Great video! Just grabbed a ton of Stormcast (most the 1st edition models because I like how they look) and Im excited to get everything built and get playing! Its definitely interesting hearing your takes on things and I cant wait to figure out what works for me and I enjoy. I do need some more heroes though just because I like heroes. Looks like most of them arent great but thats fine. Even managed to get 3 Stardrakes. I remember them eating my Bullgors in 1st ed so while they probably arent as solid in comparison now they should be fun to use.
Great video as always. I will say, don’t despair too hard over the potential fate of the Battlemage. We know for a fact that they’ll still be in the new book since it’s not one of the models GW has said is leaving the CoS range. So you’ll still be able to ally one in. That said, it’s safe to say we can expect some changes to their warscroll. I don’t expect them to keep the ability to get a +1 to cast if the battle is taking place in their ‘home’ realm, but hopefully they’ll still be able to choose from a list of spells like before. And we’re also getting a new foot wizard, the Alchemite Warforger. With any luck, he’ll play nicely as an ally.
That's certainly an interesting idea to shut down Magical Dominance after making an opponent go first. They may have other Battle Tactics available, especially armies with easy faction BTs (there are many of those right now). I'm not sure that's worth Bastians 300p right now, but it's a nice trick that many opponents will not expect Here's hoping Bastian gets cheaper in the next Battlescroll update!

So, the good units that have been good all edition are still good*, we have a new rotation in/out of some seasonal ones, and overall its the same underlying game -- Roughly quoting Daniel (I think) from several videos ago in reference to this video *: Terms and conditions apply -- Longstrikes indirectly nerfed with new Look Out, Sir rules while Dracolines indirectly buffed with new coherency rules I havent had any luck with the wizard battalion personally My army is pretty similar to last season (Lord Arcanum or Lord Relictor general that I rotate every so many games, Castellant, 2x Incantor, fill the rest fulminators, liberators, and longstrikes -- occasional substitute block of protectors in) I have tried the wizard hunting battalion with a grandhammers list and that worked pretty well At some point I may bring out Hammer & Bolter again to see if it still works this season

To add insult to injury re: Pioneers of the Realms, only 3 of the 12 maps this season even *have* objectives wholly within enemy territory in the first place!
Yeah its just Power Flux, Limited Resources, and Icefields... At least those are likely to be seen in tournaments! Hopefully the new Cities battletome gives us some interesting ally/coalition options
Playing a 1000 point game with my friends ogres, took a knight arcanum with merciless blizzard and the malevolent marble (soul ball that does d3 in an AoE). KA was locus, and was the MVP wiping out two squads of ogres by herself (with Primal dice). I know this is a competitive review, but 100 points for 4D6 mortals plus extra seems great. (Though let me know if I've missed something?)
Knight-Arcanum is nice if you want a cheap 100p STORMCAST WIZARD, but for 20p more you can use a Knight-Incantor and do the same thing but also have a once per game ability to automatically unbind

A: No. When the spell is cast, units within 3" of the objective or terrain feature that was picked are affected by the spell for its duration. No other units are affected by the spell. Note that affected units are affected for the spell’s duration even if they move more than 3" away from the objective or terrain feature that was picked." Comet Trail has the same wording!

That's something we have discussed using as an ally in other Order armies, like Lumineth or Daughters of Khaine... I think Cities will want to use Cavaliers instead though!
He's not unplayably bad, just feels a bit overpriced when compared to something like the Stormcoven also being a 2 spell WIZARD but with a very good warscroll spell, or even just a standard Tauralon thats quite a bit cheaper
I ran Questor Soulsworn during some games, 2x6 with imparatant and i found them to die fast against all sorts of meele mortal return units sutch as zombies. So the 7'' deep strike might be a trap and you are better off having them on board and gaining mystic shield or/and castellant. Agree on tempestors, sutch a board presence and a nice damage output even if they don't charge. I considered adding 2 more :) Played with 3 chariots this weekend and i think they where great :) would probably be enough with 2 but they are fast, durable, pin opponents and they are just fine to retreat for "bait and trap" battletactic if you have a chance on the doubble. Chariots dogs could use damage 2 :D I would also be careful on reinforcing units in general, merciless blizzard can just take away more points if they are all placed in the same unit. I played against SoB and on one turn did 16 mortals to a mega-gargant that the tempestors could finish and the following turn kragnos failed his 3d6 spellignore and took 14 mortal wounds making him an easy picking aswell. And i did not have to use teleport to get into range, it was just some easy positioning behind lots of screens. Lord-relictors own healing prayer is underestimated i think. With armies like seraphons plinking some wounds every round, just being able to heal and use heroic recovery is super nice. Interesting with 100p knight relictor... Where is the FAQ for the Tauralon showing its a "pulse" ? :D Love the tir list :D
7" Scions is one way to use Questors, but certainly not the only way. Giving them buffs before teleporting is also a great use Merciless Blizzard seems better than we thought at the time of recording. It is a high impact spell that you must respect because it can swing games so drastically. @@TheStormkeep another question regarding gryph hound. Since core rule 3.1 states that all units set up after the game starts are counted as summons. Does that mean gryph hounds warning cry trigger on for example Flesh eater courts, muster for battle heroic action?
Even if the heroic action returns models, and not units. I can see some wording there that might cause trouble. The call for arms is quite obviously eligible.
Knight-Arcanum is still a really poor warscroll, and will only be used when you need to squeeze 20p out of a list by downgrading from a Knight-Incantor. That is a bad niche, but it is enough to earn her a C Tier ranking. The changes to Cities of Sigmar units don't change that niche, since we can always take a Knight-Zephyros with Arcane Tome for 100p if we need a 1 spell WIZARD that cannot learn any spells.
Hmm it's an interesting proposition The annihilator/questor drop playstyle still has some inherent problems, and the cost of that package (Imperatant + 1-2 Grandhammers + Questors) is quite high. It certainly looks more appealing now that Wildform is gone!
Would you consider Vanguard-Hunters better screen/scorers better than Vanquishers if their Battleline/Redeemer status were not relevant? Like a Knights Excelsior list where your order is Unleash Thy Hatred. That is a situation where I think a couple squads of these guys could be helpful to screen/move around for objectives and plans.
Yeah Vanguard-Hunters are a good pick in the right list. They're still not a REDEEMER so they won't work with Call for Aid (holy command) and they can't score the REDEEMER Battle Tactic (that one is hardly ever scored) but their teleport ability is useful for scoring Battle Tactics like Intimidate the Invaders and Surround and Destroy whenever they don't need to be a screen.
I find these videos are *fantastic* as background while painting. I'm currently working on some Vanguard-Hunters. Eager to see what the gang thinks of them, I think they'll be cheap effective "objective stealers" even if maybe they don't kill much.
