Jordan's performance against the Suns in '93 is one of the least talked about carry jobs in NBA history. Both teams scored the same amount of points despite the Bulls winning in 6, which shows that Jordan needed every bit of the 41ppg he averaged to get the Bulls that title.
9 out of 12 Finals games between Chicago and Utah were decided in the final seconds, and the 1997 Finals was decided by 4 points total. 0.6 PPG separated Utah and Chicago in that Finals. One of the closest Finals in 50 years up to that point. Utah also won the most games of any team in the 1990s, and had a win percentage of 71% from 1994-2000 -- best in the league, and better than teams like the 2000-03 Lakers. Utah is hugely disrespected because they peaked at the wrong time.

Does that sound like a stacked team to anybody? Does that sound like a team that on paper should have beat the Los Angeles Lakers or the Knicks or Cavs who all had plenty of Hall of famers? No they didn't. Beside the fact that they had Michael Jordan who averaged 31/6.5/9 and Pippin 21/9/6. Both who were 2 of the greatest perimeter defenders of all time. And besides Horace Grant who was considered a "average-good” PF averaging 12/8 with his time on the Bulls, their other 10 players were minimum salary under average players. The 91-93 Bulls, was no stacked team. They simply trained to become a unit, a machine who galvarnized around Michael Jordan, learning their roles in that machine to perfection, very rarely making the same mistake twice, playing very efficiently. Michael would accept no less because he never gave it any less than 100. This was a team that over time learned to trust each other, and trust in their leader and that's what made them great. That's what allowed them to win three championships in a row with most of their guys being average or subpar NBA players. Their extraordinary level of Chemistry, camaraderie and trusting each teammate is going to make the right play and be in the right place at the right time within their defensive and offensive sets. Oh and just one little piece of info. Throughout MJ's career he's played with two All Stars. Pippin for the first three-peat and Rodman in 95-98 three peat. LeBron James since has played with over 20 All Stars, which include current and Future Hall of famers, all NBA players, scoring champions, MVPs, finals MVPs Etc. Yet he has as many finals losses as Jordan has championships. Yet people say that MJ played on stacked teams....??? Lol. These young LeBron fans only know about the 96-98 Bulls when a 36 year old Rodman joined them. They have no idea that throughout Michael Jordan's 51 playoff games from his rookie year to 1990 he averaged 37.3 PPG, 7 APG and 7 RPG with 2.3 steals per game and 1.3 blocks per game. Can't blame him for not making the finals his first 6 seasons. Look at those playoff stats. Better than anybody in NBA history including Wilt Chamberlain who averaged only 17 PPG in his six finals appearances where Michael averaged double that and his six finals appearances. That's why Wilt can't compare to m.j. because when the lights shine the brightest, MJ thrived and Wilt simply wilted.
@@davidcici11Evolution The 2020 Lakers starting 6 all basically averaged double figures for the season. LeBron James 25, AD 26, kuzma 13, KCP 9.5, Bradley 9, Waiters 12. We weren't comparing MJ 90-91 first championship to the 2020 Lakers. We were comparing MJ's first championship team compared to LeBron's first championship team. I'm not taking anything away from LeBron on the court. He's the second greatest player of all time. If you compare him to anyone else then Michael Jordan, LeBron takes it. Being the second greatest basketball player in the history of the game is not a slight against him. And LeBron also had someone next to him that scored the ball equal or even slightly better than he did in A.D, averaging 27 in the regular season and 28 in the playoffs. And LeBron average 26 and 27 in the regular season and playoffs. MJ had to take care of the scoring on his own. Pippen averaged 17 PPG with the bulls. He was a facilitator and the defensive Juggernaut. Michael never had another scorer throughout his six chips. Basically everyone else on those teams averaged under 10ppg during both three peats. That's a hell of a load to carry. Let's keep in mind LeBron had a 20-30 scorer in D Wade, an 18-20 PPG score in Chris Bosh. In Cleveland he had a 20ppg scorer in Kevin Love, a 20+PPG scorer in Kyrie Irving, 13 PPG in deontay Jones, and 12 PPG in JR Smith. And LeBron with his 25 PPG. When we're talking about scoring, LeBron James had a ton of help compared to Michael Jordan, as Dennis Rodman average under 5 PPG during his three-peat with the bulls. Of course Rodman was the seven time rebounding champ and 2x DPOY, but we're talking about scoring help now. MJ never played with another player who averaged over 18 PPG in his whole career. Besides Scotty who averaged 16.8 for his career, Jordan never played with another player who averaged over 12 PPG which was Horace Grant. And in the end, the only way to win a game is to put the ball in the hoop more than the other team does. Everything else is a means to an end. MJ was the end
He is also the reason a player with the caliber of Hakeem is not even considered to be in the contention for GOAT, although he was as good as a player than wilt, lebron, kobe or duncan. And it's just because MJ was so much superior in the same era he played in.
