Where do I start on these so called 'other games' you ask?
Today, I'll show the perfect way to start by going through some of the strangest TF2 crossovers you'll ever see!

The creator of Upward's Spawn in BO3 Zombies said that he's working on making the entire map playable, but so far, he's got the BLU Spawn finished. Maybe in the future we'll be able to even have the objective of pushing the cart while under assault of entire zombie hordes.

I was summoned to this video to give a few of my thoughts. They're a bit unsorted, I'm mainly writing them as I watch this video. Prepare for a wall of text! Let's start with Overtime: The reason why I didn't 100% adhere to the TF2 lore is because that'd genuinely be boring and wouldn't exactly work very well in the context of an Undertale game. Overtime is mainly Undertale with a TF2 coat of paint, trying to see which TF2 characters could substitute for the TF2 ones. When there weren't any, I made new ones. Hence why there are two Medics, Sani, who's very timid, and Eli, who's pretty much TF2's Medic. There's a reason why the Medic that isn't like the one from TF2 lives a secluded life - he's not part of the universe, so to speak. Of course he's not violent, that's why he's not with the rest of the gang and does something else entirely after the game is over. I didn't "get the characters wrong", you're just trying to judge a character that's a polar opposite of Medic on purpose by how much he's like Medic. Of course it's not gonna work. You DO meet Medic later on, and in my opinion, he's far more like what you'd want from the character (though you hated that too). As for why they don't have the names from the comics - they hadn't even been released at that point :P Scout didn't have a name back then, so I named him after Scottjaw, who was THE Scout main to me back then. Also, that's not Agro, that's Ballooney. He quite literally states his name. I did however use that sprite for an interview I did with Agro later. I also couldn't really put JUST TF2 characters in the game, because again, there's not a lot to pull from. Unless you wanted to play a game where you only fight robots and uhhh I guess the director from that one comic. Maybe Bidwell? Most of the "main" TF2 characters have dedicated roles in the stories, but I couldn't really make you fight Saxton Hale constantly. I tried to introduce characters from some other TF2 media, like the mercs from Open Fortress, but that's it. These days, I'd probably have also included Agent Gunn and such. Wasn't a thing back then. So I just put whatever characters I liked back then in there. Is it disconnected? Absolutely. But Undertale's world is filled with random monsters, and I always thought most of the fun came from encountering new creatures and hearing what funny things they have to say. So I tried to emulate that. The character designs have been a common form of criticism I've heard over the years too. I get why people dislike them, they look disconnected as well, but that's precisely why *I* like them. They add personality to the game. I've seen other people's takes on the designs, and they look great, but they're not quite like "Undertale" to me. As for the maps, that's what I talked about at the start. Not a lot to pull from, since most TF2 maps are just a variation of "desert setting", "industrial setting" and "industrial desert setting". Of course there's snow maps and forest maps, but I can't all include those if the game takes place in the Badlands. Sani lives in Thundermountain, but you travel away from there eventually. Overall, your main criticism seems to be that the game doesn't do enough original things on its own and isn't connected enough to TF2, which I guess is fair. But that was never what I set out to do. I just wanted to see if I could put TF2 characters in Undertale and put a bit of a spin on it. That's what I succeeded in doing, even if you don't care for the "spin" I put on it. I guess you're just not a fan of why *I* like Undertale in the first place. You complain that it's a bunch of walking and talking to characters, when I thought that was UT's strongest point. So I recreated that. I didn't like the combat, so I didn't recreate that as faithfully. You didn't care for that, that's fine. But I make my games for me first and foremost, and then I hope other people enjoy them. A lot of people did enjoy Overtime, and that makes me happy. Certainly made me happy. tl;dr: you kind of approached this game from the wrong angle. You wanted a retelling of TF2's lore in Undertale's setting, when I set out to do the opposite. But I've heard your criticism, and the next time I'll make a TF2 x Undertale crossover, I'll keep it in mind :P I have to say though, you only got the neutral ending. Much like in Undertale, there's three routes to take. Maybe Midnight Mercenaries is more your cup of tea, as that's much closer to TF2 than it is to Hotline Miami. I'll post it as a reply to this one.

