In this video we discuss why the Fantasy Era of Lego Castle saved the theme in the long run. Thanks for watching!!! Leave your thoughts in the Comments!
This era was so good. Although I like the 2 faction castle themes like kingdoms the fantasy element and having many different types of monsters and dwarves is really cool
I like the two faction themes, but there was something about getting four different factions with complete storylines that made this theme that much more memorable!
For sure, I think if Lego brought back an actual Castle theme they’d bring in a lot of money as well. I hope Lego gives us a theme so we don’t have to spend $200+ on a castle set every time
With the Dungeons & Dragons themed set coming out, this will give Lego collectors the PERFECT opportunity to break out past fantasy themed Lego stuff and use them. That is, until Hasbro creates more of their own D&D themed minifigs and setting builds to add alongside the new one coming
Very cool video, my era of castle was lion knights, black knights, and forestmen but this era is hands down the best. Updates, the different faces and the fantasy aspects really take it up a notch. I have been fortunate to find a few of the sets in second hand batches. I still lust after finding some of the dwarf and Orc sets.
I grew up with Knights Kingdom II and this era of castle. The golden days were definitely with the lion knights, falcons, and forestmen. I wish they made more sets with Dwarves in it, outside of the mine I believe the only other dwarf we got was with the troll warship
Hmm, I made a complete Lego castle lore map, but with your video, I just realised the trolls had a war ship. My trolls are pretty landlocked. I’ll have to make them have access to the sea… back to the drawing board!
i miss the fantasy theme from castle, however i only ever got a set bigger then a mini, if it was a holiday or something like a birthday that wasn't mine. what sucked about that, it was frequently a Disney themed set, with a princess. the thing i hated the most about it, i never got to play with my sets, because my mom got a dog and it chewed on most of them or buried them. i'm still mad about it. what sucks for my mom and also dad, is that most of the sets they gave me, weren't even actually Lego. they were off brand, from a factory in mexico. i could tell, most of them smelled like shrimp with a little seaweed in the mix. the funny smelling sets weren't the biggest problem, the plastic was the same sort of thing, orbeez are made of. so if they were dry, no problem, if they got wet, boom gone. they were also called something like, built it brick or plastic fun time toy. i never got much use out of them, my younger sisters. almost constantly had friends over and they would destroy even the fake Lego and lie about it. why i'm telling you about it, fake Lego is a thing and is often made of weird things like, eraser rubber or packing foam. sometimes, companies from other places make them out of candy wrappers or chip bags or from my experience seafood shipping plastic mixed with the plastic used to store seaweed for sushi kits.
That sounds like a rough time. I didn’t get many sets as a kid either, so when I got one it was always exciting. Lego can be very expensive and getting new sets adds up. Because of that I’m not totally against knock offs if they are done well. Hopefully you’re able to get a few new sets for yourself now! I know I’ve been doing too much of that.
This was probably the best lego castle line since the classic castle era. But! This line lasted roughly 4 years and the classic line lasted close to 11. So. Years spent to products recieved? This one is the best.
Felt like it ended too early without an elven faction. Kingdom's and Castle 2013 were good follow ups but then Lego went off on Nexo knights for way too long.
You also forgot to mention the old lego RTS halo wars vibe game that was one 3ds i think? that had the knights set in, which featured even more medieval units, it was really fun to play as a kid, too bad it never got a full PC port, you can find it on flash game websites nowadays but the controls are a little janky.
@@BronzeBricks1 ah I remembered the games name, it's called "Lego Battles" Like I said in my original message you can search it up on flash websites if you want to attempt to find a working copy of the game otherwise there is plenty of old media for it.
@@BronzeBricks1 I think the main thing that killed it for me, back then, not now. Was the balance of power, in my mind shifted so much towards the fantasy element and not the knights and their soldiers. A few ghosts, and skeletons. Even the small dragons, fine. But anything bigger or trolls or orcs. And then it is something else entirely. Aka lord of the rings. Which i do love. But for very different reasons. As a whole i really love the middleages and castles and their different sizes and designs. So adding to much nonsens just kills the "play." ... for me at least.