This is what people don't get. If Jordan didn't exist, Malone would likely be a 2-time champion and the 2nd greatest PF ever. Amazing how much Jordan dominated his competition.
@@allanhouston6759 you could definitely make that case, but a lot of people will disagree (including me). It is about the stamp that he showed up in the biggest moments and proved himself to be a champion. Never happened against MJ, unfortunately.
JOrdan was head and shoulders above everyone else on the court until he got to be 40... no one can take away from him what he did... People throw stats, championships, teammates, era and bunch of external factors at eachothers when comparing MJ & LBJ. I personally just want to increase my basketball skills, and depending on one's height/size, most of which should probably learn from top point guards in history, but if we put highest effectiveness which includes size and height into consideration its hands down MJ & Hakeem. Hakeem: Highest basketball IQ and Off/Def skill, with upper tier height/athleticism player in NBA history. MJ: Pinnacle of Off/Def skills/power to size/height, athletism (hangtime, those mittens), basketball IQ, mental toughness in NBA history LBJ is amazing too, but the Smoothness and Versatility of his moves are hindered by his muscle size. Thus LBJ: Highest tier of strength/power in combination with upper level IQ and Offensve skill player in NBA history.
Hakeem didn't have the abilità to lead an all rime offense like Bron and Jordan. He was great at making tough shot which translated in po, great off ball game ( especially offensive boards) but he didn't have elite playmaking. Bron and Mike both elite scorers and playmakers, elite defenders for their position, but Mike is more portable, that might be' what separates those 2
@@jacopopispola9925 When people talk about Hakeem, they think dream shake, but if we watch his in game footwork during his mid/post jumpshots, it is beyond elite. LBJ's defensive capability is elite, can guard most positions, the reason I put it below MJ & Hakeem is because his will is inconsistent. (I can't imagine if LBJ had MJ's will, his D would make ppl cry😂) The reason I pick MJ and Hakeem is becuase their skills don't overlap as much, it actually complete Off/Def Arsenal. Where LBJ is overshadowed by one or the other. For example: MJ and LBJ's drives are pretty much unstoppable, both explosive, MJ was more versatile and LBJ was more strength, but when people start fouling MJ stands out due to his FT% advantage. Hakeem on the other hand is also more versatile for someone his height. He usually adjust his moves on all side of the mid/inner area in accordance to his defender style, height, size, speed etc. Checkout the video on him giving paid lessons to LBJ, Kobe, Dwight on inside shots. (Golden material) His inside defense is far more effective than MJ and Lebron due to his height and position. I agree he didn't led an all time offensive team, but thats due to two reasons, one because he never had another superstar on his team during their prime, and second he a center and sucks when it comes to dribbling the ball very well from end to end😂. LJB's moves extremely effective due to his size and speed, he can take a 3 or jumpshot because defenders are afraid of his drive, and when he shoots its usually creating space from single predetermined move (bump or few steps to a set location). Therefore, for most of us its more effective/practical to apply versatility into our games. Now if I had Lebron's Physique......thats a whole another story😉
@Kwame Nkrumah 😂 Kobe would of looked down upon you just base on the close-mindedness of ur comment. Kobe is one of my favorite players ever. Alpha of his era, skillwise definitely above Lebron, reasonable to argue even better than MJ at certain moves, however, the reason his not as effective as MJ is because of the nature gifts such as hand size and Vertical which hinders his consistency and effectiveness when using the same move. Just imagine if Kobe had MJ's hand size and vertical......😳
Weak competition is not being able to touch a guy without getting a foul called, weather the talent is better or not these guys were committing hard fouls, current NBA these players can freely shoot, the entire NBA is weak now, soft! Soft! Soft!

