Caleb is a great guest! I am stoked for this tier list update. I’ve been painting my Seraphon for like 5 months now and I am almost ready to play my first game with them. This info is much appreciated.
Overall I largely agree with the ratings. I do think however the battle tactics and grand strategies ratings were more geared towards starborne. Coalesced is basically a separate army so you likely have two ratings for each one: a starborne and a coalesced. Magical mayhem in coalesced is not A tier unless you take Kroak and not everyone does that, for example.
I think Coalesced needs to lean into doing some damage with spells this season, because otherwise they can quickly run out of viable battle tactics. Even Merciless Blizzard and an Endless Spell or two is enough!
@@TheStormkeep I’ve played a lot of games with coalesced (KC, not Thunderlizard) and almost never not been able to pick a viable battle tactic. The only magical one I do is dominance, have my starseer back enough to cast early, uninterrupted. But board edge, out of territory, saurus survive, take objective with skink and charge hero/battleline have all be doable. You only need 5 after all. I’ve not once cast an endless spell or killed anything with magic. That doesn’t even include the more situational kill a monster with a monster or kill the thing that killed your general. I think with the right units coalesced are ok. But that’s my overall experience of coalesced… they’re ok. Not broken, not bad! 😆
I’m regards to Chronomantic Cogs… can you actually stack -2 to hit? Or did you mean -1 from LoS is balanced out by AOA and then the -1 from Cogs makes your spell caster still -1 to hit?
Your said a few times that units can hit on 1’s with the Hoarfrost buff, but isn't that inaccurate since a 1 will always fail a hit roll? Surely this doesn't mean you're automatically hitting and going straight to a wound roll, right? Or have i completely misunderstood this rule?
When hitting on a 1+ characteristic, unmodified 1s will still fail. You are effectively trying to roll 2+ to hit. It is useful to have a 1+ characteristic because it negates -1 Hit effects!
Huanchi Dartpipers are the ones I wanna play! They look sooo good! Why are they not top tier? Get rind of normal Skinks and give me chameleon boys´n´girls only!
Before the Battlescroll changed the rules on unit coherency, units of 6 would frequently struggle to get all models in combat because every model had to be within 1" or 2 or more models in the unit... with large cavalry bases it was very difficult to have more than 4 within range of melee weapons
you guys getting there! this table is closser to my real one ( in my opinnion ). some units arent even cloose tho. troglodon is a D tier or even lower, almost 300 for squishy monster that dont do any dmg, only 1 cast without bonus, really situational/bad spell, and the aura only work in combat and too small. his cost is around 200. terrawings are way higher, are our cheapest and fastest unit, not great but has an use for 1 unit. agradons are lower, B tier or so, still too slow for a cavalry, armor should be 3+ too, and dmg too low still. keep having totally useless ability. skinks would be clooser to B tier or even C, way too pricy for a unit that dont do any dmg, per example new cities corsairs has exactly same scroll but they do x3 skinks dmg in ranged, or still much higher in melee mode for same points, skinks need an extra shot and get to 80p
