You make some interesting points but one thing to consider is the original mythology behind trolls. They are creatures who don’t traditionally interact with humans leaving them unfamiliar with human culture and regularities. Many of their ‘insults’ like his hair color and way he walks are very abnormal and strange to them. I can see how they are ‘pushing their agenda’ on Kristof and Anna but it’s important to remember that trolls are known in many cultures as mischievous creatures who don’t intend to cause harm they just enjoy a little chaos. While I see some of the points you are making I just feel it’s important to remember/consider the original source material as well.
Fair point. But I will reassert that the narrative doesn't treat them as "ignorantly mischievous creatures", but rather "wise magical sages" and "love experts".
Nah wait thats a really good point omfg- the trolls are f-ing TERRIBLE I hate them so much. They are at BEST the kind of non-human entity that thinks they understand how humans work but well and truly don't, and at WORST outright malicious. I fully agree that the movie should've pointed out how flawed the trolls' advice is, and the fact that they didn't is incredibly frustrating.
Calling them "villains" was more tongue-in-cheek than serious... but seeing as their behaviour is abominable to all the protagonists and ultimately triggers the plot through the problems they set in motion, I don't see how calling them villains is inaccurate. By that logic, Gothel isn't a villain either.
@@m.e.3251Tbf though, Gothel isn't in Frozen, she's in Tangled, and in that she has entirely different motives than the trolls, when the trolls find out that Anna's heart is now freezing, they do go all business no nonsense in trying to help her, whereas Gothel was trying to disguise her manipulation as love and advice start to finish of the film (Hey, does that sound familiar *ahem Ahsoka* 😏)