This generation looks at the present superteams and says, "Look at the talent on the teams in the finals comared to the '90s." Well it's easy for specific present teams to get to the finals because the talent is concentrated. In the '80s, commissioner David Stern was adamant on ensuring that the talent was well distributed. This made all games more enjoyable to watch, all teams could make some money and getting to the finals was not guaranteed. Adam Silver is not so focused. Honestly, there's a large segment of younger fans that will never give teams and players from before the 2000s their proper respect solely because of how inferior they view them compared to today. All they know is the last decade and a half or so and thus have no perspective on the differences in the game from then to now. Because of their lack of perspective from their young age, they can't help themselves but to always compare players from then to today's players past players will always fall short in their minds and it's birthed a lack of respect for those past greats. All we hear all the time is "Guys back then couldn't compete today" or "Bench guys would be All Stars back then" or whatever other stupid talking point they use. They can't appreciate the greats for what they were in the era they were in with the resources they had at their disposal while at the same time demanding "old heads" respect the greats of today. They also seem to think teams can't still be good to great unless they have 3 or more Hall of Famers, which is a product of the player built superteam era we're now in.
At the same time, we suffer from the same thing in regards to the quality of the players and competition from the 60's through the early 80's. He's my favorite PG of all time and I think he's the best, better than Magic, Oscar and Isiah in my opinion... How Chris Webber describes him never gets old.. 'The baddest dude' 😅
The sun's, the sonics and the jazz were all very good teams. The jazz swept a 61 win Lakers team with prime Shaq, Eddie Jones, Nick van EXEL in the WCF. The jazz were an excellent team.
I saw that Finals series, Bulls vs the Utah Jazz live. That Utah team was very physical, extremely well coached, with great shooting. Jordan single handedly closed them out, by stripping one of the strongest men on the planet, Karl Malone, and then hitting the game winner on Russell.
So Stockton and hornacek is physical now what about catching alley-oops what about blocking shots what about rebounding what about driving to the Lane and Dunking ....lol.
A Michael Jordan was battling Karl Malone for the scoring title LeBron James is bigger stronger faster with more rains in Karl Malone the past is to save face man
@Dee LeBron is NOT bigger or stronger than Karl Malone. I think LeBron would admit that. Malone is 6'9", and his play weight was 265lbs. LeBron is 6'8", at best, and he weighs a slightly built 250 lbs. Lebron is definitely more athletic. The point is LeBron is NO GOAT.
@@healthiswealth6237 LeBron James is a GOAT if he ain't why don't you stop Tom Brady 3X CHEATER GOAT AWARD IITS NO GOATS TODAY THEN WERE MEDIA BRAINWASHED going back to the 80s so you can glorify Larry Bird or going back to the 90s so you can glorify Stockton and hornacek and thunder Dan Majerle they never show HIS competition because it's competition is 👉WEAK ....LBJ WILL DESTROY AMERICAN EUROS. ATTER FACT HE TOOK KEVIN LOVE CARUSO TO THE FINALS 🤣🤣🤣
Okay. None of these teams are weak. But, if you say any of these teams are stronger than 2014 Spurs or 2018 Warriors, hard to take you seriously. Well 2011 exists. But still.
Yes I do think the 91 magic and stocton and malone jazz are better than them none where better then the warriors because but thats ml in the 90s joedwn was the superteam.