Onto Midnight Mercenaries, where you fall into the same trap again - you're expecting a retelling of TF2's story but in a different format. That's just not that interesting. If you want Team Fortress 2, then play the game, read the comics, watch the shorts. Just retelling that doesn't make for an engaging tale. It's just the same thing, but this time from a top-down perspective. This time at least, I told an original story that is only loosely based on Hotline Miami's plot beats with the TF2 characters in it. I don't want to be that type of malding creator who lashes out at critics, but you genuinely did not take a good enough look at the games. You claimed Ballooney was Agro earlier (even though he directly states he's not, he's literally just the Balloonicorn), and then you confuse the white-haired man from Midnight Mercenaries with Gray Mann, saying "it's never explained". Yes, it is explained. If you beat the game, he states he's Peter, which isn't a reference to me, but to Saint Peter, who guards Heaven's gates - he's letting you pass on. You can't skip all the dialogue and then complain it makes no sense. Of course it doesn't make sense if you ignore all the context. You did the same with two games in a row, and it's fine if you don't care about something and just want to get it over with, but that's not a faithful review then, is it? For the sake of you as a reviewer, you absolutely HAVE to take your time if you wanna judge something accurately. And if you don't want to do that, that's fine, but then disclose it and don't say, "I skipped all the story, the story made no sense." A lot of people have issues with the lore and story, and I'd like to explain why it is the way it is, but that'd take about as many words as I've already written in both of these comments :P But to summarize, it's a completely different take on Team Fortress 2's world, taking the characters and putting them in an entirely different scenario, universe even. Again, it's not just retelling TF2. There's not even RED and BLU, and especially not Gray Mann. It's asking what these mercs would be like if they were in a universe that wasn't zany enough to excuse their horrible actions. As for the gameplay being repetitive - that's a Hotline Miami thing. That's just how these games work, you're doing the same thing over and over and over and over again until it finally works. Same goes for games like Super Meatboy and such. If you don't like that, that's fine. But I do, and a lot of people do. I also know Scout's section is extremely difficult. I'm curious, which version of the game did you play? Because the earliest release builds were extremely difficult, and I ended up making them easier later on. The current version is the most well-rounded one, I even improved classes like Demo and Pyro. As for the battle itself, it's Hotline Miami condensed into its purest form. You're one man, against a hundred other men, trying to kill them over and over and over again. That's how I wanted to end the game and I don't think a giant boss battle against animals would have done it justice. Again, if you don't like that type of gameplay, that's cool. But that's what Hotline Miami is. It's completely fair too, they always spawn in the exact same pattern, and you have plenty of cover against hitscan enemies. The game will not screw you over by randomly changing the rules. You just have to git gud, as they say. Midnight Mercenaries was also in open beta for I believe 4-5 years? People were always able to play the games and give feedback on the difficulty of levels or gameplay mechanics. This was how I was hoping to balance the game, and I always encouraged people to give feedback. Not a lot of people gave feedback. Some did, like Kazer, whose criticism I used to change a lot of chunks of the game. I just couldn't afford to pay playtesters for a game that was bleeding money already, and I couldn't do anything if barely anyone even told me what they thought was good or bad about the game. I gotta say something about both games though: they're not the originals. Of course they're not. I made Overtime almost entirely on my own, all the gameplay and graphics were made from scratch. I didn't receive any outside help (for the most part) and I worked on it in my free time, as I was wrestling with university at the time. Same goes for Midnight Mercenaries, which I made over a much longer period of time (which explains why it's more coherent overall), and for which I did have an actual spriter making all the graphics (thanks, Pham

just read all this, really great response. Haven't played either game, at least not recently, so I can't exactly state my opinion on them. But man. Honestly. The Overtime section of this video made me feel REALLY uncomfortable. Maybe I'm just too sensitive, but I seriously don't like watchin' fan-works/passion projects get dunked.

I actually enjoyed overtime! The characters are sort of meant to be like the personalities of the tf2 mercs mixed with the personalities of the undertale characters, which is why they seem out of character lol

In defense of German Peter's writing: have you seen all of those SFMs that tell completely different stories with different mercenaries? Everyone likes Emesis Blue, where Medic and Soldier differ quite drastically from their original counterpart. Also it might be pretty hard to write large amount of dialogue using characters from funny shortfilms without starting to repeat same jokes like "lol these guys are psychos! Wow this guy drinks a lot!". Then again, maybe Overtime IS written badly? I watched let's play of the thing like 5 years ago... Or MAYBE RPGs with a lot of text just aren't your cup of tea in general, don't ya think so?

34:03 can someone please explain to this guy the difference between a crossover game and a crossover mod? I guess I'll do it myself: a crossover mod is literally importing something into something else. Since all the stuff you're adding is from the IP you're trying to cross-over, it's all about how faithfully you can adapt the TF2 assets into a different game engine. A crossover fangame, on the other hand, is something that attempts to recreate 2 different IPs and mix them together, usually with one IP defining the gameplay and general plot while the other IP adds characters and atmosphere. Since you're combining 2 games instead of importing stuff from one game into another, you can't be too faithful to any one IP or else fans of the other IP won't be able to enjoy it.

