards the white side of grey and others more towards the black side. But nu human is truly white or black. So yeah, unlike some villains and/or heroes because well, the writer can just make them as perfect (ly white or black) as they want them to be. And of course Tony Soprano is fictional, so he could have been a purely black/evil character, but this is not that kind of show and all the characters are created by David Chase to be 'realistic' and I think he succeeded in that pretty great.