@@gsriram3959 2014 Spurs ? ? Even post-prime Dirk Nowitzki ( age 35 ) was able to win 3 games against the Spurs in the 2014 WCFR. *The Mavs were the eighth seed in the West.* Prime Lebron James couldnt do half of what post-prime Dirk Nowitzki ( age 35 ) did. He lost to old Tim Duncan ( age 38 ), Manu ( age 36 ), Tony Parker ( age 32 ) and Kawhi Leonard ( age 22 ) in the 2014 Nba Finals. He could not even put-up decent resistance and lost with a record difference in the score.
@@BCN4Life the Tim Duncan disrespect is crazy Duncan has the highest win percentage of all time Duncan alone puts you in the finals his Spurs were better than Magic and worthy without Kareem
@@glennrobinson.377 why are yall ignoring teams in these discussions. It's so weird. This video goes in depth about MJs competition yet here you guys are analyzing Lebrons losses with zero depth. Not bringing up how teammates played, how they played, etc. It's just oh LeBron lost to the spurs. Oh yeah one man lost to an entire nba roster. Just say you're biased toward LeBron because you're a hater.
This is a very good explanation. Jordan's road to the finals never had a lack of competition, even before his first finals apperance. He had to go through very 'TOUGH' teams, Knicks, Magic, Pacers, Pistons, etc.
If LeBron has weak competition in the east, then this must mean MJ played in a much weaker league since his teams won 6 championships, how does that sound now ? 😉👌🏻
@@dynamic6645 lol he did, man made it to the playoffs with 32 or something record. The 90s wasn’t really that nice tbh, I think the 80s was a bit better than 90s
@@SaintFrenchy in those times you had to face the top teams a lot more, there were 23 teams in the league, and dont forget the top draft players were divided in less teams, thats why you needed like 4 superstars to win, like lakers, pistons and celtics did.
The Suns led by KJ won 50+ games from 89-92, made two WCF, KJ was arguably the 2nd best PG in the NBA, KJ avg 20-10 on 50% FG for three straight yrs. This was before Barkley signed with them in 92-93
The Jazz hit a 3pt buzzer the refs called late which the replay showed it wasn't, and then the Bulls hit one that actually was late the refs called good, so the Jazz should have won that game.
It's crazy to me how anyone could compare leflop to this man. Quit never existed to this guy and every single "underratted" player in this Era was only underrated because this dude beat the living snot out of them.
I stopped arguing the Goat debate with people who don’t know anything about basketball (LeBron stans). Instead of doing research, they just regurgitate whatever they hear on tv
MJ doesn't have control over his competition. All he can do is beat the teams in front of him. Yes, there were The Grizzlies, Heat, Raptors, Timberwolves, Hornets, and Magic added in a short span, but he still needed to be the team everyone gave their best shot every night. Every regular season game was someone's championship. He still needed to stay healthy the whole time and that's a feat nobody talks about.
I hate ppl saying he played against plumbers he literally played so many greats like magic johnson larry bird that pistons team young shaq and many others
What an absolute masterclass of a video. Bravo! Shame this toxic NBA fan base of today has to attack players and not show the respect they deserve. Same with many of the players. So much for the “fraternity”. 10-15 years from now whoever is doing GOAT level things - that fan base will trash the players of today - claiming they aren’t as good. It’s an exercise in futility.
I watched both LeBron and MJ in their primes and I would agree that LeBron is not on the same level as MJ, because LeBron is on a level miles ahead of MJ.
Bruh there is no such think as "weak finals competition". If you are in the finals, you are literally the best two teams in the NBA that year. Besides the early and mid 2000s west, there has never been a weak finals
@@GONZUdAce11 2020 was the Bubble and what do the 2011 mavs have anything to do with this. That was a great finals. The heat were favored, looked to be making that true by goin up 2-1 and then the mavs won 3 str8 and lebron became a meme.