It feels so weird when I find TF2 and it's characters are so nostalgic without actually playing the game until this year. (My first exposure was seeing the characters through SFM FNAF/Undertale/Minecraft crossovers and animations. Even the standalone "Meet The" videos". The fact even other people probably discovered the game this way; shows how the characters, the world can really stand alone on their own and be appreciated by everyone even without playing the game.

As a tc2 player: -being friendly will get you banned from tc2 for a week, so be weary -tc2 isn’t actually playable on mobile, however there’s another game called era warfare which is just tf2 but shittier and also playable on mobile -everyone goes demoknight because it’s simpler than normal demo -the class limit is there because the game is more competitive

I think you might've enjoyed GermanPeter's stuff more if you took breaks and didn't play them in their entirety in one sitting. Also Peter just doesn't follow tf2 lore in his games. In the hotline miami one, the person interviewing the mercs is supposed to be saint peter, because the interviews happen after the end when the mercs are dead. Like seriously, pay attention to the story man. I'm kinda dissapointed you didn't talk gang garrison 2.

As far as I can tell for overtime. The reason why their personality are, as some would say [out of character] probably is because they attempted to place undertale and TF2 into a blender. *However take it with salt I have no idea what I'm talking about because 1. watching the tf2 under tail cross over compels me to try to make an actual good one. But I haven’t gone through every nook and cranny of the tf2 lore, nor do I have the skills required to make such a game.

The Dell fight in overtime is "oh you don't remember this attack? You die, oh you remember this attack? Good luck dodging it" the worst attack has you have to do basically frame perfect inputs to not send the platform into the the next fucking area code and not be unable to avoid the fucking attack and dyeing as a result (the the best part of the game is when you give the Demo enough beer to where is fucking swords don't even hit you anymore)

Dell's fight was intentionally designed to be as frustrating as possible. It's not unfair, there's no randomness involved whatsoever, and the version everyone plays is the EASIER one. Sans' fight was the ultimate test of your skills in Undertale. You got there because you WANTED to get there. So I turned that up a few notches. You know how hard Sans is, you know what to expect, so you get that, and MORE. You want a difficult battle? You get one that's harder than the original. And if you consider what you had to do to get there, you've got nobody to blame but yourself. It's an optional battle, it's part of the BAD ending, and grinding enemies is tedious and annoying, but you did it anyway.

you can’t play tc2 (roblox tf2) on mobile, computer only. So no it is not the first wave of tf2 mobile. That would be tetragonal fortress the other roblox tf2.

I'm surprised German Peter didn't make Heavy and Medic gay and instead made the known best friends gay. They got a bromance but legit wouldn't become a couple imo. They're the type of bros to do something gay and say "No homo" tho, I will admit.

Whether Heavy or Medic are gay is up for interpretation. It's there, just subtle and not directly stated unlike Soldier and Demo's romance. There's plot points I'd have to spoil, so I'd just say that there are certain moments between Medic and Heavy that hint at them being romantically interested in each other. I'd even argue the same goes for Sniper and Spy, but that's even more subtle.

TF2 Crossovers have always seemed like a strange case to me. I mean, TF2 is a game that has its own unique style, humor, and gameplay. It’s not easy to mix it with other games or genres without losing some of its charm. Yet, there are many examples of TF2 crossovers that have been made by fans or developers, and some of them are surprisingly good. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Collection: This is a racing game that features characters from various Sega franchises, as well as some guest characters from other games. For overtime,i think you are looking at it the wrong way,the game german peter made was clearly made more as an undertale game than a tf2 one,you can call it a reskin of sorts,the inconsistencies in random characters and objects appearing in the game,that is because tf2 is a fps game with less focus on having 100 characters,so he prob had to compromise by bringing refrences even though some were kinda out of pocket,but what you should consider is that if overtime was a fangame based more on tf2,we would have a class based fps which would use undertale characters as the mercineries and crank their personalities to 11 to make them alot more violent,and that is actually the same thing doen in over time but reversed,we have tf2 characters as the major undertale characters but their personalities have been brought down to match the lightheartedness of undertale so the genocide route doesnt become the canon ending although that would be interesting.All i am saying is that all the time you focused your criticism for overtime as compared to tf2 rather than undertale and you even discouraged the game to have the characters act like the undertale ones,and the character designs were obviously compromised to represent a bit of both the tf2 characters and undertale ones like the overtime spu,which was given the body shape of muffet(the character overtime spy was based on) and given the looks of real spy

I came to this video expecting to hear about Max's severed head and other crossover cosmetics but got something much more. One of the wildest videos ever It felt like an absolute roller coster rollercoaster through the internet and Tf2, having shits a giggle through it all And the ending.
