Does anybody know why the movie "Life" get's so little attention? Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. That movie has always been a diamond to me. Such a treasure.
As a black guy that movie always angered me because those guys literally went away for life. As funny as the humor was, the premise just always upset me. It's painful. And I know part of that was the point.
Love you guys that say he's only this and that when in reality he has more funny in his pinky finger that you clowns 😂 Would love to see ye try comedy 😂
I grew up with Russell, in bramalea, Ontario. He was always well liked and very quick witted. The last time he and I were together was at our friends mom's house about 12 years ago.
@@chrismcnee9287 The only redeeming feature of that crap hole Brampton is that Russell Peters was from there lol. Otherwise, it's a really hostile place if you're from anywhere else in the GTA
How humble is Russell Peters ? He is literally the biggest international comic and he acts as if he is thankful to be in the room with comics who are not half as big as him. He is very cool.
@@accountaccount5154 Yeah I only know of him from a clip of indians being cheap, growing up around Jamaicans, you know the one I'm sure. I'm not trying to disagree with the OP but Russell was throwing out some heavy hitter names here in the US.
I root for Russel to be one of those people, in my heart he is. I was fresh from the boat came to study in Australia from Indonesia. And I was clueless on how multiculturalism in the west works. His stand up gave me such a good insider overview of what's happening, how people think and feel about it, and how to approach it in a way that wouldn't be troublesome for me. So much was happening in that show, the event itself presented the audience's reaction, then the fact that it was one of the highlight of the internet created a new standard for everybody. Most of the fresh from the boat people were helping themselves watching that stand-up. He is a hero Russel Peters, I should be able to say more but I'm sure its easy to find other people's point of views that is also helped by the stand-up. Be a Man!
Humility is Russel Peter's, the best ACTIVE comedian in that group of comedians at the party (now, doing comedy and touring right now/last decade, consistently) being intimidated by them. So wholesome
@@muddi900 The literal point of the movie was that a black man from the street could do just as well as a educated stuck up white man given the right circumstances.
His most recent Netflix movie... Dolemite... best movie of that year. Deserved some sort of critical praise. My wife makes me watch every Oscar nominated movie... that one was my favorite.
@Tyrone Notwatson Coming To America is finally getting it's just deserved praise, and of course you're missing a rebuttal but showing no mutual respect for comedy movies. There is no movie that hits on so many levels, social commentary, world views WITHIN the Black community, rich vs poor, etc. that was made for BP but yet everybody gets it. This should be the case for Hollywood Shuffle and I'm Gonna Get You Sucka but instead they're cult classics with BP and non-Black ppl won't get it
One of the bigger takeaways from many of Joe's interviews is that celebrities get starstruck too. I mean, Joe has been an entertainer for decades. He's been a staple of popular TV shows, the voice of the UFC, a stand-up comedian, and a podcaster with millions of subscribers (among other things). Dude's famous. There are levels to everything.
My best friend in college loved "Boomerang", he practically dragged me to the theater after seeing it by himself to watch it again. The running gag about Eddie finding some flaw in the girls he went to bed with had us bent over our seats in laughter, especially the one with the weird looking foot. But I just remember the film as the first time I ever saw Halle Berry in a movie.
Actually thought Steve Martin was good in this but Eddie didn’t land for me. But it’s been awhile since I saw it. Eddie Murphy is either brilliant or a dud.
Russell Peters needs to stop undermining himself. He's one of the most successful comedians and definitely more well known than some of the people at the party
@@415alkeez lol i meant first... english is not my first language. But I guess his comedy has not reached a lot of people internationally? I don't know
I remember a remark Eddie Murphy made years ago, during an interview or something. He said he'd started having children and he wanted them to be able to see his work. That he couldn't show his little kids his previous work. I thought that was a wonderful thing.
Joe cant wrap his head around the fact that he is a huge celebrity at this point. Doesn't want to accept it. I mean its not like hes Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt level, but hes up there for sure.
Placeholder Name yeah indeed, he also keeps saying stuff like: “can you imagine if you are that famous” etc. He tries to place himself out of that area (the fame) but ofcourse that won’t hold
Its strange, he is so famous but never gets invited to the big talkshows, or to host SNL. Its like he isnt accepted into the circle yet, even though he is more famous than most.
In the world of comedians, Murphy is royalty and Peters is at most a middle class office worker. I’m a huge Peter’s fan and knew him before he blew up, but just stating facts. Peter’s reaction to Murphy knowing him is Peters being normal, not humble. Just sayin.
@Brix Broox balky! Or however that characters name was spelled. That tv show he was in where he played a dude from Romania or something, went to live with his cousin in New York. Classic
There are very comics on the planet who can fill up arenas like Russell. He fills up arenas in Middle East,Eastern Europe, east Asia, se Asia,South Asia and English speaking countries Etc
Daddy Day Care. Clean. Hilarious. Turned my kids on to Eddie. They're all of age now and last Thanksgiving I showed them Raw. They had no idea... halfway through it they were all crying from laughing so hard.
"Life" is still one of my favorite movies, i can watch that over and over! Also his music is really dope, from Party All The Time, to Red Light with Snoop.. Man im gonna put it on now!
I loved this clip esp because this isn't just a feeling limited to comics or celebs, a lot of us have been there - feeling out of place or awkward at a gathering, maybe feeling inferior. Really cool to hear them talk about this.
