In Hartford, Wisconsin, the community theatre was the cornerstone of the community, anyone who was anyone was in it. Star was Jessica Blodgett, a superb singer, musician, and activist. After a pool party, Jessica seemed to be upset after someone said something. The next day should never got out of bed.

Melissa is so impressive. A big guy, with a knife, in a surprise attack, and she got him to the point where he felt he had to ask her permission to leave. She saved her own life AND made him feel like the weak little coward he is. Legendary shit.

I have 4 children, 3 are daughters. When they’re first born, you worry about things like SIDS, abductions, or illness. As teens, you worry about them driving and making bad decisions. Then they hit 18. They’ve survived, you survived, and you think “I can breath now. We’ve made it.” And then, for some asshole who thinks he has a right to end that life and then deny he did it and tell her parents he loved them? This one broke my heart.

Fair enough, but a comment like "I just got home for lunch" makes it sound like she's trying to establish an unsolicited timeline to ensure everyone knows she "wasn't there" because, after all, she "just got home for lunch". I swear I JUST got here!!!! With all the information emergency operators really need straight away, informing them of your itinerary is something you can pocket until the detectives arrive. That said, obviously you're right!, and it's horrible to hear that call through the lens of knowing the outcome. I'm clearly more cynical than you are lol, and as a mother you can feel that pain in a special way. I'm a father so I can imagine it, too, but I believe moms have a special connection resulting from growing and carrying the kid around for 9 months and then feeding it, plus the cerebral connection hardwired into the brain during the first few years of life by all of the physical contact they share with the baby (even if the mom hates the kid, kills it, rapes it, whatevers it; there is a deeper, visceral, primal connection there...imo, of course). Most serial killers emphasize the importance of that bond due to the fact many of them didn't get that contact in the first 3-5 years of their lives.

I brought some of my teen boys to volunteer and Buck came to speak with them about the importance of accountability between young men and how each person has the potential to help instead of hurt one another. This one made me so upset. To go into someone's home while they are (supposedly) "safe" and proceed to do harm to them is just atrocious. 😢 Thanks for that little wink at the end, Mike. I feel like we needed something lighthearted after this one. 💖

The woman who would fought off the dude attacking with a knife- what a badass. Grabbed it by the blade and everything. That's what I hope my daughters grow up to be like because I'm not gonna be able to protect them forever.

PEOPLE, ENROLL YOUR GIRLS IN MATIAL ARTS TRANING at the youngest age the local dojo (or whatever flavor of m.a. you're choosing calls their school) will take them. Two young female friends of mine have that training, & it's protected them more than once. They exercise all the regular cautions that every young woman does, they don't advertise or show off their skills, but when they have no other options they can and have protected themselves and others. I only wish there had been options like that when I was a kid.

I don't understand! How do people go to bed at night knowing that all of their doors/windows are UNLOCKED?! Idk maybe it's bc I live and grew up my entire life on the Southside of Chicago, but I can't believe that people really go to bed with their doors unlocked! Baffles me!
