In watching some of these last performances, they knew Jimmy wasn’t going to stop performing, and they were really setting him up for future successes. Extremely classy.
Thank you. No other country singers knew just how treasured old memories are to little old ladies like me. When you reach your eighties it's pretty much All you have left . Thanks so much for realizing that.
I am the biggest Lew DeWitt fan you will ever meet and I freely admit Jimmy is a very talented singer & song writer. I suspect Lew would agree with me, he is the one that found Jimmy after all.
Love the Statler Brother's!!!!! Next the Oak Ridge Boys...The two groups brought a lot of cheerful music that never get tired of listening to!!May the Great Men that have left us and went to Heaven!! Their Music will never be for gotten!!!!! Lives on For ever!!!!
With the early passing of Lew Dewitt and recently of the unrivalled bass singer Harold Reid we will never see the likes of a group such as the Statler Brothers. RIP Lew and Harold! Thanks for the wonderfully harmonised singing. We shall never forget you
Many a great group of singers have graced stages around the world before multitudes of fans. Without question, two of those great groups were The Statler Brothers and The Platters. Thank you, from an appreciative fan!
The Platters would be so honored...great version of all.. These guys can sing anything and loved every minute of it!!! The very best group ever...❤ 4:17
The unrivaled Statler Brothers. Always in unbelivable harmonies. Those were the times. RIP Harold Reid and Lew DeWitt. Thank you for the great music you left. / CD
Jimmy Fortune completely nailed the ending! Tony Williams and the Platters would have been so proud of this performance. I miss this group so much...and RIP Lew and Harold!
Love the Statler Brothers. Saw them twice in concert. The Oak Ridge Boys are great, that relatively new group Home Free is very good, but the Statler Brothers are the best. I saw them when Lew was still with them. Words cannot describe what it was like to hear them in person.
They were my mothers favorite group quite a few years ago . I have just found this on my phone - After listening to this today I have to agree with her ! They are terrific!
I like how after the song seemed to be done, they let Jimmy turn it into something to show off on. Don was like: "If it'll get a good audience reaction, then go for it."
This could be easily modified to be a Christian song -- the feeling of the lost person, the religious lost member of a Church, pretending that God's still around in his actions. Or pretending that good works are found!
About a month ago we saw Jimmie and Harold and Don's sons, Will and Langdon a.k.a "Wilson Fairchild" in a concert. The three of them did several Statler's songs. Jimmie is still a great performer and Will and Langdon are filling their father's shoes very well!!!! Wilson Fairchild are so awesome. They are funny as heck and they are great entertainers. Great guys! And Brotherly Love OMG they are unbelievably excellent!!! Their harmonies amaze me. Definatly worth checking them out...
