It's funny of course I'm going to pick sides doesn't matter that I've been a fan of yours for years it's the matter of who's right and who's wrong and you're right and they're wrong keep pounding brother
Hey EXO great videos man. Your very inspiring and honest which is what us fans love about you. Glad you have good friends to back you up. Forget these guys, remember you got an army of true bsaaheads behind you. Just keep up the good work and stay strong buddy.
So instead of Rockville admitting their bs they make up crap and try to discredit EXO and Big D!!Nice job..Smfh!!RATE YOUR PRODUCTS CORRECTLY ROCKVILLE!
Outstanding video sir. Put a nail in the coffin, this debate is finished. Rockville had an opportunity to step up and fix the issues and come back as a good affordable option, but just killed their own brand.. well said, sir. I'm a new fan.
I am so glad you stood up for EXO, he is such an amazing dude and does not deserve to be trashed. I have seen almost all his videos and know for a fact he knows what he is doing. I have been into speakers for almost 15 years now so i know thing or two but also learning and gaining more knowledge.
The thing that gets me is that rating their gear appropriately wouldn't cost them any sales. These are 15's for 110 shipped. Rating them at 500w or whatever they should be rated would not stop people at that price point.
I bet it would cost more sales than you think. Why not spend a little bit more for a Sundown E15 from www.emfcaraudio.com with a 2 year warranty? That's a similar class at that point, and it's got a 2" coil at that.
Well now that everyone has seen that the Rockville k9 isn’t what it is said to be I don’t think as many people will be interested in the entire Rockville products as much as they once used to be. See when they trick their customers that leaves a bad reputation on the whole brand and many people will end up moving on to quality brands that are true to what they say. Thanks EMF for your video on this!
They're rating it higher in my opinion so they can show up in more "narrow down" searches. Many people wouldn't expect a low end 500w sub to handle double it's rating for any length of time worth your money..... But they rated it higher, and it LOOKS durable with the basket and spider support bracket so it gets people to change their mind based on price.
Shout out to EMF for keeping it real providing "true" real world information. Real numbers, real power handling, in real wold applications and just an honest no b.s video. The way it should be. Thanks for another great video EMF!!
This video made me subscribe. Love it when people show the real truth That's the reason why we need people like exo and you real honest reviews no BS or jive talking just straight facts
I got to admit I hit the like button before I even watch the video because I've been following this for a while now and I'm just glad you made a response video can't wait to watch
@@misterhat5823 I've never owned one. But everything I've seen looks like they can take a beating. But I think they are definitely overhyped. They don't sound good at all. Used to for a sub to be good it had to eather hit really hard like a solobaric or solo x or get low but still sound good like an W7 . It seems like now people only care about the lowest pressure waves. Honestly I would rather own a rocksord fosgate t2 or mtx 9500 or w7 or if I wanted low a orian hcca.
Thanks for the video, im looking fwd to a fair test to put this to bed. If Big D tests it i value his info, just a bonus to have exo and you confirm all this hype. Love the channel keep up the integrity.
Annon Omis yeah, I am south of Seattle. I don’t currently have anything doing big numbers. I may be building something again soon. I just love watching what everyone is doing right now. Crazy.
nick newman I’m in the same boat man! I’m in Tacoma. Have a single Deaf Bonce apocalypse 12 on a Skar 1500 and a few other misc subs and Amps laying around
I'm glad someone finally chimed in on this. Really liked the video. I'd like to see more people chime in on this just to prove that not EVERY sub will have the same problem as Rockvilles and that they have something shady going on
I love this video I have 2 Rockville k9 15s and I have to say this is the most understandable video of all the k9 videos. When you get your hands on the k9 PLEASE give us the real parameters. I don't want to destroy lol my k9s.
Thanks for this I watched there crap yesterday and thought the same thing as your saying. I've got 2 sundown e10s on double the power clean and they take it all day.
I bet , I had a zv3 15 on a shark 3500 , the amp does pretty much 3k , and the subs only rated for 1500rms , it acted like it wanted more power and murdered the trunk of my deville while doing so
I have 2 sundown SA-12's that I've had for at least 5 years. For a couple years I had 2 of them being fed about 2500W RMS (67% over rated power) in my custom ported box tuned at 35hz and yet I never blew one. I have one now in a 1.1 cuft sealed enclosure and have been abusing the hell out of it, bottoming out the suspension with most of my tracks, i also accidentally gouged the foam surround in several spots and yet once I readjusted my amp for 750W RMS it still sounds great. I've run a -10db 40hz test tone for awhile with 500W+ RMS with no issues. I know I've clipped my subs for extended periods, pushed significantly more than rated power, but they keep on going. My SA-12'S are the original with dual 2ohm coils. I've always had them wired in parallel for 1ohm each, and 0.5 ohm when 2 were in my custom box. I have 2 APSM-1500 amps, nowadays I use 1 sub in the house for home theater and 1 in my car. Still going strong after these years.
