In this video, we're going to talk about some really interesting benefits of sunlight that go beyond just vitamin D.
When the sun hits your skin, certain chemical reactions occur that generate vitamin D from the cholesterol in your skin. You actually need cholesterol to make vitamin D.
Health benefits of sunlight that go beyond vitamin D:
1. When the sun hits your skin and retinas, it can increase serotonin, which can potentially affect your mood.
2. The sun can reduce melatonin. Melatonin helps you sleep.
3. The heat and humidity from the sun may have the power to decrease viral loads.
4. UV has antibacterial effects.
5. The sun can increase resistance to infection.
6. The infrared wavelength of the sun can be great for wound healing and decreasing pain.

Yes! The sun is needed to sustain life! Look at the animals when it's a beautiful day outside. The birds are chirping, the bees are buzzing around, etc. It doesn't cause cancer either. The sunscreens themselves with the toxic ingredients cause cancer. The only thing the sun does with too much exposure is burn. For the fair skinned like myself, and like my Dad told me when I was working with him back in the day, when I was younger, he said "Do it gradually a little every day, then increase it the more you get your skin conditioned to it" Now I tan instead of burn. So go outside, and enjoy the day with the beautiful sunshine that God gave us.

The dark wintertime can be challenging, but we try to make it as cosy as possible, with candles and a fireplace. Of course, sun benefits are way beyond just vitamin D, that's why it's very good also to take sun in winter (when sun is not useful for vitamin D) as much as we can, for the other benefits.

I spend most of the day outside the van I live out of in a very peaceful place. Its what I have needed for so long. The Sun is an awesome healer! My allergies have been so bad living in high elevation all Summer. Now in very low elevation it has helped. Possibly you can do a video on allergies if you haven't already

How much time in the sun should we be getting for these benefits ? What about UV rays causing skin aging?
@chasefancy3092
@chasefancy3092 2 года назад
Indubitably, the essence and richness of the sun are a mitigating factor in preventing potential harmful viruses from entering the body. It should also be noted the combination of sun & salt water will add further purification. Citizens of states , such as, California & Florida can capitalize being blessed with both. If you can afford a pool ensure it is composed of salt water.

my question is how should people go about getting all the benefits of the sun but without getting sun damage and sun burn which can lead to skin cancer. Since sunscreen I assume would block all the benefits of the sun.

How about the benefits of "sunning"? That is facing/looking at the sun (with your eyes closed of course) for a few minutes. This stimulates the pineal gland directly and has great mood and other benefits, as the pineal gland is made up of rods and cones like your eyes contain, but is buried in your head.

Hey Dr Berg, from down here in Atlanta Ga! Would you please do a video on vaccination? I know there will be a vaccine for COVID coming at some point and I'd like information to help me decide whether I should have my family do this.