@@ratsolla was just making a joke, I mean if you look back to 2011 the Mavs appear to be a "weak finals competition", but surprise they actually won the championship against a Heat superteam.
@@GONZUdAce11 fax. And those who saw them as weak weren't even correct as they swept the defending champ lakers and gentleman swept kd, harden and Russ. That was a great finals.
Oh yes it is lol yes it is jordan great player but he dominated a weak era. The only reason why the bulls went 72-10 is because of the expansion league new teams were being added. That's what watered down the competition.
Good video. LeBrons competition was more difficult. He lost to an all time great spurs and warriors team for four of his losses. those spurs and warriors teams were head and shoulders above the lakers, blazers, suns, Sonics, and jazz teams that Jordan faced.
In the 80's he faced great competition when he had a bad team and never won. In the 90's he faced good competition when he had a great team and never lost. He beat a good Lakers team that was no longer great and injured. THATS IT. He didn't beat a single other championship team in his Finals career. His resume speaks for his competition the loudest. Hell, Bill fucking Russell lost a Finals with a team full of HoF's... It's a shame really. Like seeing a 911 Porsche in all its glory for 6 years in the Lamont race a Civic Type R at best.
All the lebron fans boys they started with this like Nick Wright, Shannon Sharp, Colin Herb, Perkins etc. They try to bring Jordan down and they can't. Today players first it was Stephen Curry after that KD, KL, and now Giannis the story repeats
Please make a video on the 2007 run for the Cavs...I like LeBron as a player but the narrative has to stop that he "carried" them and they had "no chance" against the spurs
Lebron only beat one 50-win team in the playoffs during his time in Cleveland from 2003 to 2010 and that was against the 2007 Pistons with no 4x DPOY Ben Wallace and Larry Brown. *2007 Cavs faced one team above .500 in East.* In the first round Lebron defeated the Washingtopn Wizards ( Record: 41-41 ). In addition, two of the Washington Wizards top players were injured and did not even play against Lebron James.( Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler- Missed 4 games ).
@@Avarice-Zero yes lebron didnt shoot well..pop sagged off on him to let him shoot..its not just the spurs were a juggernaut and he didn't have a chance
2007 Cavs: Zydrunas Ilgauskas- 2x All-star. Anderson Varejao- 1x All-Defensive Second Team. Larry Hughes- 1x All-Defensive First Team and 1x Nba Steals Leader. Lebron"s teammates werent superstars, but they werent scrubs either. For example: 2007 ECF. Game 6: Daniel Gibson was the main reason the Cavs beat the Pistons in Game 6. *Daniel Gibson=31-Points, FG-78%. 3P-100%. FT-80%. 6-Reb, 2-Ast.* He was the hero of this game. 4th Quarter: Daniel Gibson=19-Points FG-83% 3P-100% FT-82%.*
In the 1997 title run, Jordan became the only player to ever lead a championship team to the title with only one double digit scorer for the playoffs. Pippen had 19-ppg. on a sub-par 41%, and all other Bulls failed to reach 9-ppg. 1997 Playoffs: *Toni Kucoc=8-ppg. FG-33%.* *Scotte Pippen=19-ppg. FG-41% and 8-Rebounds per game.* *Dennis Rodman=4-ppg. FG-37% and 8-Rebounds per game.* The 1997 and 1998 Bulls have the two lowest scoring supporting casts by a winning team in the Nba Finals since 1954.
Let's be clear...the ONLY reason anyone, usually LeFlop fans, regurgitate this BS is because LeBrick lost 6 times in the Finals...did I say lose, I mean got destroyed. This how they try to bridge that gap and make themselves feel better. Truth is...if any LeBron-led team met any Jordan-led championship team in the Finals...LeBron's Finals record would look a whole lot worse.

Outside of game 1, that 93 NBA Finals vs the Suns........... Chicago's other 3 wins were by razor thin margins. They NEEDED every bit of those 41 PPG. Even if Jordan had let's say a PPG similar to his previous 2 Finals (35.8, 31.2) they may not have win.