CEA 2006 is for amplifiers, but CEA 2031 is a measurement standard for drivers. I believe using a 6db crest factor pink noise. So you would approximately half the wattage for a continuous tone. Power is also just calculated as v^2 divided by nominal impedance.
I love this guy he knows his shit calling out bullshit on all car audio pirate brands saving the hard working consumer lots of money on car audio purchases keep it up EMF your the best.
Lets see Rockville try to call you outour bigdwiz the way they have EXO...why they are going in on him is ridiculous and will hurt them in the long run... so glad to see someone of your caliber putting a stop to the confusion
I hope you're going to be like Big D Wiz or Budget gems for woofers, calling out the posers. Be a good line of vids, fits your style of educational vids
Ahh man you're killing me ...I've gotta wait a whole week before we get to see part 2 ...it's gonna be a looonng week man !!!!😓😓😓😨😂...but I do feel a great sense of happiness knowing that the test will be performed properly with no bias ...I can't stop laughing because I know what's coming😂😀😀😂😃 roll on tech stuff Tuesday part 2 ... keep up the great work I love your vids big time and your brand is brilliant I can't wait to get my hands on some of it 👍👍👍👍👍God bless from across the pond here in the UK 😊
Arriving by Tuesday lol. You flashed that fast. Anyways great video man. Never watched an entire video of this length on RU-vid. Very educational and interesting. Keep up the good work
We dont mine if the wave file is clipping because the only thing that affect is that will sound distorted. When we play it in low volume sounds distorted but will not damage our sound signal. If we manage this clip wave not pass zero db line then its not a clipping sound as it sounds distorted because of the clipping wave line.(The shape of the wave is square.)
Glad someone set them straight it was so obvious to me I mean it was showing rms power on the screen that sub barely seen 600 more than a split second mainly 3 to 400 watts
The only other CEA/ANSI/CTA document pertaining to car audio speakers is this: 'Testing and Measurement Methods for Mobile Loudspeaker Systems (ANSI/CTA-2031 R-2014) Audio Systems Standard/Bulletins Defines test procedures for rating the performance and physical size of mobile loudspeakers, and requirements for reporting these characteristics'. A big thumbs up 👍
I bought 4 X15 Rockville K9, blew all 4 on day 1... so I went to LordOfBass and got all new soft parts to rebuild it and now it ACTUALLY does 1K RMS. I highly recommend just buying the subs for the motors and investing another $120 per sub in upgraded soft parts and you will get a very good sub at a decent price. My K9s are now just as loud if not louder than a Skar ZVX 15 for about $90 less. Which isn’t that much of a savings but I had the blown subs and figured I’d try to save them....
You’re spot on man. Rockville’s tests were bogus and even worse for the SA sub test. Plus if a company does make a quality product they certainly wouldn’t stoop as low as bagging on another companies product. This video was very enlightening.
Well, the method in which you talk about another product is key. If it's "it's just as bad as ours, so ours is just as good" is the wrong way. Physically showing differences like in the case of a genuine and knock-off is very different.
Even then how do I know it was designed with any care? If a lowballer outpeforms it with a smaller coil... Jacob Fuller is obsessive with his designing sending back tons of prototypes trying to get a perfect product. Many people consider the SA a perfect driver. Sean seems to be similar taking the time to think out a cohesive product instead of trying to force a high RMS low cost product that doesn't even do that
@@Str8GasGenetics That's one of those things that comes out from experience and transparency. Both Jacob and I are very open about what we're doing, what's coming, and the thought behind it all. Giant companies aren't like that but that doesn't mean they don't make an honest product. Basically, if it's "too good to be true", you can pretty much ensure it's not.
I think playing a subwoofer in a scenario that’s super common and not ideal would be : 1.) an enclosure that’s tuned high for spl but not really daily use, for example above 45 hz, 2.) playing frequencies below tuning, 3.) using rebassed music that’s technically a non clipped recording but if you have gain overlapping that is too high when setting amp, for instance -5db or -10db instead of setting gain using 0db track, which then results in sending a clipped signal to the subwoofer, 4.) sending a constant sine wave or frequencies that are below tuning and at a power that is equal too or above the subwoofers rms stated specs for a regular songs average length, say 5 mins long. With all these things being done in combination with each other would be the test that needs to be done on subwoofers and then we would see which companies subwoofers can stand up to the common abuse a lot of consumers are doing nowadays. Great video though, glad all these things are finally being talked about when it comes to ratings and specs with subwoofer companies.
Got another video idea Example. I have a subwoofer rated for 800 rms Amp I have rated 1000 rms (CES rated amp) How do u dial the amp back accurately to 800 watts. What tools do u use?
8:10 - LOLOLOLOL!!!! That was awesome! That look on your face! I almost spit on my display hehehe...LOVED IT! "So I guess you know what has to happen next" XD PS: Weird thing...The AC in my house is going out as well...AC guy should be here tomorrow though :P
